“Great Holiday in a Beautiful Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

Got back last Monday (25th August) from a fantastic 2 week holiday at the Aeolos Beach Resort.

ALL of the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.

The location is beautiful with the hotel set on a hillside which results in amazing views of the ocean and greek/albanian coastline. (early morning visit to the beach is a must for great photos of the sun rise).

The rooms are not the biggest but who cares. You only sleep and get ready for the evening in it. They are clean and comfortable which is the main thing.

It was nice to stay in a hotel for a change where the brits were not the majority and everyone was friendly and joined in with the excellent entertainment team (thanks Christos and team!!)

The entertainment is excellent and varied throughout the 2 weeks.

The beach is beautiful and the sea is shallow and great for the kids. fish feed out of your hand and swim around you in the shallows.

The infinity pool is a good size and there are activities throughout the day for the kids. (and adults if you dont want to lay on your sunbed all day!)

Captain Alexandros will take you on his boat wherever you want to go on the island and is highly recommended. (pick up from the hotel beach!). We took a trip to Corfu for the day and he dropped us off and picked us up. Much better than getting the bus or taxis as you get the opportunity to see the beautiful coastline.

Although getting around the steep hotel grounds could be an issue for the elder holiday maker my family and friends had a fantastic time at the Aeolos and will definitely be looking at going back there next year.

We got back from this hotel yesterday. Our room was nice but a little cramped for 2 adults, 10 & 12 yr old kids. We could see the sea, just about. The room was always cleaned to a high standard.

Our main problem was with the food, which was always cold. Some of the choices were disappointing, rabbit, veal liver, sausages, chicken wings, turkey thigh, these are budget cuts of meat & not good enough for a main course. The kids buffet was the same every day, fishfingers, chips, rice & pasta shapes. Our daughter had chip butties every day for 2 weeks. It would be nice to see some choices to make sandwiches at lunch, I made egg mayo with eggs from breakfast. Cheese & ham were out for breakfast, but not at lunch. Breakfast was the best meal of the day for us. On a brighter note, the fresh fruit and desserts were gorgeous. The chef who carves the melons is a genius.

We were attacked by wasps on our evening at the beach restaurant & had to leave & eat in the main one. The food in the beach bar at lunch time is delicious & piping hot.

We loved to be by the pool in the morning & on the beach after lunch, we never had a problem getting a sunbed at either place. 126 steps to climb from the beach to the pool!

The gym has no air-conditioning. We like to keep fit, even on holiday, so the slopes & steps were fine for us. We walked up cardiac hill at the back, past the tennis courts, up to the palace, very few guests seem to venture up there. We also walked down the road at night to a beach with a stone walk-way. The pavement ends but it's a short walk on the road.

The staff are lovely, the bar staff are very tolerant of the guests with no manners.

The 2 dogs, Pluto (St Bernard type) and Donna were a source of much enjoyment for our kids, along with the cats, we couldn't get to the restaurant without stopping to fuss an animal on the way. Mosquitoes were a problem for us, the mossie plug didn't get rid of them at night.

We enjoyed our holiday, the location and hotel itself are fabulous.

We'd read all the positive reviews on Tripadvisor before booking and continued to check them right up until the day before our visit. We were absolutely not disappointed.

Arrival and Check In

Our transfer dropped us at the bottom of a steep hill which leads up to the hotel, we were a bit shocked at first but the hotel has a minibus which comes and picks guests up and takes you to the top - so don't try and struggle with your cases if this happens to you - a bus will be on its way. Check in was speedy, friendly and efficient with welcome drinks thrown in - alcoholic for myself and my husband and kiddy cocktails for the children. Definitely appreciated. Our room was some distance from reception so the minibus once again took us and our cases up to our two bedroom garden bungalow.

Accommodation

The two bed garden bungalow was fabulous, spacious, clean, plenty of room in wardrobes and drawers plus a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. NOTE - ladies - the hairdryer is rubbish - definitely take one with you - I had thank god, otherwise I would have been there all day - no-where near powerful enough if you've got thick hair!! The room was tidied and cleaned and the beds made every day except Sunday and towels were changed daily too.

We had a problem with our toilet as it wouldn't flush but it was sorted almost immediately when we reported it.

