“I`ll visit again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

My family had a great time at this hotel. Rooms were clean, breakfast and dinner were absolutely fine and the staff was very polite. You are located right on the beach and beautiful sea and also there is a small pool for the kids...i don`t ask for more for a quiet family holliday. Nice rates also, very good value for money, at least for the off-season period(May).
I`ll definitely pay a visit for a weekend or a short holiday break again.

Room Tip: If you have a problem taking the stairs up, look for a room in the second building, with the elevato...

The weed-filled flower planters, cigarette butts at the door, and the stained front desk are harbingers of the quality of experience guests receive at the Halkidiki Grandotel (as its name appears on the front exterior wall - apparently the hotel has a shortage of hs). If one missed the clues at the entrance, the fact that the elevator is primitive and often out of service is another hint. This Russian-owned, Russian-managed hotel has a strong majority (90%) proportion of its guests from Russia.
The quality of service and physical upkeep is short of that one finds in other all-inclusives. For example, food selection at meals is very limited and much of that is straight out of a can, over-cooked, or served raw. Dishes in the buffet are unlabelled. contrary to the practice in many all-inclusives that use local food as a selling feature and as part of the cultural experience, and out of concern for possible food allergies among guests. Lack of information is also a problem in the guest rooms. Even basic information such as hours of operation of facilities, services, available, or how to use the phone is absent, This is not just a problem for guests but represents a missed marketing opportunity for management. The hotel also fails to provide any modifications for guests with physical disabilities.
No food is available at the resort between meals, although numerous beach peddlers sell high-fat foods such as doughnuts or butter-soaked boiled corn. And the nearby village offers some alternative dining establishments and a couple of small grocery stores. The beach is virtually paved with chaise lounges for which there is a fee of €6, spaced so closely as to create a challenge walking through them to get to the water. A high percentage of the chaises are broken (it is impossible to adjust the seat back to anything other than horizontal) even though they are still offered to guests. How thoughtful.)
Our room was tiny and minimally furnished. Even though we were there at the end of August, with daily high temperatures reaching the low to mid-30s, the room’s air conditioning operated only between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm. The bathroom had no air conditioning and inadequate plumbing, allowing sewer smells to come up into the room. Our shower stall was small and badly constructed. The stall doors fail to close properly, allowing water to spray over the bathroom floor when taking a shower; the handheld shower head is mounted too close to the ceiling, not allowing the shower head to be properly positioned. The valve to activate the showerhead was corroded into a half-open, half-closed position. Any attempt to move the valve resulted in nearly pulling the shower fixture out of the wall. The small bathroom mirror is positioned at a height that only someone 5’3” (160 cm) can use it.
Fixtures in the bedroom such as drawer pulls on the desk were broken or missing. The one chair in the room was a wooden chair that was too big to fit at the desk, thus taking up the little floor space available in the room. There was no set of drawers for clothes and no closet – only an armoire with no shelves and only four hangers for two people with a week’s worth of clothing (the standard stay at this resort). And reflecting the front desk, the room’s carpet was stained. The staff are friendly and helpful, but day-to-day management practices and the poor physical condition of the hotel still limit service quality.
In brief, although we paid for and were promised four-star service, this self-rated “four-star” resort does not respect guests nor does the management appear to have any conception of international standards of service. It merits only one-star.

Bad smell from bathroom, all the time.Room is very small, and bathroom too

Food: we waith every day about 15 min at launch and dinner for meat in the ranks, which are just beggining to prepare and give a limited, one or two pieces. Often gave food from yesterday. We were always hungry, we can't stay more than 1 hour to wait something to eat. So we ate in nearby restaurants, realy shame for hotel!!!

We paid for all inclusive, but you need to pay parking 15 euro for one day, insane!!!!!
Air condition don't work.

The beach is crowded with barely passing, no sunbeds for all. Thieves walk the beach and steal money and things.
At night is the noise, Russians sing karaoke and screaming, or for Russians Greek night also...

