“What a holiday!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

Returned from coconut court beach hotel last week and feel i must write a review. What a wonderful place to stay, never been to Barbados and put a lot of time reviewing hotels. This hotel was perfect, so friendly, so polite so clean, a real family homely feel to it. The staff were all lovely. We had a few issues with our room but these were seen to immediately and all was good. We loved the themed nights, the singers were very entertaining. We met a few of the Blades family members who were very pleasant especially Linda. Teds tours was so much fun, that dude really knows his island!!! And his rum!!! We went on his tour with our family and friend who is in a wheel chair, Ted could not do enough for our friend, what a star. We shall be returning to Barbados in the near future and will be booking coconut court again. Thanks for making our trip so memorable

Room Tip: We had a standard room and certainly didnt expect a sea view. Our room was massive with a sea view an...

The Coconut Court Beach surprised me. After reading some of the other reviews I expected something totally different in a bad way, to my surprise the hotel was well maintained, clean and the staff was very friendly and hospitable. I thought my room was a little out dated with it's tile floor (but who goes to the islands to hangout in their room) the room was a nice size for 2 it had a mini kitchenette with microwave and convection oven but no sink (weird) but like I said the room was clean and cozy. The pool, beach and a Tiki bar is located right behind the hotel just a couple of steps away from all rooms. Although the hotel is located near the main road it was fairly quiet. There is The "Deck" resturaunt on premisis that provides a different dinner buffet each night, as well as breakfast and lunch ( please check the service times as they are not open all day- there're on island time) at the bar which was opened everytime we went has a nice Rum Punch ( have a drink with John a good conversationalist) they have Happy Hour that seemed to go on forever EVERYDAY- ENJOY and we met the some pretty interesting people at the Managers Cocktail Party ( Hi Linda). Across the street you'll find a bar/resturaunt that opens later in the day that plays a good assortment of music and tv with sports, a mini grocery store and Italian eatery that opens at 10:30am. For $2BB dollars you can get a very interesting ride on one of the mini vans which will take you just about anywhere you want to go on the island. We visited the Fish Fry Friday night- they have so many stands with food choices it was hard to choose, great music with local entertainment and it is very popular. The Harbor Lights has some pretty good entertainment - Fire eaters, stilt walkers, carnival dancers and some surpises that we really enjoyed. There were plenty of other places we ventured out too but it's best to do your reserach to find what is best for you. The locations were great, the locals are so polite and friendly I would defiantly visted the island and Coconut Court again.

Room Tip: Ask for a newly renovated room.

Stayed at the Coconut Court Apr.6-13/13 with my wife and a couple of friends. Had a fantastic time. Donna and her staff were very helpful and friendly. We had an Oceanview Studio on the topmost floor in the South tower. Fantastic view..!!!! Yeh, you can hear the noise from the street but if it's not bad and if you are tired enough from the daily activities, you should sleep like a baby in the night. We had a kitchenette which we used to make our own omelettes and have our own fish fry..!!! you gotta try the flying fish..it's delish..!!! This is a family run hotel & is at a great location in Garrison, at an affordable price. It's right on the beach, with the coconut trees providing a nice shade. This hotel is very clean and the staff attentive to our needs. One day the chair broke in our room. Within less than 5 mins, it was replaced..!!! We ate at the hotel once..the curry night on Thurs. This was excellent. They had goat curry, roti/dhall puri, chicken, peas n rice, etc.

One thing I must mention. I spoke with a few workers at the hotel and they said that the Blades family have always treated them fairly and with respect. They enjoy working at the Coconut Court and I could see that with the way we were treated & pampered for the week we were there. So Linda and family, great job and keep up the good work!!!!

Most nights there are local musicians playing at poolside, which is close to the beach. You can dance to the music or just relax, have a drink and enjoy the music with the sound of the ocean in the background..Gee I am missing this already..!!!!

Just in front of the hotel, you can take the public bus or the local # 11 mini-buses (there is always room for one more..!!!!) for only B$2.To the right it will take you to St Lawrence Gap or Oistins. To the left, it will take you to Bridgetown. You have to try the fish fry on Fri nights at Oistins. Right on the beach with fresh fish that the boats/trawlers just brought in.They call it "fish fry" but you can have your fish grilled..!!! They also serve lobster, shrimp, scallops..and with sides like plantain, salad, mac & cheese or whatever else you want, it's a steal of a deal..and the portions are big.

We had a fridge in our room, so we stocked it with all the necessities,,milk, eggs n of course beer..Across the street is a convenience store called Bert's. It's run by Bertie & Margaret, very friendly and nice people. We buy our Banks Beer (this is the local beer) there, sometimes 4 for B$10 which is way cheaper than at the hotels. You can also get some nice snacks like tuna sandwiches & fish cakes. Directly across the hotel is the restaurant/bar called Blue Room. It's owned by Coconut Court and has a full selection of menu items and beverages. Try their home made hamburger..it's great..!! You can order take out and bring it back to your room or the beach. Happy hour is from 6-7. Fri nights have a live band playing. Some nights they have friendly Wii & Karaoke tourney. It's a friendly and lively atmosphere, so bring your kids and enjoy.

