A bit out of the way, but worth it! The inn/pub was tasefully decorated. The food was delicious and freshly cooked. Drinks were reasonable. We had homade chips. They made us feel very welcome. The service was very good and staff very helpful. Will definitely go again.

What a pleasant suprise when we arrived at the Bay Horse, which is only about 4 miles from the centre of Durham. We had a very nice room all have their own door to the parking area,Your car is parked outside your door.
The food was good pub food and the breakfast was huge,if you want to stay in a beautiful village in a local pub this is the place for you.

Room Tip: I was told no .10 is the best room.

Used a KGB voucher proved very good value .The best thing about the Bay Horse is the food , we could not complain about the two nights we ate there . The only down side was the length of time we waited for food to come. The room was a good size and fair standard . The towels were changed. only complaint was dirty cups left and bed not made up . The bar was entertaining when the locals were in , a great bunch of men had a laugh with them . would I stay here again ? Yes I would .

Room Tip: Ask for room 10 . If you want a double room

Super little find at a bargain cost all courtesy of KGB deals! The rooms are comfortable and massive to boot! You can park your car right outside your room! Fresh towels each day of your stay. Our deal included our breakfast and evening meal and nothing could be faulted! The service was comparable to that of a four star hotel and no request was difficult for the lovely members of staff. Real ales in the bar for £2.50...I challenge you to find great tasting real ale anywhere cheaper in the country!

I cannot understand any of the negative reviews on this place particularly if on a KGB deal...it is hard to work out where they make a profit! Keep up the good work guys and thanks again for a fantastic few nights!

spent a very enjoyable couple of nights at the Bay Horse Inn,courtesy of a KGB deal. We were with some friends. The Inn was very nice, with excellent food which was very good value, home made chips and proper battered fish. Drinks were very reasonably priced as well. The rooms are purpose built, and could do with a bit of updating, but nicely decorated and clean. Would definitely visit again. Bus stop handy for trips into Durham, so didn't need to use the car. From Durham you could go anywhere in the Northeast.

Room Tip: not much to do around the Inn, but Durham very easy to get to on the bus, All rooms are on the groun...

We went for a meal on a cut price voucher deal and overall were a bit disappointed.
The goat's cheese starters were fine, although nothing special and the beers were nice. However after a long wait, despite being the only people in the restaurant, when mains arrived, they were not good. My partner's fish was dry inside and greasy outside and my lemon coated chicken arrived burnt and inedible. Having said that there were no quibbles when I returned it and the 2nd order was satisfactory, though uninspiring and without lemon flavour. We gather that there was a new chef, just "finding his feet". The staff were very nice and the location pleasant and near Durham city.We declined desert and are unlikely to visit again.

Staff are all really organised and very friendly. We had dinner & breakfast in the resturant and it was great - the food tastes fresh and is again great value!! Our room was large & the beds were comfortable. We slept very well. The carpet in our room was really dirty and covered in stains though which let everything down badly. This was our only negative point. It was a short 5min drive to Durham which is what we wanted.Durham was a gorgeous place, well worth a visit.
