“Really good place with children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

We stayed two nights at Casitas Tenorio and this was one of the best places we visited in our six week trip in Costa Rica. Not only were the staff great, helpful and attentive, but they also really took very good care of our 2 year old. She got special meals prepared (a bit more children friendly), she got to help fetch the eggs from the hens (she still talk about that) and she helped to milk the cows one morning and make her own hot choclate! She never wanted to leave.... Also they have a small trail around the property, which you can also walk at night and admiering the changes. The Casita we rented was spacious, cleab, comfortable, with a fridge, a water heater and a nice porch. We had dinner there both mights we stayed there and that I can really recommend! It was cheap and very cozy and very good food. Especially the homemade soup for starters. I will definently recommend this place and would love to go back.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and highly recommend the Casitas. The casitas are very comfortable and clean. The breakfasts were the best we had on our two week trip. A huge plate of fresh fruit and fresh eggs from the farm, plus pancakes or beans and rice. It kept us going for our full days of hiking in the national parks or at Heliconias just up the road. We saw both types of sloths on the farm and the short hiking trail they have constructed around the farm was a great way to start or end the day. Anthony and his mom took great care of us as the owners were away. You won't regret staying at this quaint, quiet, working farm.

We stayed two nights at Casitas Tenorio and we regretted not being able to stay longer (unfortunately it was full the days after). Our "small house" was nice, spacious, well furnished and equipped (small kitchen). Breakfasts (included) and dinners (optional) were delicous, prepared with fresh local products.
Donald and his family are amazing hosts. We spent a lot of time just walking around the property in the early hours or at the end of day and we saw a lot of birds and some other animals. We also had a great time with Donald, who tought us how to milk a cow.
We highly recommand this place to couples and families and advise to stay at least 2 or 3 days. Donald can also arrange tours off the beaten tracks with people from the local community of Bijagua.

We had a wonderful stay at Casitas Tenorio. We liked very much to be a little outside of the town centre, surrounded by nature and quietness. Still it is only a couple of minutes drive from the town centre, so easy to go there for the supermarket or restaurants. The garden / farm at Casitas Tenorio is wonderful to have a stroll and to enjoy nature. We saw many beautiful birds, a sloth, a family of small bats sleeping under a banana tree and lots more. Donald's mother makes a great breakfast and keeps the casitas immaculately clean. We felt very very welcome and enjoyed staying at the place of Costa Ricans very much. They were very helpful in all ways. When they heard I have some back problems, they even provided me a more comfortable chair and pillows to sit outside. We booked the bigger casita and it was very clean and comfortable. It was even bigger and more bright than we expected it to be from the pictures. There was no wifi at the casita, but just walk some steps towards the reception and you will have perfect wifi for free. In all aspects this was one of the nicest places where we stayed in Costa Rica, especially regarding the nice atmoshere, high quality and low price. We liked to stay in Bijagua because there are lots of nice things to do (visiting Rio Celeste at Tenorio Volcano, walk to the waterfal of Bijagua at the Miravalles Volcano, definately do a night tour with a guide to see frogs and other creatures) and the town is not too touristic and offers nice restaurants and good smoothies! at the cafe in town centre) We recommend Casitas Tenorio from the heart!

Had a great experience in this very small B&B! Very friendly owners/staff, excellent meals (others than breakfast available on order), great garden around the houses. We enjoeyed being away from town (if you travel without car it's a bit too far)

Room Tip: Only two houses available; no differnce between them.

Well worth the trip over the rough road.
A family run operation. Mama cooks the breakfast which is served in a decorated outdoor dining are just a few feet from some of the most beautiful birds. The room was clean and Donald and his family are very accommodating. Our morning hike included watching Diego milk one of the cows.
Cant imagine a nicer place to stay in the area.
Not five stars only because of short time power and water outages and wireless only in common area. But this is the tropics.
Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Only two rooms. We had the smaller room but it could sleep 4 easily with bunk bed.
