“Simple but ok place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2012 via mobile

Negatiotate room price. We got AC rooms at RM70. AC seemed to have two positions: on or off. Thus it can get cold at night. Bring or ask for blankets.

Dirty walls, dirty bathroom, aircon and warm shower was a bonus. Good location in the village.

We arrived in Taman Negara without having booked anything. While comparing several hostels and hotels, this came out as the best... although that says more about the other hotels, which were dirty and humid. We had an aircondtioned room for 50 ringit, which is a pretty good deal I think. Airconditioning is a MUST, don´t forget that, Taman Negara is a tropical rainforest and it´s about 40 degrees and bloody humid... so without one your room is a microwave.

I read on the other reviews that they had dirty rooms here, but that changed. Our room was clean, both our bedding and shower, and we had a little balcony. It was very small though, I´m glad I only had a small backpack on me, I wouldn´t have known where to drop a suitcase. No closet. But I was reading reviews about rats and insects in other hotels in Taman Negara, and compared to that this room was heaven.

Service is absent. While we arrived, a girl at reception looked at us very annoyed. She said she had a room if we wanted, and when we asked to have a look she seemed very angry. Then she asked: "you want it or not, you can go if you want." Maybe she was just having her period, I don't know, but she gave is the impression that we where a nuisance for her where she wanted to get rid off. I also accidentally locked myself out once, and they didn't have a spare key to open the door... my boyfriend had to climb up the balcony to break in to our own room, which was surprisingly easy. So, don't forget to lock the windows, as they don't have safes or anything!

No breakfast, no internet or wifi (but possible across the road in an internet cafe), no drinks or food. Normally there's only 1 restaurant at a time serving food in the whole village, but all of them are very close.

Oh, and another tip: you might think that the black mirror-windows aren't see-through... but that's only true during the day. I found out (naked) that you can see everything through it when you have the lights on inside... nice ;-(

Room Tip: airconditioning!!!! and a balcony.

Old hotel with poor service. But rooms have airco which you will need in the intense heat of the jungle. Take room with balacony because doors/window lock poorly. Characterless, but good location in the center of the village, small mini market across the road.

My husband and I arrived in Teman Negara without a place to stay and decided upon the Teresek View Motel since it seemed conveniently located to the "town" with restaurants and jetty.

However, I have to say it's one of the worst places I've ever stayed. We weren't expecting a lot but we were first turned off by the service (if you can call it that) since our presence wasn't even acknowledged by the front desk clerk who was playing video games on her computer. She eventually turned around and said "Yeah?" when we asked about a room and then told us she had a room for 90 Ringits but we could have it for 70! We did find this pretty amusing since we hadn't even asked for a discount. but the room she gave us would have been overpriced at any price.

Not only did the whole place look as though it hadn't seen a paintbrush in many years, the thin curtain in our room had a hole in it, the room was grubby all over and there were no sheets on the bed (you have to request one from the front desk). Pillows are hard and lumpy, furnishings are old and falling apart and the only good thing we found was the shower, which had hot water and a decent stream of water (although the bathroom basin leaked into the drain).

Sadly to say, the whole area was somewhat similar in flavour for us. There was little friendliness, the food was not very good anywhere and it felt as though the region was set up to capitalize on tourists visiting the Teman Negara park.

Since we were travelling across the country (headed for the east coast), we decided to bag this part of Malaysia and move on in search of people who cared enough that they had guests and were friendly enough to want to keep them.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else

If all accomodation in Taman Negara was rated on a scale, then I guess this place could be rated a 3 or 4 compared to the other even more hideous dumps. But compared to any other county (especially Thailand) this "motel" is a firm one star.

We arrived, and hadnt booked anywhere else. We couldnt find anything decenlty recommended on trip advisor so thought we would take our chances by walking around. After running from the Woodland Resort we found this place.

The Teresek is dirty, cramped, ugly, hot & noisy (street outside is really noisy, is a really steep hill and only access to the river so you get to hear cars revving to the max and stalling all day and night as they try and get up it. The staff didnt smile once in two days (actually they had quite a good snarl going on). There is no restaurant or anything like that.

And it is really really dirty. The sheets are filthy and smelly, the bathroom was literally half painted. The walls also change colour half way through the room because the paint ran out and someone must have thought one horrid pink is as good as another. Exactly ZERO effort has been put into this place in the last 10 years.

After one night in an aircon room for 70 ringit (Advertised price is 90) We got moved to a fan room (50 ringit) at the back of the building, which we thought would be ok because the aircon was too cool on the road (shady) side of the hotel. But, no it was unbearably hot with the sun shining, and the fan was broken and so noisy. We couldnt sleep it was so hot so we had to drench ourselves in DEET and sleep with the windows open (no mozzie net or screens). In the morning when we walked down the hall we could see everyone sleeping in their beds as everyone on our side of the hotel had left their corridor doors open to get a breeze. Very strange to see old men laying in their pants, but hey it was desparately hot.

Also, as soon as you downgrade to the fan room the towels get even smaller (literally scraps of cloth) the sheets dont fit the bed and the pillows are literally, and I am not exaggerating, cut up old mattresses. Yes they had CUT UP OLD FOAM MATTRESSES TO MAKE THE PILLOWS!!!!.

I wish i was a backpacker so i could have just stayed at the 10 ringit place on the river. If it was a dump for 10 ringit I wouldnt mind. BUt unfortunately I wanted a nice place to stay with my boyfriend that was reasonably priced. If anyone finds that in this whole village please message me. Cause I sure didnt find it.
