“Slurp your soup”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Possibly the nicest meal we had during 8 days in Cavalaire. Big portions meant we ate far far too much. The dining suggestion is a champagne based aperitif, the tuna fish tartar starter and straight to a glorious dessert.

The interior layout was very nice and the waiting staff were uniformed in cool dresses. While we sat indoors, outside is a very happening wine bar with stools and loungers. I liked this place a lot.

Probably nicest is that it is based at the end of the port away from the maddening crowd so you don't feel like everyone and their mother is watching you slurp your soup

“Gold medal for worst service! Avoid like the plague”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

If there was an Olympic sport for worst restaurant service France would have won gold medal with this restaurant! Its a shame as the food is quite OK and if you are starving the size of the portions is quite generous. Is this a lack of management attention? Is this a complete lack of concern for the customer? very strange place.

Now I know this restaurant from before, but focus has changed in the last year or so, the menu is focused on meat (as the name suggests) and the portions were always generous, what has changed is that the service has been lowered to a level that it actually takes EFFORT to achieve. its like a Ryanair approach to service, lets insult the clients and see if they come back (but without the low prices). I for one will NEVER come back to this restaurant.

So here goes:
Come into the restaurant on a Sunday evening. Five clients sitting at tables, 4 people great you. sit down at table, wait at table for 15 minutes before anyone comes to the table to ask about anything.... maybe should have left at that point.

Order some drinks and get a menu card, order an aperitif (remember 5 FIVE other people at 2 TWO tables, so hardly BUSY! aperitif - doesn't come. OK lets be generous and give some grace, 15 minutes comes back for the order. order and remind about the aperitif, (funny thing is they bring a nice plate of nibbles - so they KNOW what to do they just CAN'T execute, its like a blind person being explained about a Van Goth and expected to be able to reproduce it. So the aperos finally come, except the tonic is flat .... just unforgivable,,,, Clowns

Finally the food arrives, but where is the wine we ordered? Now I have to get angry with the waiting staff, now beyond a joke,

The food was actually quite OK, worrying thing is if the service is any reflection of the attention to detail, makes you wonder what goes on in the kitchen.... Even funnier the waitress comes by the table to ask "how is the food" and being English we answer her question that the FOOD is actually fine (but don't mention the rest which is a disaster)

My daughters go the toilet and come back with the comment that too dirty to use (remember that not very busy) - NO TOILET SEATS - so they used the public toilets OUTSIDE which were cleaner rather than the toilets in the restaurant, can you believe that! Never have I come across something so bad.

SO ADVICE IS - STAY AWAY, STEER ANOTHER PATH, GIVE IT A WIDE BERTH, unless you are STARVING, HAVE LOTS OF TIME AND DO NOT NEED THE TOILET.....

PS for all the above not cheap.
