“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Stayed here for two nights in a suite as being July and with no reservation that was all that was available so we weren't lacking for space. Also, we had our own sunbeds in what was nearly our own private garden area so no complaints there. Staff were very pleasant, the pool area was excellent, plenty of sunbeds and very clean. Breakfast not very exciting, lunch poolside was lovely but unfortunately nobody seems to stay in for dinner so we went to the excellent Pradillo and the Antonio restaurant and not forgetting Gaspers which was really good.. I would call it a very good 3* hotel in a great location within walking distance of restaurants, beach etc.

Room Tip: Not sure as they only had a suite left when we arrived with no reservation.

This doesn't pretend to be a 5* hotel - if you are looking for luxury, look again. But this is a fantastic, great value family orientated hotel. It occupies a great location close to town and the beach. Everything works, the staff are very helpful and everything is very clean and efficient. The maids do a fantastic job every day! Have stayed here 3 times - looking forward to returning again soon as love Zahara and this hotel. Thanks.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel in June 2013 while exploring the area. The hotel is medium sized and has a 'non corporate' feel. We found it to be extremely comfortable and clean. The bedrooms are large airy and cool. We had 2 rooms opening onto the pool area which is delightful though the pool was painfully cold! We found parking very easy though we were not visiting in the absolute peak season. Access to the beach was easy a block away.
The breakfast was good- lovely freash bread but 'long life' prepackaged pastries let it down!

Room Tip: Poolside rooms are good

Stayed at this hotel during the second week in September when the rates drop considerably in view of this, we thought it superb value for money. Being a family of 5 our family room consisted of 2 very big bedrooms with a flat screen tv each and one bathroom - very nicely furnished, comfortable beds and impeccably clean. Garden and pool and very well tended and overall the hotel seems superior to the 3 stars rated. Would definitely stay again.

When searching for a place to spend some beach time at Zahara de los Atunes naturally looked at TRIP ADVISOR however the Hotel Porfirio did not feature in the hotel list for this town. However finding good reviews on Booking.com it then appeared that this hotel falls under the Cadiz list on TA which is odd because Cadiz is many kms to the north ! Maybe it was listed under Cadiz PROVINCE?

Anyway it was a great find because of the position being within minutes of the beach and a nice part of the beach with a place to hire sunbeds and a small chiringuito beach bar. The town with all the various places to eat and drink is maybe 10 minutes walk away. The hotel position is in my opinion fine for a chilled out beach experience. What is more it does boast a large jacuzzi big enough for all the family plus a modest size pool. The design of the hotel is really nice and the beautiful palm trees around the pool make it feel more exotic. The organisation must be excellent because everywhere is very well maintained and clean. The bedroom was lovely and the bed comfortable. The AC worked and because the hotel appeals to Spanish couples in the main it seemed very peaceful and no noise to worry about at night. The stay was just after schools returned so maybe in peak summer weeks things do get busy but the hotel was quite full when we stayed. Many guests go to the town in the evening so the dining facilities tend to be quiet but food was very good in house.
Staff are clearly up to the job and friendly. If staying again in Zahara de los Atunes would definitely stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed good size and balconies useful.

We have just stayed at this hotel. The position could not have been better being a 10 minute amble to the centre of the village and 5 minutes to the beach. It is spotlessly clean with nice pool and jacuzzi .No english breakfast but a good variety of meats cheese etc. Everybody at the hotel are very friendly.

Room Tip: Worth paying a little extra to have a room overlooking the swimming pool. 3 steps down from the room...
