“Unspoilt paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2012 via mobile

We got back last week from 2 weeks in SCG. There was a group of 26 of us staying at the hotel as we went to get married there. We all had a fabulous time and would Definetly recommend it.
If you are thinking of getting married here this is a fab choice. The gazebo is on the beach overlooking beautiful crystal clear sea. The wedding co ordinator Yudi met us the day after arrival she was so helpful and went through everything clearly. We had the free wedding package which included the bouquet (which was beautiful) buttonhole cava, a massive cake, fees etc there were also extras which we could add. She dealt with everything so efficiently - we had a wonderful day which we will never forget. Thank u Yudi !!
The holiday was amazing- the setting of this hotel is first class. The buffet restaurant had a lot of choice and also stations where fish meat and pasta were cooked to your choice - truly delicious. The staff at this hotel were all fantastic - very friendly and not pushy for tips. The Manager Manuel was just so lovely. He arranged meetings with my whole party so that he could get feedback and ensure we were enjoying our stay. Any suggestions we made were put in place almost immediately, we asked to change from a first floor room to ground floor as it was better with the kids. Within a few hours we had a beach front room opposite the wedding gazebo which was perfect. I cannot speak highly enough about this Manager he is a credit to the hotel - he would often be around the hotel greeting everybody. By the sounds of it many improvements have been made and continuing to be made since he started in October.
We arranged a few trips through TC - would recommend the speedboating, katamaran and now that's what I call Cuba - great days out.
We loved it there and are thinking about booking again for next year! Thank u to everybody at the hotel for making our wedding/honeymoon so wonderful. Claudia Room 803

We have been visiting SCG between dates 26th Jan 2012 and 9th Feb 2012. and we fell in love with this resost!

Arrival:

First of all, we did not have to wait in a long queue at the reception to check in - Everything was ready for us when we landed - yes! when we entered the coach at the Airport we have been given the envelopes which had all the relevant information about the resort, maps, a welcome letter and a key to our room !!! AMAZING!

When we arrived we've been welcomed with a biggest smile and a drink on a doorstep. All of the staff were working extremely hard to make us feel welcome and looked after. Any queries, questions or requests were addressed within minutes.

Food:

We could not complain either, almost every day we were eating something delicious and different. The food rotation was good, the specialities of the evening were fantastic and within 14 days that we have been there was not even a one occasion where a tray was empty at the buffet for more than 3-4 minutes and that’s a big place!

All the salads and fruits were really fresh and tasty.

Drinks:

With regards to the drinks i have to say that ALL of them are surprisingly good! even a beer - I am finding a beer in Cuba to be a lot weaker but not in this resort ! the beer tastes like Stella!! really good!

Evening entertainment amazing and very interactive! you just have to see it with your own eyes!

Rooms:

very clean (they were cleaned daily) and had a really nice bathrooms !

General:

As we travelled as a large group it just happened that on Two occasions we left some items on the beach (please note that beaches in Cuba are NOT part of the resort) the next morning we were absolutely sure that all is lost as we could not find it on the beach anymore. To our pleasant surprise on both occasions our items were found by the hotel staff who collected it from the beach in the evening to make sure nothing is lost !! this is over and above a good customer service!!!.

This resort is an adorable place we are just about to book another holiday there!!!

We really recommend this place - it’s just great!

All the best and see you there!

We had a wonderful holiday in this hotel in January 2012. We enjoyed it so much we have booked for December 2012. The staff couldnt do enough for us. They are extremely freindly in the restaurants, bars and even the gardener will always have a smile and 'hola'! The food was good but sometimes the meat was a little overcooked. But its better than being undercooked and getting food poisoning. You can choose your fish, pieces of meat, and they will cook it in front of you to your liking. The ice cream was the best i have personally ever tasted and the flambe bananas must be tried (although a little on the sweet side). We constantly saw hotel workers cleaning the pool area and restaurant floors. Just before we left i noticed a cleaner actually scrubbing the floor of the entertainment areas with a broom. When we first arrived we were given a chalet that really stunk of tobacco. We are non-smokers and immediately asked for a change of room. We went off to have our dinner and by the time we arrived back we had a phone call to say they had found us another room, which was much better. The room was approx. 25-30 meters from the beach, Heaven! If you just want to chill out, eat, drink and relax then this is the place. We are a middle aged couple and it suited us. If you are younger you may be better trying the nearby Melia hotels which is more lively and noisy. The Sol Cayo Guillermo is on a little islet just off of Cuba so there is not much to do unless you do a tour. We did the 'Now thats what i call Cuba'. This covered everything we were interested in and that was the only trip we needed to do.

Room Tip: If you dont like the room they give you then just ask for another. They are very obliging.

I have been visiting Cuba for several years now, primarily to Veradero and Havana. This year I decided to visit Cayo Guillermo - it was the ideal destination.

I stayed at Sol Cayo Guillermo in late February and I would recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a tranquil get away. This hotel is located right by the beach and offers the most stunning ocean vista that ranges in every possible shade from light green to turquoise. The water is so clear and the sun bleached white sand is so fine.

Sol Cayo Guillermo resort offered a relaxed & comfortable environment. This was primarily due to the hospitable staff. The front desk staff were very helpful. The dining/bar staff were always very attentive. The rooms and the grounds were very clean and well maintained thanks to the grounds keepers & maids.

Here is a quick top line check list of things that were fantastic:
- Beds were very comfortable
- Air conditioners were modern and functioned well
- Television did offer Western programs but more importantly the news (so that I could tune in for quick current updates from back home)
- 2 tennis courts (bring your own racquets & balls)
- Massages were super affordable
- The meal at the a la carte restaurant was delicious & the daily meals at the buffet offered a variety of very good food!
- Convenience of on site bank/local artists selling their goods

My recommendations to fellow tourists:
- If you feel like venturing out, do take advantage of the tour packages to see things beyond the hotel
- A must see is Playa Pilar which is so stunning (I had my first glimpse and touch of a star fish there!) . You can take the red double decker bus that comes to the front of the hotel at designated times or ask front desk to call a cab. Do try to get to Pilar by 8 am if you want to rent a beach chair and have it placed under a sun shelter.
There is a juice bar right on the beach - amazing..
Try the Pargo (snapper) at the restaurant.

A gentle reminder to my fellow tourists - please be mindful of littering. Cigarette butts in the sand - not cool.

I'll be returning to the Sol Cayo Guillermo resort for more tranquility!

Room Tip: The 500 area is quiet
