“Good last minute deal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We stayed for a week at the beginning of September having booked a last minute deal with Thomsons. The weather for that week was still very hot.
Our accommodation was good and the room was clean and tidy ; we had Room 22 which was downstairs.

We would also agree with most of the other Trip Advisor reviews in that it is a lovely place with a very helpful owner, Panos, who would do all he could to make your holiday the best for you.
Indeed, we would agree that the Trip Adviser reviews about this place were consistently accurate.

It was a pleasant walk in the evening into Hanioti town, taking a leisurely 20 minutes walk. There were plenty of choices of restaurants and bars although the town is predominately a East European resort.

We felt a week was enough as we thought the Thomson trips were quite expensive and as the location was quite remote, there was not much else to do other than sunbathe.
Our only small niggle was about the traffic noise so Panos kept the radio quite loud throughout the day. Overall, though, a good holiday and enjoyed the location.

Me & my Mum went on as last min deal. This place is lovely, its not big, only 22 rooms, and family run. The family are so friendly and really make you feel welcome, the hotel is very clean. With all your basic amenities in a self catering apartment. Check in was well organised and was quick and easy. The rooms are spacious. They provide you a clothes rack to hang up your wet clothes. The rooms are secure with shutters on the door and windows you can pull down when you go out as well as locks. Be careful on the floor and stairs, they are marble and slippy under your feet, Mum slipped on the stairs and hurt her back. The swimming pool is lovely with a good snack bar offering fruits, burgers toasties, drinks etc.. Thomson do a welcome talk the next day and take you through your excursions you can book, me & Mum did cast away and it is well worth doing. You have a day on a boat with a light lunch and 3 stops, one at a beach for some sunbathing and two for a swim in the sea. The sea is beautiful, it was still and very blue. Also if you go to Hanioti centre there is two tour agents on he square offering trips, we booked the Greek night through one, it is well worth going to. You have a good Greek buffet, unlimited Greek wine, and lots of Greek dancing and they get the audience involved. It was great fun. Hanioti is about a 20min walk away or 5euros in a taxi, don't take the main road it is to dangerous! If you cross the road and turn right at the bus stop and take the back road it is safer and then it is a straight walk into the centre. At night me and Mum got a taxi back as that road wasn't very well lit in the dark. Hanioti has a lot of bars and restaurants for all tastes. It is also worth going to Afitos by bus for a day, it is an old traditional Greek town, kept in its original style, it is very pretty, different to Hanioti and the beach in Afitos is beautiful! I really enjoyed my stay.

Room Tip: We had room 22. It was on the ground floor and facing the back so we got the shade, we also had a w...

This place is amazing Panos the owner is so friendly he and his family will do anything for you. We stayed the last 2 weeks in september and on the second week we were the only three there. Panos would always phone to find out what we were doing that night to see if we wanted the bar kept open. He does an amazing english breakfast with english sausage and bacon. On Thursday there is a barbeque. Also on other nights there is a quiz and bingo. The rooms are spotless with lovely views. On the downside there is a lot of roadside noise. finally I want to mention the trip to Mount athos what thomson dont say is you will be on a boat for four and a half hours, then a four hour coach journey this if stated would put a lot of people off. I wouldnt have gone had I known this.

