Owner description: Glenfiddich, producer of the World's Most Awarded Single Malt Scotch Whisky, has developed a new tour programme for The Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown, Scotland. From January 2015, visitors will be able to choose from a tailored range of three paid-for tours, including an option to draw a dram straight from a cask in our oldest warehouse. The over-18s-only tours cater for all interests and budgets, from those looking for a unique behind the scenes distillery visit through to whisky enthusiasts seeking a fully immersive experience, and vary in duration from one and a half hours up to three and a half hours. Further details are below: 1. Explorer Tour (£10): a fully guided tour of the distillery and Warehouse 8, including a tutored tasting of four award winning drams. Tours from 9.30Pm - 4.00Pm Draw Your own Dram (£25): those on the Explorer tour also have the opportunity to draw a 20cl bottle directly from a cask laid down more than 12 years ago and log it in Warehouse 1's logbook. Glenfiddich Solera Deconstructed (£35): a new hands-on, tailored experience with a full introduction to Glenfiddich's unique Solera system. Visitors can nose several samples and enjoy a tutored tasting of 4 cask strength 15 year old samples before recreating their very own version of Glenfiddich Solera. Two tours daily 2. New Pioneer (£95): a half-day immersive experience for whisky enthusiasts. This in-depth tour offers insight into the marrying process in Warehouse 6, and the opportunity to bottle a 20cl whisky from the Malt Master's personal selection of casks. Finally, guests enjoy a nosing and tasting masterclass in the Grant Family Home, featuring five Glenfiddich whiskies matched with appetisers. One daily tour. We are extremely proud of the fact that Glenfiddich is one of the few single malt distilleries to remain entirely family-owned today and all tours will continue to offer an unforgettable insight into our unique, family-run heritage. We look forward to welcoming guests to our distillery.

“Pioneer Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

For my father's birthday last month I presented him with the opportunity to join the Glenfiddich Pioneer Tour. He has spent most of his working life in the distilling industry and so knows a thing or two about the products and processes. This tour far exceeded his expectations and the 3 hours this tour lasts for went past too quickly for his liking...
Sue, our guide for the afternoon displayed a very high standard of knowledge (technical and Brand orientated), and enthusiasm for the company & Brand, and she obviously enjoys her role meeting so many people.
The tour was pitched just right for guests who know the basics and are looking for that "something extra". Sue was able to answer all questions in depth and with significant technical detail that is surely way above what you would normally expect from a distillery tour guide. This technical information during the tour was very well balanced with evidence of her Brand knowledge and also stories about the original family members who built the distillery.
When you get to the warehouse you get to fill your own bottle straight from a cask and because this was a present for my father, I chose the same cask (from 4 options), as him and let him keep the bottle he filled and taste my one - amber nectar indeed!
The 2nd best highlight of the tour (saved the best til last), however was near the end when we were taken to the new tasting suite where you can see various items & artifacts dating back to when William Grant was still alive.
Then, what my father really appreciated was the tutored nosing & tastings of 6 single malts, the oldest being their 30 year old. This experience was not rushed in the slightest, in fact we overran by quite a while and this meant we were able to enjoy and compare all 6 samples accompanied by Sue's detailed and informative descriptions.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a more exclusive experience and it was certainly well worth the £75.

A side trip that turned out to be most worthwhile and enjoyable. We did the full tour which offered taste tastings at the conclusion of the tour.

The tour guide was well informed and after watching a short film about the history of Glenfiddich Scotch Whiskey, we explored the distillery and the making of the wonderful whiskey.

The working distillery was exceptionally well set up and had a cafe and gift shop on site. Very professional and educational.

My partner and I made an unplanned visit to the Distillery on the way from Aberdeen to Rothiemurchus (Aviemore) and we were not disappointed. We did not have time to take the full tour but were offered to view the 15 minute video and then sample some of the brands. The whole experience at the Distillery was 'top quality' from the presentation of the shop to the food and restaurant; we were made to feel extremely welcome and staff were very engaging and informative and the visitors areas are well kept, very clean and tidy.

“Very big (the biggest) distillery in Scotland Glenfiddich”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Very big (the biggest) distillery in Scotland
We make a trip from Pitlochry to Dufftown north off the Highlands. It was a beautiful trip through the Highlands, quite, nice weather and beautiful country. A few miles before Dufftown we drive through a place where barrels / drums where made. They are all put on each other up to 20-30 barrels high. All kind of colors, we think these are used for Glenfiddich, but we are not sure.
Glenfiddich is a very big distillery, parking is big and the ground the terrain is very big. First you walk to the shop, it was not clearly where we had to go to, but there were some people who helped us. From the shop we were directed to another building where the tour started with a film. The tour will cost you nothing. A very nice person in a kilt was awaiting us and my wife wanted a photo with him. Off course he did and after the film a nice lady did give us the tour. You can see at the whole distillery that it’s the biggest in Scotland. Also the distillery house is big with more than 10 stills. Everything was spot clean building, equipment and gardens. The tour was good but we didn’t see the storage. Yes you will see a small sample but not the real one. After a perfect organized tour, really nice lady, we ended in the tasting room. Here we were treated for 3 different years of Glenfiddich, 12, 15 and 18 year old. Also a perfect explanation about the tasting of these whisky’s was given. Again all for free. After that the tour was over. Because we have to go back a long way we asked if there was coffee to buy in the neighborhood. But we didn’t have to go very far because you could also get coffee here also for free.
So the trip to this distillery was more than the 2 hour drive worth. All was very clean and a perfect tour. Because we didn’t see the real storage I give not the whole 5 points. But I can recommend everybody to this distillery.
