“Wonderful as ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

Just back from Cobblers Cove where once again, we enjoyed the fantastic personal touches of all staff. The food was marvellous. With waters like that the new chef supplied us with copious choices every day. Can breakfast be any better than flying fish and plantain?
The highlight was being zipped off in their speedboat to a empty beach where on arrival we discovered a band playing beneath the mango's and a BBQ being prepared. A full beach party picnic with toes in the sand. I shall never forget it. Heaven.

I went to Cobblers with my wife and two children aged 12 and 10 for half term. We had a really fantastic time: food was delicious, the staff were really friendly, service was great, and both children waterskied every day for free. It is in a beautiful position and we came home feeling as though we had been away for a fortnight instead of a week. I cannot recommend it more highly.

Room Tip: Rooms with a sea view are great but less private during the day than rooms in the garden.

I just returned from Cobblers Cove, Barbados and it was truly a special experience. The staff was attentive and warm, the accommodations were lovely, and the cuisine at The Terrace was outstanding. The relaxing, elegant ambiance made this a destination I would highly recommend.

We recently held our wedding at Cobblers and all we can say is AWSOME the hotel and all staff made the experience out of this world it surpassed our expectations on EVERY level.
The food was mind blowing and Michael the chef is a master in the kitchen.
Cobblers is a truly magical place that leaves you feeling totally relaxed and wishing you did not have to leave.
5 stars is not enough.

My husband and I arrived here on Tues 30th Oct for a 2 week stay in an Oceanfront suite. Holiday arranged through Azure holidays and flight privately. Room was good and as described right on the front adjacent to sea and small beach; food and service also very good.
However on our 4th evening Fri 2nd Nov after dinner in the hotel dining room we walked just after 9pm to our room about 2mins from the dining room across a path, My husband put the key in the lock to open the room. I was immediately behind him and at that moment I was mugged from behind and my bag stolen from under my arm. The assailant ran off to the beach. No security was on hand to help. Fortunately I was not physically hurt but badly shaken. Management came and eventually security staff. Police also came to take a statement.
We have travelled the world and at past retirement age have never had this sort of thing happen. This is a very expensive hotel which prides itself in being the only Relais Chateaux member in Barbados. i was told this type of incident had NEVER happened in all the years of operation here. It happened to me, it should never have happened in hotel grounds let alone at the entrance to our room. Security here is to say the least abysmal but of course NOW I am accompanied everywhere - bit late. We can no longer stay in Barbados and would have left immediately but the hotel could only obtain a flight tomorrow Tues. 5th Nov.
We get the distinct impression, the hotel is hushing this incident up ASAP and the staff have been instructed not to discuss.
First and last time in Barbados but if you like to come to this island I suggest you check hotel security arrangements and if you value your safety perhaps even your life, do not stay at Cobblers Cove.

Alistair F, General Manager at Cobblers Cove, responded to this review, November 10, 2012
We wish to reiterate how truly sorry we are for this unfortunate experience. Petty theft and bag snatching are rare occurrences in Barbados as the island enjoys a very low rate of crime. Cobblers Cove has for decades enjoyed a reputation as a luxury destination offering relaxing, comfortable and safe holidays for discerning travelers.
We felt we handled the incident quietly quickly and professionally as would be expected of a 5 star hotel. We hold the safety and security of guests and staff as top priority and our security staff have always been extremely vigilant in their duties. Despite the perpetrators quick escape our security did pursue the individual down the beach. The police are currently carrying out a thorough investigation.
It was mentioned in the post that staff were instructed to “hush” the matter. This was definitely not the case as each and every member of our team was made aware of what had occurred as well as letters being sent out briefing other guests staying at the time. We also advised the Barbados Tourism Authority, the Barbados Hotels and Tourist Association, The British High Commission, as well as working with our travel partners to resolve the situation as quickly and effectively as we could for the benefit of these guests.
We were also very understanding of how shaken the guests must have been and their desire to get back home to Scotland quickly. This was why we purchased two first class single air tickets back to Scotland for them at our expense on the first available flight which was actually Monday 5th November, as well as undertaking to refund the entire holiday cost.
We asked them if they would like to change rooms or even to change hotels (at our expense) but they chose to remain in the same suite until departure.
It is unfortunate that the guests holiday experience was tainted by this incident. We have thoroughly reviewed procedures and made every effort to ensure this sort of incident is very unlikely to occur on the hotel premises in the future.

Cobblers Cove is boutique 5 star hotel on the West Coast of Barbados. We stayed here for 2 weeks and found everything about the hotel first class. We had a large beach front room, with excellent views of the sea and beach from our lounge/balcony.

If you are a beach lover you might be a little disappointed as the immediate beach area is fairly limited, but a short walk solves that problem. My wife and I prefer the pool areas and these are great at CC - good amount of space & quiet with excellent staff on hand to bring you food and drink :-)

The room was spacious, with great traditional English furnishings. Large kitchen area and bathroom/shower.

The restuarant serves a good breakfast and lunch through the day, fine dining at night. Nice restuarant, even with the strong competition across the island, many people visit the hotel at night to eat here, which has to be a good thing.

CC has a gym across the road which is fairly small but covers all the major needs - running machine, rower, cycling machine and some weights. Air con not great in there.

The spa is excellent with a good range of treatments also.

Hotel has a number of repeat guests, which says it all! Guests were very approachable and friendly, which makes for a nice break also.

My family spent another week in this excellent hotel over October half term.

The hotel is a wonderful place with very old fashioned service and charm. The staff are attentive - many of them have worked for the hotel for years and some for decades.

The service is exceptional. We were greeted on arrival with cold towels and drinks. We relaxed immediately and stayed relaxed for the whole week. It is very easy to do nothing here, but for the more active there was golf, water skiing, tennis and yoga to keep us busy.

We had a grand picnic on a nearby idyllic beach with a steel band. The restaurant has very good food. The atmosphere is one of an English country house with delicious and irresistible afternoon tea at 4pm every day. Most of the guests had, like us, been before.

If you are looking for a charming intimate hotel with great service and an excellent location, Cobblers Cove is for you.