Booked this late deal on the strength of Tripadvisor reviews and were very pleased with our choice. Panos, the owner, greets you on arrival. The check-in process is quick and efficient and he gives you an introduction to the apartments and how to get started (air-con, safe etc)
The apartments are spacious and very clean. Ours was rear facing away from the (sometimes busy) main road on the front. We didn't find the road noise too intrusive whilst around the pool area which is also near the road. Our small balcony caught the morning sun where we sat out each morning and ate breakfast and overlooked the hillside. Take some pegs so you can use the drying rails on the balcony. Apartment had a double bed rather than twin and the air-con was a must (35 euros for the week) and the bathroom, although small was fine and the water always hot. We used a safe deposit for our valuables(15 euros) and these are in reception so very handy and easily accessed.
The pool was clean and a good size with steps at the shallow end and a large ledge at the deep end where you could sit and cool off without actually going into the pool itself which we liked. The pool lining is unusual, a rough texture underfoot, but you soon get used to it. There were always lots of empty sunbeds and parasols and these were comfortable and of superior quality than most we have experienced. We recommend you take two pool towels as the sunbeds can become very hot to the touch in the sun.
The bar is right next to the pool with a few tables under a shady canopy so you can have respite from the sun whilst enjoying a cold drink or snack. We had mainly salads and plates of fresh fruit at lunchtimes and these were all excellent and good value (one was big enough to share between the two of us), the tuna being our favourite. We can also recommend the full English breakfast which we ate on our last day before departure. The iced lemon tea is also very refreshing. Panos may sometimes seem a little terse but once you get to know him he is very nice and helpful and tries to help make your stay enjoyable.
It is worth staying at the apartments on BBQ night which Panos cooks if enough guests are interested. At 10 euros it is well worth it. He also has a quiz and a bingo night if you like this but again only if there are enough interested parties and they take place at about 10.30 if it is not your cup of tea you wouldn't have to put up with it all night. During our stay there were only 3 couples that turned up for the quiz so Panos simply let us draw lots for the prizes rather than do the quiz. Lucky us, we won 1st prize-20 euros worth of food and drink. A very nice gesture we thought.
The beach is just across the road with lots of access points along its length. We went to a little beach side restaurant called Alexander the Great for both an evening meal and lunch and used the sunbeds there. All he asks is that you buy your drinks from him whilst at the beach for free use of the sunbeds etc. The beach is mostly shingle with large slippery rocks and stones as you enter the crystal clear sea so you need to find a good spot to negotiate these. We would recommend swimming shoes, of which there are plenty for sale in Hanioti (7-10 euros)
Perhaps the only downside to the Bella is it is a little isolated. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk into Hanioti on the flat but may not be suitable for those with walking difficulties. Panos is happy to ring for a taxi to take you into town (5 euros) but we always walked. Hanioti was a little over-commercialised for our liking but there were plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from and catered for all tastes.
We walked to the next resort, Polychrono, one night which is in the opposite direction to Hanioti along the old road which runs parallel to the main road (turn left outside apartments instead of right ). This took us about 25-30 minutes at a steady pace. Again, there are lots of restaurants and bars along the sea front. Food is reasonably priced in both resorts.
All in all a quiet little apartment complex if you are looking for a relaxing break.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear so you're not disturbed by road noise

the Aparthotel is well situated, close to the beach, simply furnished but with all the basics you need and incredibly clean. Real value for money. Maid service is daily. The pool is well maintained and there is a small jacuzzi. Panos the owner and his family serve salads, snacks and light meals at the bar, which is open all day and late into the evening,as well as a wide range of alcoholic and soft drinks and coffees. Air con was 5 euros a day, definitely worth it, worked beautifully and kept us cool as the temperatures were in the 90s. Panos ordered us taxis into Hanioti- we found them very reliable. You can walk but take the minor road not the main road as the traffic can be fierce and the pavements are few. Taxis are only 5 euros though. Hanioti has bars, restaurants, shops, pool halls, and for younger ones there's a great little ball pool and crazy golf place that's open until after midnight and serves snacks and drinks but also has a bar for the adults.

Room Tip: rooms on the first floor mean you avoid the noise of people coming back into the building late at ni...

We spent 2 weeks in the Bella Grecia hotel, the rooms were very clean and had everything you needed. Panos the owner was very welcoming and friendly, also him and his family couldn't do enough for us, we all got on really well with them. Its just a 15 minute walk to Hanioti square which is full of shops, bars and restaurants and plenty to do. The pool area was lovely and pool bar was very good serving food, snacks and drinks all day. Will definitely be returning to see Panos and his lovely family again.

We have just returned after spending two weeks at the Bella Grecia, the pool was lovely and quite warm and welcoming, Panos the owner welcomed us all upon our arrival on the front of the Hotel and shook everones hand upon us all leaving which was a lovely personal touch, we found him very pleasant and funny! The place was very clean and we never saw a single cockroach anywhere in Hanioti, the walk into the Village was a little unpleasant down the back road and the taxi service was a little unreliable at times, all in all it was lovely, Air Con is a definite must have.
