“Summer 2014”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

We stayed at El Greco Hotel at the end of June, with my wife and 3 children. Our first day the flight was delayed because of the strike with Air France and didn't arrive at the hotel till after 11, that night the hotel had keep us a cold meat salad and offered us a drink when we got their. This was very nice of them.

The hotel is great and very clean, our room was cleaned every day and fresh towels put out for us, the staff are great and very helpful in any way they can be. The food at El Greco is lovely as well, we were all inclusive and never got sick of seeing the same food, as they changed it up for every meal time. The dining room is over looking the beautiful surroundings of Portinatx and is easy to chill out in.

The pool is a bit small, but it was never to packed that you couldn't get in, either to play in it or go for a swim and a small kids pool to go with it also the pool seemed to be cleaned every couple of days. There is also a balcony for people to sun bath on, so if you are here not as a family you also have somewhere away from children to relax, and still close to pool. I though this was a good idea. Also you have a 2 min walk till the beach and the water park, it's hard to beat that, the water park has 4 adult slide and 1 kids slide, it's not that big but it does the trick. You also have sun beds and poolside bar at the water park as well. The beach is great being so close to you, sun beds and umbrellas are €5 each. Though we went in the evening after our two younger children had a sleep. The water is the beach is very clear that you can see the fish swimming in it, you can also hire boats with slides on them and do water sports, all looks good craic but maybe in a few years for my family.

Portinatx isn't that big so you can walk round it handy enough. Vincent's Bar shows all sports including GAA games if you ask them to put them on, Sixto's does a glass bottom boat tour of Portinatx and their is also crazy golf available.

The kids club staff work very hard and all the kids love them, the same staff do the entertainment in the evenings, though I think it would be better for the hotel to get some outside entertainment in a few more nights as the night we show the Chinese acrobats was the best entertainment of the week we were there.

Loved the cocktails the hotel puts on from about 4.30 so you can just go and help yourself :)

Overall we had a great week in El Greco and in Ibiza, totally recommend this hotel and can't understand why its not No:1 for Portinatx, the down side till the hotel is too many steps they need to install a ramp (one that runs from the front of the hotel, round to the beach and back up by the pool would cure a lot of problems with families with buggy's!!), the wifi is to slow and only works in reception and also dinner starts a bit late at 6.45 these are the only down sides I found with El Greco other than that, it's a great hotel.

Room Tip: If you can get one of the rooms that overlooks the pool you'd get a great view of the Ibiza sun...

Were very pleased overall with the hotel and the staff. Everything was spotless and the food was excellent. We thought the pool looked rather small for the hotel in the brochure but that was fine as we love the beach. We did however use the pool and it was fine especially if you went in around lunch time when it was quiet. Our only issue was with the beds and pillows - my husband had a sore back from the beds and the pillows were truly awful, on hindsight I should have asked at reception for a change of pillows. Not sure if we would go back as a couple as there were a lot of children however if we were taking our grandson with us we would certainly use this lovely hotel. Just a quick thanks to the entertainment team we enjoyed participating in their activities.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We really appreciate you taking your time .
At the same time we are grateful for your helpful suggestions that make us obliged to keep on improving our services day by day. We really are thinking about renovating a large number of beds and pillows for the following season .

This was our 2nd time at the el greco and definitely won't be our last we are already looking into booking up next year with our 2 girls and our friends and there kids! Highly recommend to anyone with kids and fussy eaters!! My kids loved the animation team (casper especially I don't know why he isn't team leader) always stuff to do. My girls had a ball at the water park and the beach is lovely. Never had a problem getting a sunbed even though it was busy! The only thing I would say is the both times we have been we haven't had very good views from the balcony which I would love. ALL THE STAFF were outstanding always very helpful and attentive. Rooms were spotlessly cleaned everyday. Amazing holiday and hopefully see you all next year!!

Went as a couple and although it is a family hotel we didn't really notice the children. Rooms are great two double beds in room clean and plenty of wardrobe space. Food was great plenty of choice and choice of drinks at bar wide and varied. Definately need bigger plastic glasses on a night by pool area this was a reason we didn't watch the entertainment . A fantastic hotel and will be booking for two weeks next year. Highlight was feeding the fish in the sea amazing.

We are very pleased to receive positive comments from our customers as they are very motivating and rewarding.
Hope to see you again with us and I cannot promise anything with the glasses but we started the season with a plastic glass of 7,8 ounces and we have now a 8,5 ounces (near half point).

