“Rather bad than good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Dear Aeolos Beach Resort,

We have just came back from the vacation and must admit - it has been rather bad than good.

The beds. You really need to take care of this issue, unless of course you are trying to make money on the massages.

Very little space in general for the amounts of the guests - also, leaking roofs and such does not create the best atmosphere.

The food. It really does remind of the canteen in the school. Variety - yes, plenty. But the meat has been always dry and the veggies never had any taste to them. Half rotten grapes just to finish the picture.

The internet: as the other visitors stated, I do guess you are running on a low budget otherwise there is no point of charging the money for the slow slow internet with a weird log on//log off policy.

I must say that our room has been cleaned all the time and cleaned pretty decent, with the new towels everyday and we did enjoy the view and the area of the hotel.

However the Russian tourists seems to be the reason for your lack of professional service - they do get happy with much less, but please, if you are trying to call yourself a "resort" live up to it!

This resort is ideally placed for sightseeing in Corfu town and around the island. The main bus stop is right opposite the bottom of the hotel entrance.
There is a lovely walk from the back of the resort complex up the hill and to the palace, with some stunning views.
The hotel itself is well laid out and has a spacious feel. The rooms are clean and have all the amenities required and even though our room was directly above the main pool it was surprisingly quiet and peaceful. The pool area is also picturesque with an infinity pool with a view over the sea.
There are a few friendly cats and dogs around in the well looked after grounds and gardens.
The food in the main restaurant is ok with plenty to choose from, but cannot beat the fresh, cooked to order, pasta and pizzas at the beachfront restaurant.
Shame that the "all inclusive" bar option ends at tea time at the pool bar as it is a lovely elevated setting for watching the evening light fall onto the coast of Greece opposite and the drinks from the a la carte menu at this bar are not cheap.
The terrace area outside the main bar is a relaxed area for chilling out at any time of day or into the evening.
The main bar starts charging for drinks at 11pm.
All in all a peaceful holiday in a lovely setting.
We had a big thunderstorm whilst we were there and it was fantastic to see the lightning forking over on the mainland from the terrace.

we just came back from Corfu . we stayed 10 day in this hotel. beautiful location on the hills. lots of walking to main building and down to the beach. lovely housekeeping staff always smiling, very nice ladies. rooms were very clean with tea/coffee facilities. food was ok but not the best.the hotel should has more toilet in the reception in restaurant and on the beach. sometimes there was a queue to the toilet. hotel is about 20 min drive from Corfu town. in my opinion hotel was ok. just bar staff could be more people friendly and lively.

I'd like to grateful masseurs of Aeolos SPA salon. It was great, it just has added an extra pleasure of my vacation. Special thanks to Roubini for wonderful massage with "clever hands". I can't say that SPA salon could offer you something interesting as a massage. But staff are really kind and friendly. You feel very comfortable there.

We recently stayed at the Aeolos Beach Resort Hotel for four nights and were extremely disappointed with our stay.

We booked a standard room to sleep four and we found the room to be depressing, dark and not particularly private. Despite requesting a quiet room, we were allocated a room right beside the road, where passers-by could look directly into our room. That said I fully appreciate that room requests are never guaranteed, so I’ll let this one go.

Now on to the real issues with this hotel of which there are many …

The hotel beds are terrible, and as others reviewers have stated these are probably the most uncomfortable beds one will come across. The beds are rock hard and I was glad we were only staying for four nights otherwise I would have checked out and found another hotel for the remainder of our stay in Corfu.

Cleanliness, or should I say a lack of it is definitely a problem at the Aeolos Beach Hotel. Our room wasn’t particularly clean when we first walked through the door; in fact the entire hotel was pretty grubby in all areas and in dire need of a good deep clean. The thing was is that there never seemed to be any cleaning staff working around the hotel, as you see in most other large hotels, and we got the impression that the maids did the bear minimum in their cleaning duties. For example, drinks glasses and coffee cups which we left in our room were never washed out when the maid cleaned our rooms and bath towels were not replaced daily. We only found out about the towel issue when one day we returned to our room and found the towels scrunched up in the bath where I had left them that morning. Instead of the maid taking them out of the bath or even hanging them on the balcony to dry, she simply left them where I had left them, which meant we had to use wet towels after showering that night. I do not expect a four star hotel to only replace towels every two days – even when staying in a Greek hotel. But apparently this is normal at the Aeolos Beach Hotel, a hotel which "believes" it’s of a four star standard...

Now on to the food, which sadly looked better than it tasted and actually reminded me of glorified school dinners, bland and not particularly tasty. There was always a queue during meal times, especially breakfast, and there was always a scrum to get to the food counters. Furthermore, crockery was either chipped or cracked which actually put you off your meal even before you had started eating. The hotel is very popular with Russian guests, in fact over 50% of guests were Russian, and these “guests” lacked any kind of manners when asking staff for food or drink. In fact at times I did feel sorry for the hotel staff, as some of these individuals really did have no manners and would never say please or thank you. In terms of the drinks, in general these were fine, except for the soft drinks which were quite simply vile, far too sweet and basically undrinkable. We actually stopped our children drinking any of the soft drinks as they were far too sweet.

