“Perfect pink paradise!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013 via mobile

Southern palms to my family and I is the most beautiful place on earth! We got married there in 2000 and we are lucky enough to return each Christmas ever since! Even our daughter was christened by the reverend who conducted our Marriage! Southern Palms is beautiful, the grounds, gorgeous beach, great food and the most amazing staff you could meet! We cannot wait to return again this year....

A fantastic beach. Average rooms. Lots of good and excellent restaurant’s within walking distance of the hotel. Excellent location. Not to many junk sellers. Nice open beach bar. Staff are good. Rooms are average. A mean volleyball game at 3pm roughly... Tea service every day or second day? Good cab service from the hotel. Set fee to places, so ask when you get in the cab or before the trip.

Room Tip: groung floor are the best rooms, unless you want ocean view

This hotel is in an ideal place for bars and restaurants. The Bajan people are extremely friendly , the tea and cake everyday was great
This hotel does require updating and some investment , but on saying that it did not detract from our holiday. It is on one of the most beautiful beaches , the facilities are great .
The hotel itself offers really good food and drink , what more could you ask for

Although we were disappointed that we didn't get the type of rooms we had expected (our fault for misinterpreting the brochure), we were given an upgrade of one of the rooms to ensure we could provide for the toddler and baby. Even when the air conditioner failed, the room was quickly changed to ensure we were happy. The mosquitoes are a big problem, but if you mention this the staff will provide you with all the protection you need.
The staff were mostly kind and very understanding. My daughter was upgraded to a room with kitchenette for the children and each day my daughter would leave the room with the toddler and newborn with the intention of clearing up only to find all the washing up taken care of by the maids. When it rained, the cleaning staff even volunteered an umbrella to escort them to reception.
Me, my husband, sisters and my mom (along with my daughter and grand children) had a wonderful 2 weeks at Southern Palms Beach Club . I have noticed other reviews about security, but we felt very safe. Where else in the world do you have people carrying machetes for cutting coconuts and feel safe around them.
Thank you Barbados for restoring our faith in the common man.
Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Joyce and Paul

Our eighth visit to this wonderful island and sixth stay at the Southern Palms. Having traveled all over the island we have not seen anything that ticks all the boxes as Southern Palms does. Fantastic staff and facilities, good food, very relaxing atmosphere and wonderful location on Dover beach. Home from home as soon as you walk through reception and take in the magnificent view that greets you. In the words of "The Terminator" i'll be back.

Room Tip: As in most hotels rooms vary in price due to location. I'ts well worth paying a little bit more...

We stayed here for three weeks February to march 2013.The hotel is in good location, right on a lovely beach. The public area,s are very nice but our room was a bit of a let down. The hotel has a very friendly atmosphere and is popular with Americans and Canadians. We only at breakfast and the occasional snack here but what we had was adequate if a bit over priced. The entertainment we saw consisted of a steel band a couple of nights and singers a couple of nights.Tea ,coffee and cakes are served at 4p.m at the side of the second pool. The hotel is in an ideal location for getting out and about as the local bus stops just at the bottom of the road,a ten minute bus ride to Bridgetown and then you can get a bus to almost anywhere on the island.Dont miss the fish fry at Oistins,a good way to spend a Friday night.Over all the hotel was good,we saw the things we wanted to see and the hotel was a very relaxing break.

Room Tip: a sea view room is always nice but the waves here can be quite noisy, not so good if you are a light...

Visited the Southern Palms with my wife for 10nights. What we came to realize was that some of the staff morale was low, you can see that some of the staff doesn't get along with each other, it's very apparent. SECURITY was very lacking, especially at night, you would pass and see a security guard either SLEEPING or playing with their Cell-phones and other electronic gadgets. I was asking a guard lady a question and didn't get a response from her, and I said to my wife, she seems upset as she is not answering me, I again spoke to her and she still never resonded, I then tapped her on the shoulder and she jumped and took her head-phones out of her ears and told me, smiling, that she didn't hear me behind her, she was listening to her music. My wife and I just smiled and moved on. We saw her the next night, down at the far end of the property again, that's where our room was, and she was doing the same thing again, but she waved at us and said she is viewing a movie. The hotel is dated yes, but some of the staff are very friendly, they go out of their way to make you comfortable. I belive that for a hotel that is as diverse as Southern Palms, they need more vigilant security officers.

However, we enjoyed our 10 nights there and we will be back. Hopefully staff morale changes and security is better. because you can't feel safe if you have the people that are suppose to protect you not the best.