Food

The food was absolutely amazing. So good and so much choice and the staff worked incredibly hard to make sure that things did not run out. Breakfast, there was a choice of everything you could imagine, cold meat, cheese, fruit, greek yoghurt, bread rolls, toast, eggs, bacon, French Toast etc, etc and the "Show Kitchen" cooked fresh omelettes, fried eggs and of course Pancakes which seemed to be the most popular breakfast item by far - this was the only thing you ever had to queue for!!! It is worth noting though that breakfast is cleared away dead on 10am, if you arrive at 10 or slightly after you will not get any hot food, the continental breakfast is last to be cleared but things are cleared fast, by 10.10am, there is definitely no chance of any egg and bacon!!! ;) Lunch can be taken either in the restaurant or by the beach, at the main restaurant there is a large selection of salads, hot food, desserts and grilled meats/fish cooked freshly in the show kitchen. The beach restaurant just serves pizza and pasta but it's so good and the location looking over the beach is so fabulous, you don't mind eating there every day (it was my favourite meal of the day). Dinner again is taken in the main restaurant but one visit to the Beach Restaurant for the A La Carte is included in each stay and the hotel work very hard to make sure you feel special and well looked after on this visit. We really enjoyed it. I can't fault the food, both myself and my husband always found something to eat that we really enjoyed - as did both the children. The wine is very good too - which is always a bonus... :)

We did have to queue a couple of times to get into the restaurant but I think the longest we ever had to wait for a table was about 10 minutes and this was at breakfast - everyone seems to go for breakfast shortly after 9am, if you can get there for 8.30 you can eat in peace and not have to queue for pancakes!!! ;)

Pools and Beach

There are two separate pool areas at the hotel. The main lagoon pool which is quite deep and not particularly suitable for toddlers and a separate pool just off the main dining area which has a paddling pool and a shallow (ish) swimming pool. As we have two children aged 6 and 2 we spent most of our time here and it was perfect - height of the summer holidays and we never struggled to get a lounger, the view was fantastic and the area had its own bar at which there was never a queue. The larger pool was a different story - loungers seemed to have been taken quite early in the morning and this pool is also used by the animation team for things like Water Polo etc which take up practically the whole pool whilst they are going on - absolutely perfect for older children but not so great if you fancied an afternoon swim!! The toilets by the small pools were also exceptionally clean, and didn't have that poolside "smell" that so many poolside toilets have.

The beach too was lovely, it was a little uncomfortable underfoot so I would recommend beach shoes but the water was lovely and clear. However, I think the loungers were reserved before the sun came up so we didn't stay very long as there were never any parasols or shade which we needed with a two year old so we tended to stay round the pool.... However, I did notice that the beach got a little quieter later in the afternoon so loungers did become free around then.

Location

The location is perfect with stunning views and beautiful gardens. But!! It is very, VERY hilly and the hills are very, VERY steep. Yes we could manage them but we had a 6 year old and a two year old in a buggy and a lot of inflatables to transport to and from the pool so it was hard. The walk down to the beach involves negotiating a flight of stone steps, we are reasonably fit so carrying the buggy wasn't that much of a problem but it definitely wasn't easy - especially in the heat of the sun. We did try an alternative route to the beach which involved hills but no steps, this was easier but it then meant we had to cross a busy main road instead of going underneath it via the tunnel so the steps, although inconvenient, were probably safer with the children.

There is a lot of wildlife in/around the hotel grounds, wasps are a problem but they don't seem as aggressive as the wasps you get in the UK and did seem to dislike the wasp spray I had taken as I had read about wasps in Corfu before we went, there were also lots of little lizards (and some quite big lizards) running around everywhere as well as butterflies, moths and of course the hotels dogs and cats - which were so lovely and so friendly, the children loved them.

There isn't really much else around the hotel but to be fair when you are in an all inclusive resort, you don't need much else. We did try to find the Achillon Palace which is apparently only a 5 minute walk from the hotel but we must have gone the wrong way as, although we saw signs for it we never found the palace itself. We also took a bus into Corfu Town which was really lovely with some fabulous shops, I'd recommend this - it's only 2 Euros per adult on the bus (1 Euro 50 if you buy a ticket from the hotel shop in advance) and it costs 20 Euros to get a taxi (we got a taxi back).

Entertainment

We didn't do any of the daytime entertainment as we spent our time at the children's pools and the entertainment took place at the beach or the main lagoon pool. However, we did join in with the evening entertainment which was excellent. The mini disco was really good fun and the staff are exceptionally good with the children. We also participated in the Greek Night (22 Euros per adult) it was well worth the money - such good fun the dancers were amazing, the food was out of this world and we all got to smash a good few plates. The atmosphere was lovely at this event, I really enjoyed it. I'd have paid to do it again if I'd have been there for two weeks.

We had a fabulous week at the Aeolos Beach, we would definitely go back, it is unbelievably clean the staff are wonderfully friendly and work incredibly hard, the food is excellent, the wine is good, the pools for little children are fantastic. What's there not to love? If we can get another good deal (we booked via Travel Republic which was much cheaper than the operator prices) we will be going again next year. Thank you so much Aeolos Beach.

