Just steps from the Clock Tower, Davaar may be slightly faded, but it is clean, efficient and well run.
Honestly, it is not the most attractive B&B I’ve ever stayed in, but Sue is kind, gracious and runs a tight ship. We had a spacious twin room (60£ per night) and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was very small, but the shower had great water pressure. Despite being at the front of the house, facing the street, the room was very quiet. There is also a nice reading/TV room on the main floor. There is also ample on-street parking around the B&B.
A few small improvements could make a big difference:
- The room had white cotton curtains, letting the light in. Putting in some heavier curtains would be an improvement. In the meantime I recommend bringing a sleeping mask.
- The wi-fi was weak and spotty in the front room (although, in fairness, Sue did warn us). Moving the router or getting a stronger one may help.
- Finally, their website does not open, as a virus warning pops up. I’ve advised them, but this has not yet been addressed. In the meantime, you can contact them at: Davaar@ClunieCameron.co.uk
The breakfast (included in the price), was served in the dining room and was very good and plentiful.
Although this B&B has not dissuaded me from trying another place next time, it is overall a very adequate place and I would not object to staying here again.
Curtains let light in, remember to bring a sleeping mask.
