“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2012

We stayed here for 4 days in the "Honeymoon" suite and were and were disappointed with several things. The poor state of driveweays into the place which made it hard on the car and and risky to walk, partucularly at night. The room was dirty and poorly appointed, not even a cupboard to put clothes. The towels provided were dirty and the bathroom was disgusting. The toilet did not work properly. The digital tv was hooked up to rabbit ears so didn't work most of the time. The only thing going for the apartment was it's location, it as well located to everything and only five mins from Salamanca.

Room Tip: if you have to stay here, take the Bay View Suite

I am pretty picky about where I stay when on holiday and Possums ticked all the boxes for me. Very clean, located close to the CBD, shops, chemist & bottle shops...but seems like it's in the bush once you are there. Eggs, bread, butter, coffee, tea, milk ready to go (as well as candy canes as it was just after Christmas when we got there) The owners weren't all up in our faces once there which was lovely as I'm on holidays and don't need over-hospitality. I would totally stay there again.

After a few nights in the lovely Cradle Mountain Highlanders, arriving at Possums Apartment was not disappointing (and with such a price tag! unbeatable). We stayed for 2 nights in the Potters Spa suite, lovely cedar wood unit with a garden! Owners were so friendly and I didn't even need to check in or out. Everything was already in place before I arrived. Such a stress-free stay. Driving to Battery Point for dinner was quick and easy across the beautiful Tasman Bridge. Really a lovely stay. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Hobart. (Oh yes we drove a Boxster which was not easy on the unsealed road leading to the Apartments, but that was our problem... who would rent such a car on such a holiday!!!)

Secured 4 nights accomodation at the last minute and were very glad to find the accomodation very much better than we expected, we were told when booking that the accomodation, in this instance, was attached to the main house and were asked if this would be a problem for us, we were very grateful to get accomodation in this location at late notice so no it was not a problem. The owners were very upfront with their description of the type of room that was available. As it turned out it was very quiet and private from the main residence.Took a relaxing spa in the massive bathroom after a big day at the Salamanca markets and had a great nights sleep in the HUGE bed. We were very pleased with our stay the owners were very friendly and even supplied our first mornigs breafkfast which we were not expecting, anyone that is looking for a very reasonably priced stay close to Hobart but not too close I would highly recommend. Really what more do you want or expect for the price?

Room Tip: We stayed in the room attached to the main house however we were given a tour of the other accomodat...

We stayed at Possum's for 4 nights and found it to be excellent. Not only was the location central to the places we wanted to see, but it was lovely & quiet also. If we had visited during the warmer months, we'd certainly have used the deck & setting, & enjoyed the garden & wildlife. We had been @ Salamanca Markets all day the first night we stayed, so a lovely, hot spa was just what we needed. We explored a little bit & found a great wood oven pizza place @ the village - the lamb is highly recommended! All in all I'd have to say we found it tremendous value for money, the room had everything we needed, the proprietor was very welcoming & we'll definitely go back.

Room Tip: The driveway is steep, but so are most in Hobart. Take it easy, change to a low gear & you'...

We booked a couple of nights in the Potters Spa suite which advertised TV, spa bath, electric blanket. Great we thought. Got there on a freezing cold winters night to find the room freezing cold. Thought...we'll run a bath to warm up and make a hot drink, Hot water ran out before we could get it to the level to cover the spa jets. O'K.... a hot drink. Tried to fill the kettle up only to find it leaked and was pouring out of the bottom. Rang the owner who brought over another kettle. Plugged this kettle in which immediately blew the electric. Rang the owner again who brought over a third kettle and flicked the trip switch. Got into bed to warm up in the electric blanket and watch TV.Unfortunately electric blanket didn't work ! After 40 minutes...electric blew again. Called the owner ( by now it was 11.30 at night) who told us to flick the trip switch. We had obviously tried that which was why we were ringing him. He came over but didn't know what to do and couldn't get the electricity back on. We spent a freezing cold night with as many clothes on as we could find in the pitch dark. All the owner did was go back to bed...no offer of more blankets or a hot drink. Or maybe a torch so we could find our stuff, pack and find somewhere else to stay. There were tiny little torches in the room with a light the size of a ten cent piece...no good to anyone in the pitch black cold of a Tassie winters night.Spent a sleepless night waiting for the dawn so we could get the hell out of there. Would have been nice for the owner to offer us a hot coffee and toast in the morning...but nothing...just a bill ! We were so cold and upset, we payed up and we shouldn't have...we were just eager to get out of there. Driveway to the property was full of huge holes...that should have warned us when we pulled up. These people need to learn some real lessons in hospitality. Might look nice in the photo's but they can't deliver and have no idea how to deal with a problem and the comfort of their guests! There are plenty of nice places to stay in Tassie before you should ever consider this place.

I liked what I saw in the pictures prior to travel. I thought ALL the rooms were independent cabins/apartments. I tried many times to ring the owners without luck. Eventually I chose the Spa Room. Just what I didn't want - it was attached to the owners house! The entry driveway and parking was not good. Lovely location but really needs work around the grounds. Manicured rustic is OK , untidy rustic is not good. There is a difference! The rooms were ok but need work - we didn't have ants - lucky for all concerned! Most travellers have been around the block a few times and many of us are not skint, so if you provide a good product we will come back and refer it to others. Quite frankly I won't be back and would feel embarrassed to recommend it to friends.

Room Tip: Don't bother - look elsewhere