Stuff: agressive,unfriendly,unpolite...

Room Tip: Don't go there!

The hotel is pretend to be 4 stars but actually it is far away from this!
The toilet was not disinfected, the floors in the room and corridor were dirty and stained. The hot water was never enough in the evening. No soaps and shampoos reload.
It was terribly noisy! Each morning around 8a.m. collection trucks arrive and provoke huge noise. Loud music from the cabin was the soundtrack of the noisy garbage collection. All that happens in the hotel yard between the two main buildings, near the windows of the rooms.
Each morning (early again!), the maids knock on the door several times even if you send them away. The "Do Not Disturb" plate disappeared mysteriously the very first day.

The restaurant:
The food was the same all the 10 days we were there.
The quality was poor, we even noticed that the same dishes are offered on two consecutive days. They offered almost no fruits and fresh salads, which makes no sense in the summer!
And when they run out of something, they leave the plate empty by the end of the meal.

The beach:
Yes, the hotel is on the beach but they have a very limited number of sunbeds, which means the following:
- you must get early in the morning to forestall others wishing to occupy the best seats;
- sunbeds are stacked pretty close to each other and it is impossible to enjoy peace and privacy.
The beach is DIRTY!!! For all the 10 days we were there, it has never been cleared.
The all-inclusive was poor and stupidly organized. Ice-cream was given only to kids or to other people lying they have ones. They offered also the worst frappe I have ever drunk. We noticed that drinks paid at the moment were differently prepared than the ones part of the all-inclusive.

I will never stay in this hotel anymore. For me, it can't be given more than 2 stars. Not worth the money at all. If you have to stay there, never chose all-inclusive.

Room Tip: Rooms on the beach side seem to be quieter.

+Great location and beautiful sea,the food was nice
-Very rude and ignorant staff at the reception, never smiling, you have the feeling as if they can not wait that you go home!the Air Conditioning was a disaster and it was very hot in the room and in the main restaurant,so we never enjoyed our meals, very noisy in the restaurant . .They charge the poor Russions 15 euros for the Greek night for the food even if they are all inclusive, which is not the case in the other all inclusive hotels we have been to. and the dinner is very poor that night since they are concetrated on the Greek night and taking this 15 euros from the people. The parking is 10 euro per day and there is not enough place, they charge the internet 3 euro an hour and most of the time there is a problem with the connection. The rooms smell awful and the swimming pool is very small, like for private use.All in all,I can not imagine how they got the 4 stars!

I was with my family in this hotel for 10 days in June. The only good thing about this hotel is position – it is in Hanioti, but there is no noise, and the hotel has a beach! But:
1. This hotel is NOT a 4 star hotel.
2. The hotel has a beach. But the guests are not privileged to take a sun bad! A lot of guests that were not staying in the hotel were allowed to have sun beds in the hotel beach. That’s why sometimes we couldn’t find a sun bad, and we had to go on other beaches. In some hotels in Greece, that have their own beach, you can choose which sun beds (from the free ones) want to be yours for the time you stay in the hotel. So you pay in advance and they give you a key. So whenever you come the sun beds are yours, and also you can leave whenever you like! And then the hotel can also give the free sun beds to the guests that are not in the hotel, but the guests will be privileged!!!
3. The boy at the beach was VERY RUDE AND UNPOLITE! He wanted to go home early and he told us we have to leave the beach at 7 o’clock. And as you know in Greece you can stay at the beach until 8 o’clock.
4. The rooms are small, with old furniture.
5. The sef box in room was movable (it was not fixed in the closet)...
6. The food was not bad!
7. There was no free Wi Fi even and the reception!
8. They started to charge for the parking – 10 euro per day during the stay, although they didn’t say a thing about it before.
9. The stuff was VERY RUDE AND UNPOLITE!!!
10. The pool was very small!!! I think some friends of mine have larger pools in their houses!
