“pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

Stayed here while on a 3 week working visit; the staff and facilities were great. I wished there were more options for breakfast included in the continental breakfast and an option for espresso and cappuccino or latte coffee!

Room Tip: I stayed at level with access directly from parking lot, no stairs to climb, only stairs were to the...

I came to Barbados expecting beautiful scenery and luxury relaxing time. I was not disappointed. The hotel is in a good location. Its quite with a beautiful beach and loads of fish around. Take some bread into the water, they will all surround you. The hotel staff are nice and the rooms are comfy and large. The food was ok, not amazing but it was nothing to complain about. There is a great tapas restaurant east of the hotel along the coast. Pricey but good! Also if you head towards the hilton hotel along the coast (west) and go a little past it, there is a food stand where a lady sells fish burgers from. I promise it is the best thing to eat on the island. (And its cheap) Got that secret from a local. We went there for lunch about ten times! Nowhere to sit, just a take away and you can go eat on the beach that she is next to. There a a few tours to do. One is in a cave, highly recommend that one and another is at a botanical garden which is beautiful. Good entertainment around the island and hotel as well. Taxis are a rip off! Always trying to con you, so get the local reggae bus which runs all day n night. Dirt cheap and fun. You normally get squashed into it with many others, when u think theres no room, they make room. Overall, we loved Barbados. Also go find the reggae grill. He does good Jamaican food. (Not far from hotel)

.......Where do I start? This is a fabulous friendly, really pleasant place to stay, where the majority of guests return again & again, year after year. Almost everyone we spoke to in the restaurant or on the beach were on a return visit! The staff and service and hospitality were beyond reproach. All the staff were SO friendly & helpful, from the security guards, cleaners, restaurant, bar staff, right up to managerial level. The beach was amazing with a palm tree & sunbed for everyone! The only two things I would like future holidaymakers to be slightly wary of, is that as in a lot of the Caribbean beaches, there is a slight dip after you walk into the sea after a few steps & if I were you I would wear beach shoes in the sea as there are a few stones along the way. The second thing is the first step into the pool is quite high. It probably isn't for people with walking difficulties like myself.
The beach is fabulous, & all the security guards make it SO safe, as they are constantly on duty.I also can't fault the excellent service from the beach bar to all the restaraunts, reception staff, bar staff. In fact absolutely everyone was wonderful. I too will be one of the many returning guests!
Thank you SO much Coconut court beach hotel for an amazing visit.

We have stayed at this hotel several times and are never disappointed. Great location with a friendly staff and a reasonable beachfront restaurant. Lots of dining options to choose from within walking distance. Hop on a van and you'll be in downtown Bridgetown in about 10 minutes. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Barbados.

Room Tip: Cheaper rooms don't have much of a view.

Well, the Coconut Court Beach Hotel is a good option. I just stayed there 2 weeks and I am not sorry for my choise of hotel.
From the street side the hotel doesn't look that good to be honest... It shows its years and also entering the reception makes you think it's an old place BUT the staff is really friendly and really make you feel welcome.
There are 3 types of rooms: beach view, full beach view and the renovated rooms.

The room I got was full beach view and was a good size with comfortable bed (but I think tall people will found it too small), table/chairs, great terras with chairs so you can enjoy the view at least when you are not located in the last building (viewing from street side: left one) because when you are standing you have a great view of the beach but when you are sitting down you can hardly see anything of that view because of the balustrade.
There is a microwave, a toaser (that didn't work; I got a replacement one which didn't work either), a water cooker and a huge fridge/freezer (too big for a hotel room I would think). There is however no sink, so you have to wash the dishes in the very little sink of the bathroom... Not ideal.
There is a big wardrobe with plenty of hangers and shelves and also the free safe is in the wardrobe which location is not ideal as you loose hanging space for long clothes / pants
Ideally there coulld be some draws in for example the nighttable to put small stuff.
The bathroom is small and could do with renovation and better layout.
I heart that the renovated rooms are - from what I heart - improved and all the comments I have regarding the kitchen and bathroom are solved.

