A lovely hotel, although I always think of Colditz when I see the pictures; Inside is anything but. Relax in the outdoor spa pool or the indoor spas or have treatments or....
We so enjoyed this hotel and after a hard day of skiing or driving the Stelvio Pass what better way to unwind

Room Tip: Its always best to upgrade, some good offers on their website

I was introduced to this place by an Italian friend and have visited it every time I have been to Bormio since. The setting and layout of the hotel and baths is magnificent and the views back across the mountains are breathtaking. So far I have only visited at night after hard days skiing; invigorated by the baths and inspired by the views its a great way to prepare for the evening. Added to which the staff are friendly, relaxed and efficient. They speak excellent English and nothing is too much trouble. I highly recommend the Bagni Vecchi.

This is heaven!
The Spa and water are amazing, the best thermal water I have tried so far, totally addictive.
There are so many things to try, pools, saunas, mud.
The hotel is wonderfully simple and austere and totally charming, very clean, very comfortable.
View is unbelievable.

Service is simple (no room service, etc), warm and very effective.
Shuttle to Bagni Nuovi is a great plus.
Remember to pick up the priority pass at Bagni Vecchi before going to Bagni Nuovi.

Restaurant is good, but selection is limited, and often there are no tables left for dinner by noon.
Remember to book well ahead.

Be aware that driving to Bagni Vecchi is not for the faint hearted. If you miss the entrance after the gallery, you are stuck on the road to the Stelvio Pass for a few kilometers, before you are able to u-turn.

Room Tip: Get a room with view on the valley.

............(In the old sense of the word!)
This is the most amazing place to stay and relax. When we arrived, after a magnificent motorbike drive through the Alps we asked for a nice room with a view and were given just that! Everything about this place is pure magic from the decor to the fantastic food, superb restaurant and happy professional staff.
The old Roman baths are spotlessly clean, and a fantastic experience, from thermal waterfalls massaging tired shoulders, to apple and cinnamon saunas, outdoor thermal pools in the sunshine... I could go on and on!
The bedroom was huge as was the bed and serviced regularly with fresh fruit, comfy towel robes, and everything you can think of or need is provided. A "must visit" place and worth every cent!

Room Tip: Ask for a good view! Not as busy mid week when it can be busy with day visitors.

This hotel/spa resort is one of the best I've been to. Nesteled in the mountainside of a little town called Bormio (close to the Swiss border), this unassuming yet elegant hotel boasts one of the finest natural hot water springs/spas in the world! We stayed in a junior suite just overlooking the valley below and the breathtaking mountain views in front. I believe March is the best month to go since you can enjoy some nice fresh air while not beeing too cold outside. The food (both at the cafe and restaurant) were excellent and of high quality. The bathroom was surprisingly big for European standards and well heated. And finally, the baths and saunas were to die for! If your budget allows, we recommend you stay at the 5-star "Bagni Nuovi" hotel just down the hill but take advantage of the baths at the Bagni Vecchi (free shuttle and entrance to both hotels/baths when staying/sleeping over).

Room Tip: The beds are very hard. The only complaint we had was that we didn't get a good night sleep due...

We did the 98 Euro package..use of facilities, lunch and 50 min message. The baths, pools and grottoes were amazing. The lunch was much more than I expected. A full buffet of hot and cold dishes. I don't think I found every "room" could be more informative for foreigners. Didn't like the co-ed dressing rooms!!!!!! It is certainly a once in a life time experience.
The Bagni Nuovi at least had separate dressing rooms...more outdoor pools. Both are worth going to!!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2011

We stayed in Bagni Vecchi in September 2011 (early), it was an 'off the cuff' decision as we were driving through the Alps on our way to Venice and wanted to visit the Roman Baths not realising that there was a hotel attached too.

We finally decided to bite the bullet and pay the, what we initially thought to be, high price for one night and soon realised that it was the best decision that we made during our holiday in Northern Italy.

The Spa was fantastic!! There are no words to fully describe this; we have never seen anything like this place, just when you think you have seen it all you come across another room, or area that you missed first time around.
There are at least 5 saunas, of varying temperatures and fragrances, mostly overlooking Bormio valley which in itself is a breath taking sight, let alone when relaxing in a sauna to gentle music.

There are various chill out rooms, pools, Jacuzzi’s, waterfall pools etc, the list goes on and on.
The breakfast was also very nice with a large selection of foods to sort all palates and is included in the price of the stay, as is access to the Spa and the Spa of the sister hotel Bagni Nuovi.

All in all we would both highly recommend this Hotel, they were extremely polite and helpful in all aspects even though we both realised that we were mixing with some very rich people so we are not the usual clientele but we felt comfortable at all times and were treated with utmost respect.
