“Best welcome on the island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

Each time we've stayed here it gets better. (Confession: we had a beach wedding here in 2010). The best rooms, with a view of the tropical gardens or sea, are the upstairs ones in Caribbean style blocks of four suites. Each has a large living area with lanai, an air conditioned bedroom, full bathroom and a small kitchen nook for morning beverages, cocktails and snacks. The restaurant has such outstanding food, breakfast, lunch and dinner that sometimes we've not even left the property. Chef Brian cooks up an international menu of substantial quality. Many of the staff have been here for years and welcome us back, under the inspired leadership of Manager Randall Wilkie. To top it all they send a car to the airport and there's a cocktail waiting at check-in. Perfect.

We advise all visitors to this wonderful hotel to take up the offer of two rum punches as soon as you step out of the car from the airport, arranged by the hotel in advance (the car that is!), a truly great start to our holiday. This epitomised the service that we received throughout our fabulous week at Cobblers Cove. Our room (28) was upstairs and overlooked the beautiful tropical gardens, which was also a haven for the colourful local bird population. Infact the room was actually a suite, comprising an air conditioned bedroom, a well appointed bathroom and a large sitting room with a balcony and kitchen area, we could have had a party for at least a dozen guests! The service in the restaurant and around the bar/pool area was excellent with frequent offers of iced cold water, cool face cloths, fresh fruit and sorbet.

We looked forward to our Breakfast every morning, delicious dinners and we appreciated the excellent Sunday Lobster lunch. If you feel like a stroll along the beach in both directions, you will find some fun local bars and restaurants.

There is a reef just off the main hotel beach, which provides excellent snorkelling when the seas are calm. Also on offer are complimentary boat trips and waterskiing, if you are aquatically inclined.

We would advise first time visitors to the island to hire a car for at least a day to explore the north of the island and the east coast in particular.

When you leave Cobblers Cover you will be left with the abiding impression of hospitality from unfailingly friendly and professional staff, who will wet your appetite for a return visit.

This is a great property ideal for a family with young children or in our case grandchild! The food on the property is excellent so we rarely had to go out. The service was perfect and all the staff and management were very friendly and efficient. I have been to Barbados many times but Cobblers is the place for me!

Room Tip: Sea view ! I like the ground floor!

I returned from Cobblers Cove in February after a lovely stay that was most memorable for it's wonderful food, delightful staff and beautiful beaches and views. I have been to many island resorts and I have to say the food at Cobblers Cove was by far the best I've had in the region. Elegant cuisine with an ever changing menu that reflected regional specialties, as well as European and Asian influences. The staff was absolutely lovely and helpful and friendly, my friend and I felt very welcomed. The atmosphere of the hotel is charming and quaint. The beach is gorgeous. Another highlight of our stay was swimming with sea turtles! It was recommended we try it and we were so happy we did. It's a short boat ride from the hotel and a wonderful experience. In addition to the great hotel experience I was totally blown away by the island of Barbados as it was my first trip. There is so much history and culture and great food and the island is build up just enough...there is a feeling of modernization without commercialization. I can't recommend the experience enough and I for sure plan on returning.

I returned last week from the perfect holiday at Cobblers Cove on Barbados and am still relishing every moment – in my room overlooking a magical garden (with monkeys swinging from the trees). The comfort and service were impeccable. The Bar area always held lots of ice and iced water, the sitting room had good books and the loungers on the balcony blissful. But there was not much time to read. The beach and hotel pool were irresistible after an amazing breakfast, delicious dinners were served by the smiling staff. It was like staying in a very well-run country house, which I long to return to again. Can I give it six stars>

Although not a spring chicken myself (50 yrs ) the majority of the guests were octogenarians who were set in there ways and seem to return year after year. This was reflected in the evening when after 10.30 everyone was in bed .
The sunbeds were reserved early in the morning which meant you had to get up at 7am in order to get one .
Having said that the property , gardens and beach were lovely. The rooms were OK but for the price I found the resort very expensive
Good restaurant and friendly staff >

My husband and I have just returned from what was meant to be the holiday of a lifetime, our first time in Barbados and over £12,000 for 10 days we were expecting something special.
The first thing we noticed immediately was nearly all the guests were at least 80+ complete with wheelchairs, Zimmer frames and walking sticks! We were the youngest by a long way.
We had Room 1 which was billed as being a deluxe ocean view room on the ground floor. This was very dated and in need of modernisation. Yes we had an ocean view but by 7am our view was obscured by sun loungers on the decking immediately snapped up by the aged guests giving no privacy to our room during daylight hours.
The air con consisted of a large ugly unit on the bedroom wall which fed the bedroom only, there was no air con to the bathroom or dressing area making getting ready to go out in the evening very uncomfortable. The ceiling fan to the living area was sufficient.
We did however find all the staff to be exceptionally friendly, the concierge was limited and did not give the impression that they were being used to arrange transport / restaurant reservation for guests on a regular basis.
The restaurant was exceptional with a daily changing menu and superb staff, the food was some of the best we experienced during our whole stay.
The beach was very narrow and not wide enough for sunbeds, the hotel was advertised as having beds on the beach along with a drink/snack service..... This was not the case nor around the pool.
Whilst away I was celebrating a milestone birthday which the hotel were made aware of, this was not acknowledged in any way..... A complete contrast to my husbands birthday in the Maldives in which we were both made to feel like royalty.
The management were aware of our dissatisfaction and offered us the opportunity to look at another room, we pointed out this would not get away from the fact that we were staying in an old people's home..... The manager advised us their clientele is generally the older generations who return year after year..... This explained one guests naming of 'hobblers cove'
We did want to find alternative accommodation but we were advised their 7 night cancellation policy would apply which was clearly unacceptable.
A very disappointing stay!

Alistair F, General Manager at Cobblers Cove, responded to this review, March 6, 2013
We would like to thank the reviewer very much for the kind comments relating to the food and the service aspects of their stay with us. We want to put the record straight on the sun bed and beach issues raised. We do not lay out sun beds on our beach. Our staff are always on hand to place sun beds wherever on the beach the guests would like to be. We have a lovely beach to the north side of the hotel adjacent to our sun deck where many guests like to spend lazy days being pampered by our beach and poolside staff. When the sea is very rough there are days when the space can be limited and the beach is quite narrow, but for the most part there is plenty of space, and guests can even snorkel directly off the beach. we do have adequate sun beds for all our guests. We are sorry we missed your birthday and if you would like to come back for dinner next year we will be happy to offer you a bottle of champagne to celebrate next time. Thanks again for your feedback and hope to see you again. Best wishes from all of us at Cobblers Cove, Alistair, General Manager.
