“Beautifully Relaxing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

My husband and I recently spent a week at Soco and absolutely loved it!!! We were looking for a nice, relaxing beach vacation and it was perfect. The hotel and beach were both very clean and well maintained. The view from our balcony was gorgeous...something you would see on a postcard! The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Dexter and Michelle were always available to answer questions and make sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely visit again!

The food was very good! Loved the fish tacos and the fact that there was always a "catch of the day" to select for dinner. I would suggest changing up the dessert options. I have a wicked sweet tooth, but am lactose intolerant and often times, there was not a dessert option for me. The only other suggestions I would make is that they have bottled water available to guests and that they serve breakfast past 10AM for those of us who like to sleep in.

Definitely visit Oistin's Fish Fry for a delicious meal. My husband and I went around 5:30PM one evening to watch the sunset from the pier and it was beautiful. Then we grabbed dinner at Chillin & Grillin....huge portions and so yummy!

Just a suggestion with regards to travel plans....if you have an early flight home, tell your taxi driver earlier. We scheduled a driver to pick us up at 5AM and he was about 15 minutes late picking us up. There was no hotel staff around that early in the day so I had to call the taxi company to remind them.

Room Tip: All rooms have an ocean view. We were in room 206 which we liked because it was not directly over t...

Dear FDale,

Thanks for choosing The Soco Hotel to enjoy your holiday and thanks for this kind review. We are delighted that you enjoyed the views, food and the service our staff provided. I agree that Oistins fish fry provides a unique experience for our guests and it is highly recommend as one of the things to do while in Barbados.

Let me apologise for your experience regarding the taxi pickup, this was certainly an exception. We do have a nightly security on duty that would be able to assist guests with such request.

We are looking forward to welcoming you once again at The Soco Hotel in the near future.

Warm Regards,
Dexter Cummings

Stayed for a week in May. Overall a great place to stay, good location.
The staff are excellent and are a credit to the Hotel Manager
We were in room 308 which suited us, great view, few steps to climb but well worth it. To be honest would not have liked rooms on the lower level.

Food, overall very well presented, but lacked variety . Eat out a couple of times.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the 3rd or 4th level

Just back from a nine day stay at soco. Hotel is modern, clean and very welcoming. We had room 201 and loved it. Bright ,airey with an enormous bed!! The staff at Soco are really a credit to this hotel. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are eager to please. Michelle( I`'ve got it covered!!) Was a delight. She knows a lot about Barbados and is eager to share it all with guests. Met lots of lovely guests and had a fab time. I watched turtles in the sea bobbing around and even saw one on the beach digging her nest for her eggs!! Pool is small but lovely for a dip after the hot sunshine. Beach is only a few paces away. Soft sand and because of the lagoon effect water calm and safe. Sunbeds on the beach and around the pool with sunshade. Now for a couple of negatives!! We had an issue with beach towels but I am sure the hotel have noted this and in future I don't think it will be a problem. Food was always well presented and tasted fab. My issue was the same menu 3 days in a row became very boring and if you didn't like what was on there you were pretty stuck. They had 3 items that you could pay a supplement for, but in my opinion they were overpriced. Overall a lovely place with good transport to get you around. Thanks to Dexter and the team.

Room Tip: Any seem to be similar.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this hotel, is amazing the location, the food, everything about it. But the staff make this hotel what it is ( your owner should be very proud of each and everyone of you ) like Lynne said in her review, you couldn't single out anyone in particular you are all fantastic. The hotel only has 24 rooms so you do get to make friends. We met some lovely people ,Tracy,Zoe,Lynne,Julieanne and Dawn,Nicky and Darren,Hayley and Dom so nice to meet you all,Peter and Debbie so nice to meet you all.
Dexter ,Nige can't thank you enough for being so concerned when the silly bugger cracked his ribs , certainly a holiday to remember.
Love you all , can't wait to return

If you are looking for a small boutique hotel with amazingly friendly staff who remember your names and provide excellent service - then this is the place for you! Its just a few steps down from the pool area onto the fabulous golden beach and the Boardwalk.
Many of the staff remembered we had previously stayed last year - which makes this place so great and you get to feel right at home straightaway. The atmosphere allows and almost encourages you to mingle with the other guests (though you don't have to...). And its the only hotel where I remember nearly (sorry) the names of all the staff we met and everyone says hallo when you pass.