You can choose to eat in the hotel too. Each day they have a buffet for around 25US$ which really is good value for money.

In the area of the hotel are several restaurants (Mama Mia, 39 steps, ...) and there is a small supermarket across the street... Mind you the hotel also has a small supermarket.
In Hastings (10 minutes walk away) is a small shopping area (The Lantarns) with a bank, several take-aways, a supermarket, sweat shops, ...
The tankstation is next to it.
You can walk to Hastings via the street (not so nice as a footpath is not always there and you often found yourself walking on the steet) or you can choose to go via the boardwalk. This wooden path starts a few minutes walk from the Coconut Court Beach Hotel and takes you to Ocra beach (flat beach but not big and not so special in my opinion but it's a goal to go to) and it also passing several good restaurants (Tapa's, Naru, The Blakey's) where you can have dinner from 6pm onwards and for all budgets. There's also a KFC.

The beach of the hotel is really beautiful and picture perfect ! Lots of palmtrees for shade so no uggly embrella's, lots of space (at least now there was, maybe this is different in high season)...
There's a sheltered place to swim in the sea but there are lots of stones so protective shoes might be something you like to bring with you (or buy in the shop of the hotel). Or ofcourse you can swim in the (small) swimming pool.

The hotel has an activity desk where you can book tours. They also bring you to several touristic places for free (Bridgetown, Earthwork pottery, Flower Forest, etc. etc.) ! You have to arrange return transport yourself but with public transport stopping across the hotel or lots taxi's that's no problem.

The day you leave you can use the showers in the activity building so you can enjoy the beach till the last moment of your vacation.

So, should you wonder what hotel to book for you vacation to Barbados I would check out the Coconut Court Beach hotel. It's really good value for your money !! I met several guests who come there for years and years and that does mean something !

Coconut court is a pretty basic hotel but when you are at the beach you don't spend a lot of time in the room. Even though the rooms are in need of updating they do have a kitchenette, the bath in our room was nothing special.
They do have the all inclusive plan available, but everybody gets the buffet breakfast.
The beach is right there with all kinds of water activities available.
The only other issue I have is the hotel is right next to the road, which can be noisy at times.

I stayed in this property to attend some business. Overall the room is good size and it includes a microwave oven, a sink and a small fridge. The bed is comfortable, the shower is acceptable size. The property location right in front of the sea is great. The flat screen tv is nice but the channel options are very limited. The breakfast included in the rate is really sad; it is just about 4 options of pastries, bananas and pieces of oranges, coffee, tea and juice; no protein available unless you pay extra for eggs, etc. This tricky when you are paying over 200 dollars a night. The internet is just frustrating; it drops every 5 minutes and it is VERY slow, again, a poor service considering the rate I was paying. Upon departure was the worst part of my stay. The hotel driver (he was driving the hotel van) was scheduled to take me to the airport early in the morning, what a mistake. I had made the reservation with the front desk for USD25. However, when I was boarding the van the driver told me the rate was USD30, because of the hour. I have traveled extensively and when this has happened to me is simply a sign of dishonesty. I did not have much options to bargain because I needed to catch my flight so I told him ok, after checking with the front desk lady who seemed uncomfortable with my question regarding the rate. Before leaving the hotel in the van I asked the driver for a receipt for the service. He got upset and told me he did not have receipts. I suggested him to go and get one from the front desk and he did not like the idea. I told him I was not leaving without a receipt in my hands. Then he told me that maybe I wanted to stay longer in Barbados and spend more money. I considered this a very rude behavior. He went to the front desk and got the receipt and gave it to me. On the way tot he airport I asked him to please switch on the AC in the vehicle. He said he was not turning it on because at that hour the temperature was very fresh. In summary, this was a very disappointing experience and was tipping point to exclude this property from my options to stay while in Barbados.

Room Tip: If you decide to stay here, go for rooms in the 2 and 3 floors
