One of the most memorable meals we had in Sicily. We arrived in Monreale just after the cathedral closed for lunch so had to pass some time. I had seen that this place was top on Trip Advisor and it was well worth the short walk down from the cathedral piazza (we would have never just stumbled upon it).
We had a tourist menu for €15 which included antipasti (caponata, bruschetta, pannelle), a started of pasta with tomato and aubergine and a main of traditional sausage and salad. This was followed up by fruit or coffee. The waitress was very friendly and spoke very good English.
It seemed really authentic Sicilian food and was delicious and great value - a perfect opportunity to try something new. We had never had pannelle before and when we had them at other restaurants afterwards they weren't nearly as good as here!