Just returned from a weeks holiday at the El Greco. We travelled with two children aged 4 and 7. Location is really good and the beach was gorgeous. Sun beds are 5 euros each and umbrellas also 5 euros. The sea is lovely and clear and very clean. Hotel was clean and tidy with rooms kept very clean every day with new bed sheets and towels daily. The staff were friendly and helpful especially Casper from the entertainment team who was always so happy and the children loved him. However the restaurant and pool area was always so busy and very cramped. The tables are too close to each other and was so busy at times it made getting food safely for the children hard work. The pool was also too small for the hotel and trying to get a sun lounger was sometimes difficult. There was also never enough umbrellas around the pool and when really hot you need an umbrella. Most of the umbrellas were broken and when the wind blew they either fell over or turned inside out. The hotel should invest in some better quality umbrellas. The restaurant and pool area were clean and the choice of food was good. The ice creams for children were also very good which our two children loved. Overall we had a nice holiday but did eat out three times in the resort which was lovely as restaurants on the beach and sunsets were amazing. The hotel could just make a few changes to make it the four star as rated in the brochure.

Room Tip: Avoid low level rooms as too close to the entertainment in the evenings.

Just returned from El Greco , we loved hotel, food was superb lots of choice, we travelled with first choice, Sandy the rep for the hotel was the best travel rep we have come across, very informative on hotel, resort, restaurants, and Island, superb small resort, beach fantastic, if you go make sure you feed the fish in the sea, only down side was the water park is very dated, but it all works and is clean, didn't bother us but their are lots of stairs/ steps , we will definitely go again

Room Tip: Rooms 1 to 6 , we had room 3 and the balcony was in the shade all afternoon and evening, nice and co...

Myself and my boyfriend booked this hotel through first choice as part of an all inclusive cheap deal. After reading some of the reviews, we weren't expecting anything amazing and was aware that it would probably be full of children so would spend most of our time at the beach... not the case!!

We arrived at the hotel after a delayed flight just before the dinner buffet was due to end. After a long day of travelling, it was a lovely touch to whisk us straight through to dinner and to keep it open for longer for the people from our flight. Great first impressions!! The hotel itself was even nicer than I was expecting. Cleaned thoroughly throughout daily, it was spotless. Same goes for the rooms. Our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels and sheets. Couldn't fault it! The room itself didn't have a great view from the balcony as it faced another building, but obviously we weren't expecting to spend much time in the room. You could pay extra for a sea view which is something I would say is well worth it if you like to enjoy the views from the balcony. The beach was one of the nicest beaches I have ever been to, such a lovely view. Clear waters, fish, white sands. perfect! You do have to pay 5euro for each sunbed though, but if you get there early and plan to spend the whole day there, it is well worth it! The pool was okay, lots of sunbeds but they seemed to be reserved from very early on in the morning which was a shame. Saying that, it was sometimes possible to still grab a bed about 11am. The water park was fab, with sunbeds there too.

The food was great!! I've only ever done an all inclusive in a Mexican resort near cancun, so was worried about visiting an all inclusive buffet style resort after that being our last experience. I needn't have worried. Fish nearly every day, show cooking, veal, fresh stonebaked pizza. There is a wide range of variety that would cater for even the fussiest eaters. Some bits were there everyday so those bits were repitive, such as burgers etc. But there was a different fish or meat dish on offer, so we never got bored of the food.

The entertainment team worked especially hard, and even though we didn't travel with children, you could tell that the children there enjoyed it. Casper especially seemed to work hard and always made an effort to talk to all the travellers. As a couple, yes it can be a bit family orientated but it is certainly not as bad as some of the reviews make out. Obviously it might be different during the main summer holidays, but june/july was perfect.

The only downside I would say is that they should of had bigger plastic cups around the pool and in the evenings. I totally get why they would not want glass around the pool, but if ordering a beer, it was only about a quarter of a pint each time. This meant you had to go to the bar frequently. Even half pint cups would have been better. Small matter though.

Overall, this holiday was a perfect week away that didn't cost much. The location is so pretty, and so different to the san antonio that people usually associate with ibiza. well worth a visit!!! I would also recommend the sunset cruise in san antonio through thomson and first choice. 30euro each, which is cheaper than a taxi there, and you get a lovely boat trip and time to look around after. If you decide to stay, you can, if not, hop on the coach back home. Ignore the bad reviews of fussy people, book for a lovely relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: Book a sea view if you enjoy to sit on a balcony. If not the standard rooms are more than adequate.

Sorry about the plastic cups. We do use 8 ounces and as far as I know this is a US half pint. We were using a 7 ounces and we recently have changed to 8. It's something.
