“best restaurant of the entire trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

You are surprised every night. The most fantastic local food. The chefs are friendly and they taught me how to make the best risotto. I could have eaten there every for a month.

“You must eat here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

This is what Italians do best. After eating at some delicious, and expensive, places in Venice we headed to the Valdobbiadene region- home to Prosecco! From a recommendation we headed to the town of Rolle on a Sunday night and to 'al Monastero'. Sunday night is a set menu. You get warm, freshly baked bread, choice of a bottle of red or white wine, water and then......the platter. A wooden board centered with soft polenta and soft, warm, melted cheese. Around this is potato salad, roast pork, crumbed chicken, boiled egg, fried zucchini in tempura batter, mushrooms, sausage and a generous slice of cantaloupe. Then a sweet plate of biscotti and meringue. Espresso to finish and the busy waitress brings you a bottle of local Grappa if you want to spice it up a little. It's like eating at your favourite aunt's house, where you roll out of the door full. And all this for only 15 Euro!!! Enjoy!

“dining in italy as it used to be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

we ate here yesterday and i recommend this locanda if you are travelling on the conegliano valdobbiano wine road in veneto and want to eat as travellers used to, genuine seasonal dishes, unpretentious service in a calm and casual atmosphere.
The very tiny village of Rolle is on top of a hill nestled among the Prosecco vineyards. The towns in the vicinity are Pieve di Soligo and Follina. When you arrive at the church drive a little further then turn left into a courtyard with shaded car parking.
The restaurant is open every evening except monday.. Lunch saturday and sunday.
