“First class stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2014

I stay here a lot as it is close to the office in the Netherlands. The hotel was a bit tired but the newly renovated rooms are much better. For this business trip I stayed in the wing with the 'Superior Rooms'. Really comfortable and spacious with great bed and quiet too always important when you have to work. Only disadvantage is that if it rains there is a walk to the restaurant and bar in the main building. Others reviewers have written and I agree that the restaurant is very good though if you are there for a few days take a short drive to Breda the centre around the market square offers some great restaurants in a pretty setting. All in all though a nice hotel with friendly staff at a reasonable price plus the ability to make coffee in the room, not always available in European hotels but something I really appreciate after a long drive. I would be happy to take my wife there which is high praise:)

Room Tip: I personally think if you are traveling with your partner the superior room is worth the extra to ma...

stayed here for one night in a standard economy room. Room was very large, bathroom dated but adequate and spotless. Eventhough Hotel situated very close to major highway, nothing could be heard either in hotel or room. Staff was friendly and polite as always. Breakfast buffet was very good with a variety of choices. Will come again.

We stayed on two different extended stays, four years apart. I would return again. We had the same room on both visits. Just happened that way. No advanced reservation was necessary. It felt so familiar. The room was in the original building on the second floor, a short walk to the cocktail lounge. The restaurant is outstanding, although better on the first trip. A large menu choice for lunch and dinner. Afternoon tea, in the sun room. Breakfast buffet is the best throughout the Netherlands. Welcomeing Christmas tree in the Main lobby and helpful, friendly, attentive staff, throughout the location. Ginger cookies on trays throughout the hotel. Prices are average during Christmas time. Just a great place. Can't wait to go back, again. Guests staying in the main building don't pay to use pool, spa, gym etc. Only draw back, no porter service to your car with luggage.

Room Tip: The main building is the original hotel. Rooms are older, spacious, clean, comfortable and quite...

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, in a superiour room with a wellness bath. It was on the top floor, so had a nice big balcony. There are 2 buildings, and we stayed in the one that didnt have the restaurant, bar, reception. So we had to walk a bit to get there. Enough parking spaces close to which ever room you are in. The bar closed a bit early and the hotel is not very close to nightlife; you would have to take a cab. Everything was clean and the beds were good.

The rooms are a bit tired and decorated 60s style. They may even date back to then! But the room was well appointed and large and had a separate bath and shower. No air conditioning and no windows. The only possible ventilation was the door leading out to the balcony. But the balcony was a shared walk way so was not secure. Good breakfast and nice staff and very convenient for the air base.

Perfect hotel for a family weekend – good food, ample amenities ( swimming pool, sauna, fitness center, restaurant, bar and casino), situated in an idyllic nature reserve.
Group dynamic and reason for stay: Family of 8, ages ranged from 12-49 and everything in between, plus two dogs. Our hotel stay was the culmination of a family trip to the Efteling theme park as a means of celebrating the close of the school year and kick off of summer vacation.
Aesthetically: The hotel’s main areas were completed to a high standard, with tasteful décor; the public facilities i.e. bathroom, lounges, restaurants are clean and maintained to a good standard. The property is situated in a wooded area ideal for nature walks or a simple dinner stroll.
Bedrooms: 2 superior rooms with whirlpool and 1 standard room, the superior rooms were completed to a high standard, modern décor, ample lighting, comfortable bedding and a generous sized bathtub. The standard room was large and spacious and accommodated 3 boys (14, 16 and 20) with ease, inclusive of front terrace and garden.
Restaurant/food: The restaurant compromises of both inside and outside dining, with a wrap terrace to enjoy the fresh air. Décor is in line with the overall aesthetics of the property. The hotel offers a generous breakfast buffet inclusive of a variety of morning pastries and fresh eggs; lunch and dinner options are plentiful. The overall food quality was enjoyable but not exciting, as to be expected when dealing with such a wide menu.
Summary: Very good hotel, friendly- strongly recommended if planning a trip to Efteling or the Gilze area.

Room Tip: Choose the superior room with whirlpool on a ground floor and enjoy the benefit of a garden terrace.

My man and I spent a wonderfully romantic time here as a little getaway package they offered on special with an in-room jacuzzi. BUT it wasn't really a jacuzzi; just a bath tub that bubbled on the bottom, but it was still nice. Nevertheless, the room was really posh and beautiful, the bathroom was spacious and comfortable and, typical of the Dutch, the interior was gorgeously and cozily designed and the ambient lighting was relaxing. They have free wi-fi, too, which is always a big bonus, and breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The staff were also really great; nice and helpful. We also had a three-course dinner as part of our romantic package and that was AMAZING!!! Wow, that was good food! The only drawbacks were that the bed was the typical European 2 twin beds shoved together and so one of us was always falling into the crack as the beds shifted out from each other and there was also no fridge. My only other gripes were that there was no room service available because we were in a wing of the hotel that was waaaaay far away from the main part of the hotel and hotel guests had to pay for access to pretty much every extra: pool, sauna, gym. But all in all, this was a pretty nice place and we had a GREAT, romantic stay, indeed!