The rooms are spacious, have tea/coffee facilities, fridge and an ipod docking station - and all bar two of them have balconies overlooking the sea.

The food is a la carte - and the lunch and dinner menus change every 3 days so you should have a good variety of dishes during your stay. Andrew and his kitchen team were very amenable to us asking to vary the main courses e.g. replace fries with a salad. The staff in the waiting team were very patient (Neil, Benita, Tina, Victoria and others) with our odd requests and made the dining experience great fun. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and my husband John even got a birthday candle in his dessert!

If you don't know what you fancy to drink at the bar, then just tell the lovely ladies (Michelle, Erleen or Shannah) and they will concoct something to suit your tastebuds.

The pool is kept clean and is great for cooling off though too bijou for a serious swim.

There's not much that the hotel can improve on in my opinion. For me personally an offering of rosé house wine would be the icing on the cake. And in view of the lovely food, maybe some gentle exercise classes/aqua aerobics in the mornings (at a supplement) would go down well - Dexter see what you can do!

There is a man made lagoon which is really safe to swim and snorkel in and there are plenty of varieties of fish to see.

I would highly recommend this hotel. Its on a great bus route (for both the Reggae Buses and the Yellow/Blue buses) and we've had no problem catching the buses to Oistins, Bridgetown and to Holetown; it is at one end of the charming Boardwalk, the other ending or Accra Beach; there are numerous bars and eateries if you fancy a change; and we would return to Barbados and this hotel simply for the fantastic people.

Room Tip: There is no lift in the hotel so if you think this might be an issue, ask for a lower floor.

The location of this Hotel is absolutely fabulous, a few steps down onto white soft sand ,Palm trees and the ocean. The rooms are very comfortable ,light and cleaned well each day by very cheerful staff. All rooms have a wonderful full sea view. ALL the staff were very friendly and helpful, names too numerous to mention, but they all remembered our names!
The food was very good indeed and enjoyed sitting outside to eat without smokers around as there is only one area the far side of the bar that smoking is aloud!
Already making plans to return in 2015, as for us it was Paradise!
Thank you all at the SOCO for your effort to please.
We will return! SUSAN and JOHN.

Room Tip: Not essential to upgrade. All rooms good.

Just returned from an 8 day stay at the Soco. I'd prefer to be back there than prepping for work tomorrow... but here we go. Greeted by Melanie and a powerful Rum punch, there was no turning back. Mr. Brown... always around doing something and keeping things right was next. Our room was the Penthouse (401), but listen there is no elevator so you may want to grab everything you need for a day at the pool because that... was no joke. View, spectacular. Pure sky, Ocean breeze, overlooking the pool and bar area. Simple Oceanfont perfection... and here lies the rub. Perhaps my only frowny face comes in that the roadside is damn loud. Directly across the street is the bus stop. Bus? No problem. Reggae Bus? Maybe. That bad boy is blowing the harmonies on "La Cucaracha" at 5:30 am on all days but Sunday so if you're a light sleeper. Bring some earplugs.

Besides that? (which really who came here to sleep). Michelle the bartender/excursion specialist, does an orientation that lets you know what do to and even will book everything for you so you don't have to even think about it. Anything you want to do, she can point you the way.

Dining. Freakin awesome.I was looking for a buffet as many all inclusives are but no 1st class dining is what you get. Chef Andrew Jean has a fabulous menu on deck that changes every 3 days so you won't be bored. Michael, Victoria, and Tina made meals more than fun and Neal completes the entire experience (and he is beautiful what else do you need?)

Orlando kept everyone safe and Dexter handled everything from questions to flyway beach umbrellas.

With only 24 rooms, the environment allowed you to get to know the other guests at the resort. It was almost like a community. I'm glad to be home but i'm anxious to return.

Room Tip: I'd think the rooms on the high side , 408, 308, 208 are quieter. I'd avoid 201, someone can...
