“Not Sandy Lane but nor is the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

Just back from 2 weeks - 1st time at hotel. Initial disappointment of being in a non refurbished sea view room whose view was more of adjacent building and corrugated roofs rather than a sea view expanse. Paid Thomson's for upgrade too!. Granted the room was large and airy with good air con.

Hotel ceratinly has a family owned feel about it and is reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and courteous. None more so than Antonio who runs (often literally) the beach bar. Great efficiency and name recall too. Oce and Lamar were particularly pleasant and helpful. Seek out Vaida at the activities desk, knows the island backwards and is obliging. Deborah's cheery smile at breakfast was often a pleasant start to the day
The small man made reef on the beach has matured and is great for snorkelling, made even better by feeding the fish with a slice of breakfast bread! No shortage of loungers albeit some guests insist on plonking towels on them and then promptly not returning for hrs.
Boardwalk to Rockley starts 200m forn the south of the hotel. 2 good atmospheric restaurants along the way - Tapas and Naru. Good food but not the cheapest if price is an issue for you.
Mama Mia's across the road does excellent pasta and really nice thin pizzas. Blue Room across the road is part of the hotel and is handy for a happy hr. at 6. altho' rather spoilt bythe 2 barmen who are somewhat surly. Perhaps a day spent with Antonio would improve their demeanour and make them appreciate the importance of customer service. Our eating highlight on this trip was an Indian/Thai restaurant at the Gap - Apsara Samudra. If you're from UK don't be put off the concept of having an Indian meal when on your hol. in Caribbean!. The view and layout inside are spectacular and the food and service were likewise. The manageress has a real passion for her restaurant.I predict that this will soon top Tripadvisor reviews. For the avoidance of doubt from some other reviews both TGI Fridays and PIsces(at the Gap) are closed.

Transport along the main coastal road is best sourced by way of either the buses or the amazing reggae taxis - both are only $2 which is 66p! Rough and ready but helpful and will stop pretty well anywhere, Be prepared for some being cramped and you having to play musical chairs when others get on/off. We saw no need to use the mainstream taxis which are much more expensive

Catamaran trip was brilliant. Fed turtles and moored off Sandy lane for lunch. Bolador was the provider and Vaida will arrange for you. Small nos,. in our case only 8, meant that big Jeff and Chad provided an almost personal service. Much better than the huge ones such as TIami. If have own transport a trip to St Nicholas Abbey (more a stately home rather than the name suggests) is an eyeopener on a previous way of life.

Overall thoroughly enjoyable fortnight. If you want a friendly, well situated hotel that provides good avalue for money, this will suit you perfectly.

Room Tip: Top floor means less noise but quite a climb as no lifts

Our second stay at the Coconut Court was even better as we stayed for two weeks rather than one, in January. All the staff were welcoming, warm and friendly and the location on the beach is very hard to beat. As last year, the room was large and spacious and we used the toaster etc to make breakfast which we ate on the balcony whilst enjoying the amazing view. We ate in the Deck Restaurant several times which was lovely and also enjoyed eating at the different restaurants locally. The hotel promotes itself as being 'affordable' which it most certainly is. There are many people who return each year which I think, speaks for itself. The manager's cocktail parties are a great way of meeting fellow guests whilst enjoying the live music and 'Pirates Punch'. We are returning next year for three weeks and are already looking forward to it.

Room Tip: Higher floors have great sea views.

Second time to Barbados. Stayed in standard room which had a terrace. Decoration a bit 'jazzy' but usual for Caribbean. Drinks relatively cheap and lots of places to eat nearby if you fancy wandering out and about. Close to the boardwalk.

Have stopped in far more expensive places, but would recommend if you don't want to break the bank/last minute stay.

Our stay at the Coconut Court Beach Hotel, Hastings, Barbados was not the best. For example, when we arrived in the room the toilet seat was loose, the liquid soap dispenser in the bathroom and shower were clogged and the front door needed to be locked with the key in order to keep it closed. It seemed that the management expected the guest to find and report all of the deficiencies in the room.
Also, we had breakfast in the patio dining room and were told that it was served between 7 and 10am. We ordered breakfast at 9:40 am and promptly at 10 am the staff started to clear the dining room. When I asked for a refill to my coffee, which was included in breakfast, I was told that they don't make coffee after 10 am and if I wanted a second cup they would get it from the bar at a cost to me of $4.
I must say that the beach was very nice but one needed bathing shoes to get into the water because of the sand covered coral.

It was our first visit to Coconut Court Beach Hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We went with our son, daughter-in-law and 2 small Grandsons. It was perfect to have a lovely beach just outside our rooms, plus a restaurant. We would certainly go back and we do hope to.

Service was very prompt and management was courteous. The whole vacation was great. Beach was right out front of the hotel and very clean. Highly recommend. This was our first time at this hotel and we would come back again. People are very helpful,.weather was great in January. We never had a problem finding a sunbed or shade. Sunsets were great and the entertainment of music went very well. Food was great with a different selection each day and the money we spent was well worth the trip.

Room Tip: We had a superior ocean front room..great view!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Clean and practical room with a view to die for. Very friendly, efficient and well trained caring staff.

We were made to feel comfortable, welcome and at home.

The trip advice from Vaida was second to none and the all day trip with Ted's Tours is not to be missed.
