My friend and I stayed at the Amaryllis in Feb 2014 for 7 nights all inclusive.
We stayed in room 235 which overlooked the pool and gardens, with a slight side view of the sea.
The room was nice, clean and had everything we needed, including a kitchenette.
If I were to have to say about any faults, the only things were: the bathroom was a little tired and we had problems with the safe a few times but was always fixed immediately. Very trivial things which had no bearing on the hotel what so ever.
We loved the hotel.
The staff are friendly and always stopped for a chat whether we were walking about or sat on our huge balcony. We serenaded our room maid Cecilia each morning with that said song and her laugh was infectious.
The hotel is smaller than some which gives it a lovely homely feel. The buffet therefore isn't as large as some but always something really tasty to eat. I loved the catch of the day in the beachside snack bar, flying fish, sword fish, king fish. Delicious. Or the amaryllis club sandwhich.
Our fave cocktail was amaryllis passion.
Loved the cooked breakfast, proper baked beans and eggs cooked to order in any fashion you require and lots of coffee and tea.
The location of The Amaryllis is just perfect. Right on, not next to the beach. Plenty of loungers and clean towels each day but try and make one last, Eco.
We tended to take a right turn on beach and walked down just past the hilton and found a lovely little secluded cove next to the canons.
We did turn left a couple of times, which took us along the boardwalk, another lovely walk.
Entertainment wise: there was a managers cocktail party one night which we missed as it was only till 7pm. A Valentines meal on the Friday night but we missed that as we went to Oistins Fish fry, as it's the place where everyone goes on a Friday night. Some great stalls, really great food. Very busy.
Back at The Amaryllis. A Barbeque was laid on the Saturday night, with fish and chicken and Pecan pie. A steel drum, Bajan dancers and a limbo dancer entertained us, It was very good.
On Sunday night a male and female singer sang in the dining room but only till 9pm.
Basically all was quiet and all in their rooms by 11pm most nights. The bar shut at 11pm. But there are bars out and about which I'm sure are open till later and you can travel anywhere on the bus for only 2 barbados dollars and they run until late.
Personally, apart from our night out at Oistins, we were happy to go back to our room as all that sun, sea, walking on the sand, eating delicious food and supping cocktails takes it out of you.
For us, this was the perfect hotel, location. Not big and flash like some, not many fancy trimmings but it's a beautiful hotel, which blends in to the landscape with its tropical gardens and delicate hues.
To be honest, we don't want to ever go anywhere else, we want to live there.
My Daughter had visited the same hotel 2 years previously. She did warn us that it would ruin our lives, as we wouldn't want to leave to come home and would pine forever once back home but we didn't take her seriously. Turns out we had been very foolish and should have listened!
Everyone we spoke to at the hotel had nothing but praise for the hotel.
You will not be disappointed. If for any reason something isn't right, please make sure you make it known to reception, as they really want everything to be right for you and for you to enjoy your stay.
I like to see the staff treated well by the management and that would have an influence on whether I returned. I really felt like the staff were really happy in their work and the atmosphere felt relaxed and friendly for them, (unlike when I stayed in Tunisia).
Keep up the good work Amaryllis. You will be seeing us again.
