WOULD never stay here again. Second time in Barbados. I read the reviews on TripAdvisor and was very impressed with the hotel for its price, location, restaurant menu and variety and supposed service. HOWEVER, possibly because we were there in "low season" might be why it was such a disaster. After planning the vacation for 7 months, anticipating the hotel, restaurant, location, beach, I WAS SHOCKED when we checked in and found the restaurant "CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE." I know that some restaurants close, send their employees on holiday, have reduced hours, etc. HOWEVER, to arrive at the hotel anticipating a warm welcome and fabulous stay, having reviewed the menu extensively, to find that the restaurant (and for that matter the sister hotel) was closed, was a huge shock. The front desk acted as if it had just happened, unforeseen circumstances, etc.,and that they hoped it would open ASAP. Upon investigation, I found out that the restaurant had been closed for a bit, and was due to re-open in mid-October. We heard from several of the hotel staff and people at other restaurants that it had been closed for a while and WAS NOT due to open AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Not to be informed in ADVANCE and then to be misled by the staff was inexcusable.

Front desk day staff not friendly or helpful; night staff was better. There was NO communication between the day and night front desk staff. None of your staff had a key to access the ice machine and did not seem to know who did; we had 3 people staying in our room, and not once were any extra towels left to accommodate an additional person. Then upon check out we were OVERCHARGED and when I went to the front desk to correct it, I was questioned as if I was doing something wrong in pointing out the hotel’s accounting error.

The ONLY positive I can say is that the beach is beautiful and the water is gorgeous. AGAIN, there are other beach front hotels/properties in Barbados to choose from. I sent an email to the manager sharing my disappointment and concerns and have not had the courtesy of a reply. WOULD NOT recommend the Coral Mist.

Room Tip: Stayed on the 3rd floor. Lovely sound of ocean.

Arrived at Coral Mist after a long 8 hour flight, our room was not quiet ready so had to wait a little while. When they showed us our room it was on the ground floor, which for someone is really nice as its just of the sandy beach. But for us it didn;t feel very private as poeople walk past to get to pool, so we asked to move upstairs after a few minutes, they said they could sort it our for us, but could we wait till the room was cleaned. As we thought it would make our holiday better we said we would wait. When we got our room we was so surprised how big it was, as we booked a one bedroom appartment it has a kitchen at least 9 feet by 7 feet, and a bigger sitting area and a very large bedroom.

The staff at reception were very friendly, and Reggie was great sorting out trips and dinner bookings for resturants.

The Hotel has a sea front location which is beautiful, you do need to get used to waves at night.
Plenty of room to sit around beach and pool. Rooms very clean.

As said before not far from the Gap, near to Chilly Moo's ice cream, and Just Grilling. The best place to eat was Shakers which is up the road from Bubba's, turn right at Bubba's and then first left. This is very small but the best value for food we had on holiday, and tasted great.

The location of this hotel and service was excellent. The beach was located directly in back of hotel, accessed through patio door. View was excellent. Staff couldn't have been any nicer or more accommodating. The hotel was very clean and so enjoyable.

Room Tip: all the rooms were great; the ground floor was totally accessible to the beach.

