I stayed here for 2 nights and I loved it! The staff were friendly and the hotel was very pleasant. Although I didnt use it, the pool looked lovely. In my room i had a modern shower drink facilities, table and chairs and a modern TV with many channels. There were also the usual complimentary items. The heating system was good, the beds were comfortable and the facilities were great. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: 2nd floor has modern showers but no baths- 1st floor has baths. Side facing pool is much quieter an...

Location wise, this hotel is on a main busy road 7km from Lille. We stayed here as part of Shearings coach tour to dutch bulb fields. The rooms were of an adequate size with plenty of room and lots of light from the large windows. Ours was overlooking the swimming pool and grounds on the quiter side. The room itself was covered in white render floor to ceiling including in the toilet. The bath and toilet were separate which is common in some French hotels and toiletries and towels were provded.
The air conditioning/heating needs some tweeking as it was blowing air all night. so if you adjust to the required level then it is not so much of a problem. TV was dated as was the furniture but we only stayed for 1 nigh and so it didnt really bother us. We even had a spare bedcome sofa with a pull out bed underneath. The hotel is in need of modernising.

The food at the Altia was more than anyone could eat in the evening we stayed there. They had the vegetarian option and served it without a hitch. There was even a complimentary glass of wine which everyone enjoyed. We all discussed the contrasting levels of food served between the 2 hotels we stayed in on this tour at this evening meal. The other one was in Den Haag called NH Atlantic. At the hotel (Altia) where the decor was not so good the staff were at least pleasant and attentive and overflowing with food. The bar was adequately stocked and guests could go and relax outside on a nice day. There was also an outdoor swimming pool, small but still available to guests if they wanted to go and use this facility.

the hotel staff overall could not do enough to help and were quick to serve food and clear away. breakfast was a stright forward continental breakfast. Nothing spectacular but enough to eat. Free wifi (or wiffee as they called it) was available everywhere although quite weak signal in the rooms.

Overall not a bad hotel conveininet for travel to Lille & Ypres and War Cemetries by car/coach.

When you enter a hotel reception area and the focal point is a pool table in the center it does help describe the hotel. Not that I saw anyone playing on it..The average age of visitors on the day I arrived must have been over 75 - not saying they don't play pool, just didn't see them use the table. Apologies, there was one old dear leaning on the table but I think she was just very sick from travelling, Further comments - the room was "tired", in it an old couch with what looked like an old curtain covering it. I checked the sheets very carefully but they were clean., Whole hotel seemed "tired/shabby". Should also be a minimum standard when hotels claim to have fitness centers. Also carpets in rooms should be changed every 10 years or so.
Good points - free internet albeit very slow. Free parking. Free coffee in the room. Hairdryer.
Best point - the grass fields outside the windows have numerous rabbits all with new families at this time of the year.

We stayed her as part of a Shearings coach tour on a return journey from Holland. The evening meal was good, and included a glass of wine. The staff were all friendly and attentive, and quickly served a coach-load of people. The room we had was on the 1st floor, and although it was comfortable it was a little shabby and clearly in need of some redecoration, as some of the paint was chipped from the walls, and there was a few stains on the carpet. Service in the bar was slow, even though there was less than 6 people in there, the staff was engaged in also serving in the restaurant as well as the bar, and getting a drink was rather slow, although some people did go into the restaurant and ask the staff to be served ! Breakfast was a set meal, with one bread roll and one croissant on each plate, and some cheese and ham to take from a separate table, together with jam and cereals, not much, but just about adequate. It's OK for a one-night stopover, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything else.

We stayed one night as part of a coach package in December.
We booked a triple bed room but was given 1 Queen and 2 single, good sized fold/single beds on the first floor.
Very helpful, efficient and friendly staff. Our location seems quiet.
Very fresh items for their continental breakfast - delicious croissants, jams and sliced breads. We have sliced ham, cheese, cereals, orange juice, tea, coffee. My fellow travellers commented that the restaurant prices were fair too and good value.
Clean room and items with all the basic essentials.
Only small moan is their one tiny lift.

Room Tip: It's about 11 miles from Lille, hence you will probably need a car.

Stayed here for one night on our way to Germany as part of a Coach tour. The hotel used to be a Novotel but isn't now. The Reception was clean and tidy and friendly staff. The room was a little shabby but clean and tidy although the bathroom sinks plug didn't work and was a pain to remove and the brackets for the shower head needed replacing. We had Dinner provided as a set meal. Every aspect of the meal was bought in and was far from a balanced meal, there being little in the way of Vegitation. Looking around at the other Diners it seemed everything came with French Fries. I'd think twice before eating here again. The Breakfast was served in a separate room so can't comment on what the Hotel more generally served, but we got a typical French continental breakfast but no eggs or anything hot, including the Coffee. My overall verdict is its on the lowerside of Average.

Room Tip: Try rooms on the right of the hgotel as you stand looking at the front door, they are away from the...

This is the second time we have stayed in the hotel, the first was when it was undergoing building works. To be honest the Altia is a bit of mixed bag with some good and bad points. It is clean, the rooms are above average and the staff helpful. They also have some good facilities, with an outdoor pool and terrace, free internet use in the lobby, a pool table and an arcade game. These facilities are very much needed as the location is not great, right on an industrial style estate at the end of a motorway junction. If you are mobile and are using this as a base then that is not so bad, but you can't go out for a walk to the shops or go to a local restaurant.

In the way of food the hotel has its own restaurant which offers decent if not spectacular meals. The choice on the menu is limited and the service variable. Just pray you don't have have a coach party being served ahead of you. There is also a bar which is a bit of a lottery. Service is not quick as a member of staff not easily found as they are often doing drink runs to the restaurant.
