Of all the disappointing food we have eaten in so called fine dining restaurants on our travels and back home only to be presented with a whopping bill, what a pleasant surprise to come to a place with no expectations and be swept off our feet by some of the best food we've eaten at a restaurant and get a bill 1/5 of what we would normally pay. In fact we wouldn't be able to get that kind of a meal back home. We loved the canopy of flora overhead, Cuban music and atmosphere. Then came the food. Starting with soft garlic bread sticks then a fresh plate of avocados, tomatoes, cucumber, cabbage and a hearty soup full of flavour, then one course after another. Charbroiled butterflied chicken thighs, pork ribs, lobster stew, creole style shrimp, Cuban style rice and beans, white rice, yucca root with onions and garlic (our favourite), caramelized mini bananas, fried banana chips...im sure I'm forgetting something. And for desert I had a nice lite flan and she had orange ice cream. This was not a 'one off' because we returned the following night with a couple we befriended and the food was just as wonderful. This is food with flavour not fine dining fluff.