For a lot more selection of grocery items, you can take the bus (to the right of the hotel) to Big B's Supermarket that has everything you can ask for and at reasonable prices. Just ask the bus driver to drop you off and he will dIrect you. There is a free shuttle that will bring you back to the hotel, so check their schedule when you get to the supermarket.

Walk along the beach from Coconut Court to the boardwalk. It will take you into Accra beach area. A very leisurely & picturesque walk. When you get into Accra beach, go see Melinda in the parking lot. She is the very nice lady that sells fresh home made food from her catering van every day. For B$12-15 you can get a big chunk of fried/grilled fish (Mahi Mahi/Red Snapper/King Fish) or chicken, with peas n rice & salad. She also has chowmein, mac n cheese, sometimes oxtail. The food is very good and is way cheaper than in the restaurants. So you gotta try this.

There is so much more I can write about Barbados and Coconut Court. All in all, it's a great place. So enjoy and make your own memories. Don't go with any preconceived ideas, except to have a relaxing & great time.

We will go back to Coconut Court in a heartbeat. In fact, we are already planning our next trip for Easter next year. Hearing our great experience, more friends want to join us at Coconut Court. So Donna and the Blades family..watch out, we are coming..!!!!!!

Contact me at royalb@hotmail.ca if you have more specific questions.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less A/C unit noise and a great view of the beach and Ocean.

I booked this hotel because it was a beachfront and close to most shops and restaurants. I was not disappointed. The added bonus was the boardwalk just a few steps away. Some of the previous reviewers mentioned the street noise and loud club music. Our rooms were very close to the street, however the street sounds did not affect us at all...
The bathrooms are basic and small, but clean. Only thing though, you'd need to bring your own toiletries. They provide towels for the beach, which is great. Also you'd need to bring bug repellent for the outdoors. Overall, coconut Court is a quiet, tranquil property.....with just the right activities to suit every age and taste. This was my 5th visit to Barbados, and I have no regrets in choosing this hotel.

My husband & I stayed in Coconut Court in Aug for 2 weeks for our honeymoon. He told me that before we went, he requested if there was anything special that could be done as we were on our honeymoon i.e champagne/flowers..but they could do nothing whatsoever. This was not really a major problem, but it would have been nice as we just got married & spent a lot of money to stay there.

When we arrived I thought it looked ok, there are no elevators at all, so no disabled access for less abled people, but we were absolutely fine. It was just a struggle walking up 3 flights of stairs with a 15kg suitcase.

The bedroom was nice and spacious and no complaints there. The breakfast was practically the same boring food everyday & my husband & I felt unhealthy eating it by the end of the holiday. The lady who served breakfast also limited how much we could eat & even said we were only 'allowed 3 or 4 ' fishcakes. Seeing as we paid thousands for the holiday, we thought that was a bit tight of them.

The location is great, beaches were beautiful & we had an enjoyable time, so overall it was a good holiday & nice stay, but I would call Coconut Court one of the lower end hotels for people who cant afford better. But all in all..it was a good stay.

I wish i could've saw a review like this for Coconut Court before i went so here it is. I am 25, my girlfriend was 21 when we were there and we went mid June 2013 to Barbados.

Ok so the hotel is fantastic! It isn't a 5 star complex so whoever complains about the room/bar/restaurant/pool quality is just being a miserable sod. The rooms are a good size and cleaned every day, the bar is clean and drinks are as to be expected, the food in the restaurant is nice and the pool/beach area is safe, tidy and well maintained.

The people of Barbados are the friendliest on the planet, and Coconut court is no exception. The staff will always say hello, they are always willing to help and very polite. Outside of coconut court you can talk to anyone there, i promise you.Talk to the rasta with missing teeth and tattoos on his face and he will be friendly, polite and welcoming. The people are what make this island so very special.

The location of Coconut Court is on a great beach, within walking distance of other nice beaches. There's wifi on the beach too which is useful! It is situated on a main road where the buses can take you anywhere on the island for $2 (£0.66), i strongly recommend getting the buses to various other beaches (especially Crane beach down south).

The food is great everywhere. The fish is caught and cooked the same day which is wonderful wherever you go. The jerk chicken was my favourite in Blue Room Bar (opposite Coconut Court) and cost $30 (£10).

The weather was beautiful for the majority of the time. It rained a couple of days for a few hours but didn't last long and the sun was back out pretty quickly.

We visited for my girlfriend Shannon's birthday. It was the holiday of a lifetime (coconut court put flowers and rum punch in our room on her birthday). I cannot recommend this place enough. I hope to go back next year.

Oh, and go on Ted's Island tour. He's hilarious and will get you hammered and take you all the way around the island.

Aaron.

We are currently staying here, and have no complaints. The beach is very tidy, and offers shaded areas, with lots of palm trees. The staff are very attentive and genuinely interested in your stay being pleasant. Having met one of the family owners, he was also very chatty and sincere in his interest of our comments. The rooms are cleaned every day and are spotless. The restaurant is what you'd expect of a small, boutique hotel in the off season. All in all, great value for the price we paid. Free wifi is a bonus, even when it is sometimes hit and miss.