First time to Barbados so I wasn't sure what to expect. I picked this hotel because the room faced the ocean, had a full kitchen with oven, walking distance to grocery store and had air conditioning. I had a studio beachfront room. Upon arrival i was put in room 303. there is an elevator so you don't have to do much walking if you don't want to. The view of the ocean was breathtaking. Upon walking the property i noticed the rooms on the bottom floor were walk outs to main walkway and ocean. I asked to have one of those and later that afternoon they called to say there was one available, room 104. The other couple with us also asked if they could have the room next to me and they were able to get it. So now we sit on our balconies and just go back and forth, and easy access to/from ocean. perfect. The staff are super friendly and very accommodating. I've never met such nice people in my life and not just on the resort. Rooms are clean and comfortable, some a little dated but it is listed as a three star. just because of being beachfront, it was a 5 to me. There is some road noise but it didn't keep me up, the crickets are loud though :)There is 2 grocery stores in the area and one is better than the other. the easiest one to access is just down the street. walk out the hotel, turn right go to the lights and cross the street, its right there. The second you can do the same but keep walking past that store, past the CIBC bank and you will see it. There is a quicker way by way of cutting across some homes "village" but you will probably find it once settled. You can use barbadian dollars or us dollars. $1us=$2barbadian. Food is expensive so I suggest bringing, coffee, whitener, any seasoning you may want, snack foods etc. bag of chips is like $6us. you can buy your alcohol at the store as well. Rum is pretty cheap $7 us and up, but vodka is not as cheap, $20us +. beer is pretty good.Coke is like $5.89bd ($3us) for 2 liters. The beach is beautiful and has white sand. Some vendors do come up every now and then. its not a large beach but we hardly had anyone on it the whole week. we enjoyed great night swims. the pool is nice and warm as well.Beach towels are available. They will put out beach umbrellas for you. don't forget to tip. they don't make alot of money and its expensive to live. Its extremely humid so you will appreciate the a/c in the room. There is a restaurant on site but it was closed this week. lots of restaurants along the road. Bridgetown has alot of duty free shopping and its only 7km away. you can take the bus, taxi or flag these cab like vans that people share for a few dollars. its interesting how they stop and ask if you want a ride. Barbados is amazing for friendliness and i felt totally safe the whole time.

Room Tip: the studio room has a full kitchen and is large. i tried room 303 and 104. there is road noise as on...

Sitting in the airport wishing I did not have to go home. We have had a wonderful time in Barbados and the staff at the Coral Mist made our stay in Barbados extra special. We came here to celebrate our 25th wedding anniiversary and 2 days into our trip we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite this was such a wonderful surprise.Thank you Coral Mist. The weather was fantastic the food was wonderful and the hotel is right on the beach.Very comfortable and clean rooms you will not be dissappointed if you book this hotel, a little gem in paradise.

Room Tip: Ask for the 2nd or 3rd floor rooms in the coral mist hotel.

Stayed here once again in Aug 12 for 2 weeks. Nice big clean rooms all with a beautiful sea view. Beach is lovely and free loungers are put out in the morning and are always available throughout the day. Pool really nice and clean.
Staff are all really pleasant, Reggie (helpful as ever) fixed us up for a day on the Calabaza catamaran which was fab.
The hotel is a 15 minute walk into the Gap which has a selection of bars and restaurants but locally within 5-8 minutes walk there is also others in the opposite direction.
The only real disappointment this year was the on site restaurant, they had a really nice menu but unfortunatly nothing much available! On the first day we tried to order some cocktails but these were not available, I then had a really poor rum punch, tasted more like Rum and water! We tried again later in the week but once again really poor drinks and hardely any choice of food. It is a shame as when I visited a few years ago it was really good and we spent quite a bit of money there, I hope this is sorted for our next visit.

Please dont let this put you off as the hotel is really excellent and would recommend to anyone!

Room Tip: ground floor room terraces are not very private as it has a walkway to beach/pool.

Family of 3 - very large room with kitchenette and private balcony facing sea and beach. Location good - near to all nightlife and fantastic beaches on South Coast. Facilities at hotel good (you can use facilities at Blue Orchid adjoining too) - 2 pools, games room, gym, free wifi in room and use of computers in hotel. Hotel exceptionally clean.Reggie is a star at organising car hire, trips etc. Managers cocktail party Wednesday evenings. A huge thank you to Reggie, the reception staff, the cleaners, grounds staff, beach staff and Mr Liverpool the security guard (who was always smiling) for being so helpful, friendly, and amenable during our stay.
Only gripe I would have is that when we tried to get food at the restaurant, they only had beefburgers. When we went to the bar, they did not have hardly anything to serve - no Banks beer and no rum (in Barbados!?!) - if these facilities had been fully operational, the hotel would have gained additional income from us as a family of approx £500 during our stay - a large income from just 1 family and the hotel has 32 rooms. If the hotel could address this small problem, then I am sure that we could have rated the review 5 star. Other than that, the holiday and hotel were perfect. Would recommend to families and couples as something for everyone.