Transfer from airport - dropped us off at the bottom of the driveway (no explanation, but now know it's because the road to the hotel is narrow and windy).Thankfully the man at the moped rental shop explained how things are done! A minibus from the hotel collected us about 10 minutes later - which was nice.

Reception/ main hotel - speedy and efficient check-in. Rented safe for 20 euros for 7 night stay. Would be useful to be given a card with the opening times for the various restuarants.
Clean, lots of seating areas inside and out, bar, internet room, 2 small shops selling holiday souveniers, newspapers, books, sweets, snacks, etc.

Room 716 - garden bungalow. Lovely view. Double bed, but is very small. Fridge with a complimentary bottle of water; tea/ coffee making facility; wardrobe with lots of hanging space but no drawers; balcony with a table and 2 chairs and a lovely view over the rooftops to the sea.
The toilet in the bathroom stopped flushing, but this was very speedily fixed.

Not 4* standard - throughout our stay the room was never cleaned properly - mirror dirty; floor in bathroom had hair, bits and footprints from shoes; sheets were never changed. No maid service on Sunday - it's not that we can't make a bed, but when you only have 7 days off a year and have paid to stay at a hotel you want to be pampered the whole time.

Outside areas - very pretty gardens with a variety of flowers, lovely views and very clean. We managed the steep inclines despite it being very hot and not being the fittest of people!
The cats and 2 dogs are a delight and a real asset to the hotel - we are very much animal lovers and were missing our dog. They are very friendly and the dogs are extremely patient with the children who all want to fuss them.

Pool - infinity pool is lovely - clean, fabulous view and very inviting. Sunloungers are all reserved very early, but seem to remain empty until later in the day! The terrace by the pool is very small and really not big enough for the size of the hotel. There is no where to sit. There is a pool bar, but you cannot actually see the pool from it, which has limited seating, but it is shaded.

Beach - really disappointing. The area is completely taken up with sun loungers, which are all reserved under cover of darkness! The beach is shingle and entry in to the sea is either via quite big rocks or by wading through seaweed.

Food/ restaurants - The food is good, though not hot enough on occassion, with lots of choice and we always found something that suited our taste buds. The fizzy drinks are rather weak. The 'fruit juices' taste very strong, too sweet and reconstituded.
Not a 4* standard - the crockery is quite often chipped or dirty - lipstick, stains and smears on.

Staff are very friendly and work incredibly hard, thank you.

Entertainment - we were impressed. The animation team work hard. They entertained the children really well every evening. The adults were entertained with sketches karaoke, a quiz and music. We went to the Greek Night and really enjoyed the dancing. We were also lucky to be there for the largest moon in 20 years which was celebrated with a fire throwing/ juggling and acrobatic act on the beach. Really good.

Not the best hotel we have stayed at, or a great location, but all-in-all a good holiday.

A lovely resort with stunning views, consisting of hotel rooms and separate two storey apartment blocks. Our apartment had a wonderful sea view and was clean and comfortable. The all inclusive is very good value with buffet style full board including drinks and ice creams. The pizza and pasta beach restaurant is excellent and a brilliant place to escape the midday sun. The sea was clean, clear and warm! The beach radio entertained us for an hour each day which was a good addition to our days on the beach. I can recommend the Greek night when their was an amazing buffet.
We love this place and will definitely be returning next year. It is not suitable for those with mobility problems.

We had a very nice stay at this hotel. The food was very very very good, and the staff was very nice.
It has lovely pool areas and a nice beach.
The cleaning of our room was not very good. The towels were very hard to get changed, og the sheets on the bed didn´t get changed eventhough there were marks on it.

From Cleaner to General Manager you are guaranteed a warm friendly smile. There are no problems, only solutions. From push chair to pensioner there is something for everyone. Corfu town is a 1.5 euro bus ride away with all the shops an eating places of character.
We have been returning to this resort for 24 years and the improvements have been massive. This is a resort for the 21st century. The Island of Corfu is often referred to as the jewel in the Ionian sea, Aeolos provides the perfect setting
Excellent as always. Welcoming staff providing friendly and efficient service. Great location with facilities to match. Quality restaurants producing excellent fare for all tastes under Andreas the head chef. Fun for all ages. Highly recommended. Thank you Mr Andreas, Gregory, Socrates, Yannis, Mikos, Mikkis, Vangelis, Anthi, Violetta and Christos for making our holiday one to remember. Will definitely return next year. sas Efharisto poli
