“Excellent Accomodation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

This is a superb set of self catering studios with a very nice swimming pool and poolside bar. Very friendly proprietors and staff. The Ampelia is located just the right distance from the village making everything accessible while being quiet and secluded. Good food at the bar and lots of pubs and restaurants only 10 minutes walk away.

Room Tip: The rooms overlook the bay and room 20 is located close to the facilities and pool.

Me and the family stayed at the ampelia studios in august 2012. First impressions were good as we were met and showed to our spacious and clean rooms. All of the balconies have lovely views of the sea. The bathrooms were clean and the shower was fairly powerful. The beds are the comphiest beds I have slept in in greece, and it is very quiet at night.
The pool is very clean and warm and there were plenty of sunbeds. The food served at the bar was cheap and delicious . I would say the temperature ranged from 30-40 degrees (brilliant) but there are comphy seats in the shade and a large bookcase with a range of books.
Hanioti is a lively town with lots of restaraunts but I would recommend renting a car or getting a bus to the neighboring towns and villages to explore the stunning beaches and beach bars.
Overall I have no complaints whatsoever about our stay and would recommend this hotel to any families or couples looking for a relaxing holiday in a picturesque town.

An added note, we went on the boat trip excursion which was AMAZING . would deffo recommend.

Me & Jodie spent 2 great weeks at this gem of a retreat. Superb bar snacks, lovely pool, and fantastic hospitality. . . felt very much at home and we met some great people.
Plenty of nice places to eat & drink in town & we recommend a trip to Afitos ... great beach and nice restaurants!
Would happily go back. . . . (Andy you owe me a Mythos!!)

Can't fault Poppy and Pandeli's laid back and welcoming approach. Relaxing and modern pool set up as per 'photos. Comfy beds, high pressure showers and very clean rooms all with sea facing balconies.
A 10minute walk down to Hanioti town which had plenty of reastauruants and bars. Top two for us were Pallini's (roof top terrace eating with ultra friendly service and good wine) and "The Lighthouse" fish restaurant - they'll show you fish and talk / guide you through preferences (e.g. whole, to share, grilled etc) or just provide you with a mix of everything (some great squid and bass).
Both of these places are on the same street as Natura, a great shop mixing touristy gifts with Greek food and drink favourites; most nights they were giving out samples near the front.
Transfer from Thessaloniki about 1hr 30m. Definately go back and stay here again.

Have just returned from an excellent 10 day stay - the accommodation, pool & hospitality could not be faulted. The location is ideal if you want peace and tranquility. A 10 minute evening stroll to the main square is a must, it is vibrant and has an excellent range of bars and restaurants that offer excellent value. We were paying around 20 - 30 euros for a two course meal and 1/2 litre of wine. Hello to Jody, Craig, Michelle & Richard.

Had a lovely week with Poppy & Pantelis. Great food from the bar- best Greek Salad going!
Very clean throughout. The pool is great- with a small pool for little one's. Lovely sitting area.
Rooms nice and comfortable and spotless- towels and sheets changed mid week.
A walk to the beach and down in to the square- didn't mind this at all.
Nice touches for a self catering appartment- washing up liquid and toilet rolls provided.

We have just returned from a weeks hol . 7th Sep 2012. I can not fault the accommodation service or the area.
The apartments are spotlessly clean, spacious, they all have a balcony's. There were useful touches not normally seen in self catering like washing up liquid and soap , towels and bedding changed x2 per week . The room is simply furnished but has a full size fridge, good shower, and really comfortable beds.
The pool area looks just like its advert pictures , a really nice area to hang around, good bar food. The music was kept to a sensible volume, and as for the choice of music they were open to play what suited those around the pool , just ask them to change it if you dont like it.
It is 10 -15 min walk to the beach and town. but its a nice walk, but if you are restricted in your mobility I would suggest a car hire, which is cheap and not a bad idea anyway if you like to explore. However personally we enjoyed the walk, including chatting with the horses. It feels very safe at all times of day and night. For us it was nice to stay somewhere that had a tranquil feel.
We hired a quad bike, which was fun and again cheap and is worth if you want to look out side the town. 30 Euros from 9am to 10 pm. The staff at the hotel are very happy to give info and advise on any activity you are interested in.
The main town beach was to crowded for us but we walked a short distance to the left and there was plenty of sunbeds and parasols for hire at 6 euros for 2 with a free drinks.. The beach was clean in that area and not to many people, if you walk a little further there are no sun beds but only a handful of people. The sea was just perfect , crystal clear, warm, safe. wonderful!
The Food and restaurants were impressive, so many restaurants we ate out every day x2 a there was not a meal that disappointed us. The Pella beach hotel does a lunch buffet which is on the beach , at a cost of 4.50 euro for as much as you can get on your plate, the food is fresh and very tasty. In the evening we ate at a different place each night and were were not disappointed once, in fact we were surprised at the quality of food , every where was clean, as were the loo's , which I feel gives an idea of what happens behind the scenes in the kitchens.
People were very friendly and helpful, but never were pushy in trying to sell anything which was refreshing.
I would with out hesitation recommend both the hotel and the area.

Room Tip: If you would like a good view 1st and 2nd floors are better.
