“Very good hotel with poor city/village beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

We are family from Serbia, with 2 years old child, and we were in Hanioti, staying in Hotel Renaissance in June 2012. It was beautifull 2 weeks staying on Kassandra peninsula
and we can freely say that the Renaissance Hotel fullfiled our expectations.
It is quiet and clean Hotel, with helpful staff (especially our hostess on the reception
Ms. Eleni, and girl from the restaurant, Ms. Ilani - sorry If I didn't speel it well...).
The hotel staff really tried to keep high standards and quality of the hotel.
On the other side the hotel have only buffet breakfast (which were mostly very good)
but we didn't have any options for dinner, not even "a la cart" dinner service as a possible option for the evening staying at the pool bar.
Nevertheless, we compensate that with few good tavernas in Hanioti village and selfservice in our room. At the end, we had to prepare food for our child and it was mix-service of restaurant (tavernas) lunches and purchase from the shop/supermarket for self prepared food.
The room was big, with beautifull bathroom but with poor kitchenette.
We didn't use A/C ( it works with closed doors) and TV was bad with poor signal.
Wi-fi signal was not so good but it was usefull.
As we were at the start of the season, (midlle of June) we have great weather (2 weeks of sun) and it was better than we expected.
There were a lot of families with the kids and we didn't care for our child socializing. Our recomendation to the hotel is to invest-purchase some of the kids props and stuffs for morning and evening kids playing at the hotel, as it is common thing in other, high rated hotels.
There were in neighborhood (100m/200m from the hotel,) other hotels with the kids playgarden.
We were just 2 times on village beach as it was always very crowded and there are rocks in the shoal of the beach. We traveled by our car and it was great opportunity to see other beaches
and other parts of the peninsula. We recommend west side of the Kassandra peninsula,
especially place Siviri and Sunny beach (30minutes/45 minutes by car).
The west side was little bit colder than east side, but still hot.
On the east side for recomendation is Xenia beach - it is the most famous beach on the east side. Kalithea and Afitos also are nice place and it is good to be visited.
One thing is very interesting - tavernas and beach services were the most expensive in Hanioti comparing the other places on peninsula. Even restaurants in Sunny resort were less expensive than the tavernas in Hanioti.
There is one old and very good local taverna in place Siviri, just near the beach - great fresh sea food and service.
We can conclude that if you decide to visit Hanioti and the east side of the peninsula, Hotel Renaaissance is very good choice. The best solution is to travel by car or to rent it in the village (hotel hostess are very kind and helpful and they will inform and instruct you with local market and services).
Morning at the hotel, day out of the Hanioti village, on the surrounding places beaches and evenings in the village Hanioti is the right combination for the holliday on the Kassandra peninsula.

Room Tip: We have good room on the ground floor, behind the main part of the hotel and swimming pool, with the...

The staff make every effort to be helpful BUT don't go expecting the advertised wifi (it's only reliably available in the lobby and in nearby rooms. And forget the a/c: it's only reliably available in some few rooms upstairs--and upon insistence (as we found to our extreme annoyance). The a/c system is virtually decorative--at night it's colder outside (in July!) than it is inside....Breakfast mediocre....Bad coffee....The pool is big but not well-designed and you have a two-block walk to the beach...

Room Tip: insist on an upstairs room--with individual a/c

Staying in this hotel from 07.july till 17. July, and eclverything in it is beautiful. Staff is very friendly, when me and my wife arived we got a welcome drink, in our room there was nice bottle of wine waiting for us, which was a nice gesture. Rooms are very spacious and clean, overlookiinng a nice swiming pool in the center of compound. Only problem is prices in hotel restourant are very high so I wouldnt recomed using it. Hanioti itself is very nice small place with lost od restaurants, bars and shops. Overall everything is nice, would recomend it to all who are thinking of visiting this region of halkidiki.

We have stayed at this hotel several times and continue to come back. It is located 30 seconds from the beach and within the town of Hanioti, close to restaurants, bars and shops. The rooms are large and spotless; all the ones I have stayed in also have a small kitchenette. The toiletries are nice too. The staff are wonderful, helpful and friendly. The pool is lovely and with the staff bringing you good food and drinks to order, we sometimes stay here all day and skip the beach. If you are traveling as a couple or have a preference, do ask for a large bed and not one of the doubles that is two singles pushed together, common in European hotels. Very reasonable prices too, including free internet access. The breakfast is very average but it's fine and included in the price. The Love Street café down the street does a great breakfast too, for an alternative option.

Most probably the best hotel in Hanioti in terms of luxury and elegance, the Renaissance is a small boutique-like property situated a few minutes walk from the beach. As a young couple in our early twenties we visited the hotel in September and absolutely loved it. It is beautifully maintained, with well groomed gardens and a kidney-shaped, very clean pool. The sunbeds were always perfectly lined up, and the decking around the pool kept spotless. There were not many families when we visited - I wouldn't advise this hotel for families as there are no real facilities for children - and it was wonderfully peaceful and relaxed. We mostly had the pool to ourselves in the day, bar another couple or two, and it was bliss.

Our room wasn't as luxurious as we had expected from arriving at the hotel, but was spacious and very clean. Towels and bed linen were changed daily, and we had everything we needed - comfortable beds, a well-equipped bathroom with a powerful shower, a lounge area with a sofa and television, and even a kitchen area with hob and fridge in the cupboard! There was a free safe, balcony area with seating and plenty of storage space.

We were staying on a bed and breakfast basis and looked forward to breakfast every morning. It was usually the same - sausages, eggs, bacon, breads, yoghurts, cheeses, fresh fruits etc - but it was lovely. We managed to get an outside table by the pool each morning with made it even better. You could help yourself to bottled mineral water and even champagne. Absolutely no complaints. All the staff we came across were excellent - helpful, friendly and fluent in English.

The area of Hanioti itself is lovely. The beach is a little pebbly, and much nicer and quieter if you walk down away from the tourist sections. The water is beautifully clear and quite calm. There is a large square with four roads off each corner, all packed with authentic Greek tavernas, souvenir shops, bakeries, convenience stores and bars. It is a very lively square, full of families and couples alike, and a great atmosphere. There are so many restaurants offering mostly the same menu, and they are competitive but excellent value for money - the food is delicious and there are so many you could eat somewhere new every lunch and dinner for weeks. There is a gorgeous, if a little expensive, bar on the beach with floodlights illuminating the sea at night - very romantic and chilled. We didn't see any clubs in the square which we liked - it's very much family-orientated, with everyone enjoying good food and wine (and, on the topic of wine, the house wines are fantastic - and just 5 euros for a litre!). We ate two or three courses every night, and not one meal came to more than 40euros for both of us - and we ate everything we had wanted. The Renaissance is about a 5 minute walk from the square, and you can't hear a thing from the hotel - always a sound night's sleep.

All in all this was a beautifully relaxed holiday, and we couldn't have wished for a better hotel. We definitely want to return to this little paradise! Please take bad reviews of the Renaissance with a pinch of salt - I am hard-to-please, a touch snobby at times, and I absolutely loved it. You really do feel like you're in paradise lounging on one of the Renaissance's reclining sunbeds overlooking a bright blue pool set against white-washed buildings and beautiful gardens.