It really felt that the hotel was running on a very tight budget, wireless and safety deposit boxes were charged for and communal areas were in need of renovation. We also found the beach area to be scruffy and dirty, and whilst we understood it to be a public beach, I think more could have been done by the hotel to clean it up a bit, especially as most of the people who used it were Aeolos Beach guests. One night we returned from Corfu Town and caught some of the so called evening entertainment which consisted of loud shouting and tacky games involving hotel guests.

Cleanliness in all public toilets was non-existent – and these these were absolutely filthy. I would not expect this in a two star hotel let alone four stars - please sort this out Aeolos Beach Hotel as this is really not nice for guests who have paid to stay at your hotel.

On our first day we decided to use the main swimming pool, but this was overly crowded and far too small for the numbers of guests staying at the hotel. Furthermore sun beds in the pool area were old and in much need of replacement, as were the orange beach towels which you are asked to place a €10 per towel deposit on. These were no bigger than a face towel, frayed and had seen better days – again in need of replacement. The other hotel swimming pool was the children’s pool, located in a completely different area of the hotel, which didn't make much sense, and was actually quite depressing as places go. Around the pool were a few scattered tables and chairs and only two (yes two) sun beds. Why there were only two sun beds in the children’s swimming pool area I do not know. Furthermore the patio surrounding the children’s pool area was covered in weeds and wasn’t at all an inviting place to sit out in.

My biggest issue with the main swimming pool area was one of health and safety, and what I witnessed on the first day ensured that for the rest of the stay we did not use the main swimming pool, for fear of our children’s safety. At the infinity end is a dangerous sheer drop onto concrete and the safety barrier only covers a part of the infinity pool wall. As we were sitting down we saw a young child try to climb onto the wall at the end with no barrier and had it not been for a fellow guest shouting and his parents intervening I dare say it he would have fallen over the other side. Are the management aware of this health and safety issue? If not they need to be and they need to address this IMMEDIATELY before a serious accident takes place at their hotel.

During our stay we visited the a la carte restaurant by the beach. On arrival we knew we weren’t in for a particularly nice experience, mainly due to the rather arrogant manager who greeted us as we arrived. He wanted to make it known that we had inconvenienced him by arriving 15 minutes late, which I struggled to understand as the restaurant was rather quiet at the time of our arrival. This so called restaurant manager continued with his arrogance for the remainder of the evening, and would continually interrupt as I tried to ask questions about the menu. I don’t eat cheese and tried to explain to him if it would be possible for us not to have any dishes which contained cheese. He continued to talk over me, completely dismissing what I wanted to say, which resulted in a number of cheese dishes arriving at our table which I could not eat. If he had stopped to listen to what I was trying to tell him then it would not have been an issue, but he clearly liked the sound of his own voice and self-importance and was completely dismissive of what a hotel guest was asking. To make matters worse, during the evening he continually shouted at the other waiter and waitress, which got to the point where it made it extremely uncomfortable for us and the other diners. At that point we had had enough and decided to leave, only to find him shouting aggressively at one of the young foreign waitresses at the far corner of the restaurant. We felt really sorry for her, as she was actually one of the friendlier members of staff we had come in contact with during our stay. A note to this so called manager; please note that your actions can actually ruin a guests experience and this behaviour is not particulary professional.

We did use the concierge services on a number of occasions, and both them and the reception staff were polite and informative, no problems there at all.

We were so glad when our stay at Aeolos Beach came to an end and had we booked for longer we would have checked out sooner. In my opinion the Aeolos Beach Hotel is not a four star standard hotel, probably a three star at best and there are many areas the hotel management should focus their attentions to in order to bring it to the standard it claims to be. My closing advice to the management, please use the winter season to address the following issues:

- Take a serious look at the safety issue I mentioned above at the main pool. URGENT!
- Replace your old sun beds with new ones, especially those at the beach.
- Smarten up the children’s pool area and ensure there are enough sun loungers for parents to use. Two sun beds are actually not enough!
- Look to replace the rock hard beds which are impossible to sleep in.
- Change your policy of replacing towels every two days. This isn't acceptable for a 4 star hotel.
- Give your hotel the deep clean it desperately needs.
- Ensure you have enough cleaning staff to keep on top of cleanliness around the hotel and especially the public toilets.
- Replace those awful sweet soft drinks you give out to your guests. These are disgusting!
- Train your staff in the art of customer service. In general most staff, with the exception of reception and concierge looked miserable and didn't want to be there.

This is our 3rd stay here and again it hasn't disappointed.
The staff here are friendly, our room is v.clean and the food plentiful.
I have reviewed this resort before and I have to reiterate it is on the side of a hill so is hilly.
The beach is small and gravely with rocks in the water so beach shoes advisable.
The water has been warm and clear enabling you to see the fish swimming around your feet.
As I sit writting this from our balcony the view of the sun rising is spectacular.
Just a small thing, you have to pay for wi fi, most places we have stayed have had free wi fi this would be a bonus.
Bus to Corfu town roughly every half hour at bottom of the hill, €2 and approx 20mins.
Unfortunately we have to go home tomorrow but going home relaxed, we will be back.
This is our experience and ours alone, hope this helps.

Room Tip: All rooms we've stayed in have been similar
