First off I would just like to say there is nothing wrong with the hotel but previously stayed at 5 star resorts and as the adage goes . You get what you pay for....
The food was ok, usual all inclusive fare but Service was quite patchy at times. One night we got asked by three different staff if we wanted drinks then the first waitress forgot to bring them over.
It was also a bit hit and miss if you recieved tea or coffee in the morning depending on the time you got to breakfast. I got the impression that certain male staff favoured the ladies and didn't want to put the effort in for us gents and would avoid eye contact and make out they was busy untill the next female came along.
Other points:
Room ok overlooked the beach but was noisy untill 1am.Your probably better of with a pool view room.
Hardly any sunbeds around the small pool and packed close together but beaches either side of the hotel are nice and suitable for swimming.
Lots of steps at the hotel and the slippery tiles are a nightmare when it rains.

First ever review on trip advisor but I read some comments and felt the need! This hotel and the staff don't deserve bad reviews. The food is Rachel's is probably the best I have had in a hotel although normal portions which may be the issue for some..
The staff are all nice and helpful. Rooms are a good size ,bathrooms may be ready for a upgrade but ok.Beach is nice but as said stones in sea so sea shoes good idea. First night in beach bar baby turtles hatched around started running about they had to dodge the fag ends that the dead heads drop but still nice to see. Most days on beach you can see turtles out in the sea.
Only fault is the tourists(brits mainly)that leave fag ends and plastic cups about because they cant be bothered to walk to the bins.
Jeep and catamaran trips are the best(in my view)
If you are reading these reviews thinking of booking just book it don't listen to the moans. Open air restaurant's and moaning about birds whatever next!!!!.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at the Savannah Beach hotel. I had read before I went that the floor gets very slippery when wet and there was a lot of stairs. We choose a room on the ground floor right outside the pool area. We could see the pool from our bedroom. This is in a terrific position because a short stroll and I found an elevator eliminating all the stairs which was great. The food is great very English and plenty off it, I do agree with some comments about the birds flying around the restaurant but they did not bother us and the view from Rachels helped compensate for this occasional interruption. There are two things I would comment in the bathroom is very dated and could do with the grout replacing and the beach although really lovely the coral in the sea is in a pain when getting in and out of the sea. Jackie is one of the staff and is a real treasure when walking up and down the beach getting up hot lazy sunbathers drinks. Thanks Jackie. There is not much else I can say I would go back to this hotel it is in a great position you only have to walk out the door to get the number 11 local taxi to Bridgetown or Ortis for 2BD$ each a trip. Great adventure. To be honest I wish I had never come back but all good things must come to an end.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor pool side room with a huge king size bed, great position and a shot walk to th...

My wife and I stayed here for 7 days in September before going on a cruise. I will try to give a balanced review but everyone has different opinions.
I will start by saying I would give this a 3 and half rating if I could. The check in was quick and you were given a nice rum punch and then we were shown to our room which was a beach view suite, this was at the other end of the hotel to reception.
The beach view suite which was great it was on 2 floors with 2 bathrooms 2 TV's 2 balconies, a lovely room with great views of the beach, the only downside was that you got some noise from Drifters on a night but as that finished fairly early it did not bother us.
The restaurants were for the most part quite good, You have buffet breakfast at Rachel's which is fine it could probably do with bit more fresh fruit but on the whole OK. Dinner was buffet at Drifters which was the most disapointing there was always something to eat with 3 or 4 choices but it was a bit limited, the salad bar was a bit on the small side too.
For eveing meal you could book Rachels a la carte which on the whole was very good the only thing was the deserts didn't change in the week we were there 4 choices or fruit.
It has 2 pools a lazy river type and one next to Drifters both were always quiet and good for a cool down.
The beach is only small but good, the only downside is that it is no good for swimming as it is very rocky but as other people have commented the beaches either side are ok for swimming.
There is a guy who puts the loungers out for on morning where ever you want.
The staff on the whole give a good service and are quite friendly, I did tip a few at the end of the week but I am sure you don't have to.The entertainment was of normal hotel standard some better than others but just ok.
The hotel do a few trips that we went on, they go on Wednesday and thursday to another beach to the Copacobana bar where you get 2 drink vouchers each, worth a trip as it is a great beach. We also did the free shuttle to St Lawerence gap but it returns at 10.30pm and that is when it is just starting to get busy.
We also went to the horse racing on Saturday as it is just across the road this was good fun even if I didn't win a bean.
We also got the reggae bus to Oistins on Frdiay night for the fish fry this was a good experience.
To sum up we had a good time and the hotel is good it is just a bit quiet as the people that were there tend to be of the older age group and there is no watersport equipment. It is great if you just want to lay on sunbed all day and go to bed fairly early. Would we go again maybe if the price was right there is nothing wrong with the hotel it is just that we have been to better.

Room Tip: The suites are great loads of room

Dear HobyJoby1,

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us. It is very valuable and allows us to examine our operation from our guest's perspective. We apologize for the limited options that were offered at Drifter's restaurant and the repetition of our deserts at Rachel's restaurant; we are having our Chef look into this concern and provide a resolution.

Thank you for the kind compliments of the team and your favorable comments of your beach view suite. Our staff truly work diligently to ensure that all our guests have memorable holidays. It is great that you had the opportunity to enjoy some of the island when you visited Oistins, Carlisle Bay beach and watched the horse-racing at the Garrison Savannah. These are all great choices for a true Barbadian cultural experience.

Once again thank you for your review; we are happy that you had a good time and an overall pleasant experience. We certainly look forward to visits from you in the near future.

We have just returned from another fantastic holiday at the Savannah Beach Hotel,We do recommend this hotel to everyone, this was our second trip, and we look forward to the third, the food is excellent ,the hotel is very clean and constantly being maintained and updated. The staff are very friendly & welcoming. This hotel is excellent value for money, the people who moan about this hotel - all I can say is "I would like to see your home and what meals you offer to your family!"with such variety everyone should be able to find something they enjoy.also what a location - fantastic.
Birds. - yes the birds do fly around the restaurant, but the birds were here long before the hotel, and you get to enjoy a beautiful view without anything interrupting it. The staff are constantly cleaning the place so it's not a problem.maybe the folk who object to birds also don't like sharing the beach. With the hatching turtles!
Barbados is a paradise island, with friendly locals, you feel safe walking/exploring around the island - no need to stay on a guarded hotel complex,so if you want a relaxing, good value holiday, please go to the Savannah Beach Hotel and enjoy paradise.

We have just returned from our stay at this hotel.
We found the food was excellent and varied, particularly at Drifters and the deserts were very good - too good in fact!!!!
There are issues with birds however this is the Caribbean and its open air dining so it goes with the territory.
Rooms were big and bed very comfortable. Cleaned very well daily .
Staff very accommodating and helpful.
We thought the hotel was excellent value for money considering the cost as compared to other places on the island . Yes, you may get more luxurious facilities elsewhere but you are paying twice the price for it!

We have just returned from staying at this hotel and I would not recommend it to anyone.
At best the food was limited and the restaurants were poor - Drifters was very basic and the food choice was very limited, Chop Stix was never occupied as there was a cover charge and Rachel's was infested with birds who were free to fly around and sit anywhere - tables, crockery, cutlery !! The place was constantly being cleaned by staff - bird droppings on seats, tables etc, etc.
Not nice - disgusting and very unhygienic !!
Stay away and spend your hard earned money elsewhere would be our advice.

Dear Mick & Karen,

Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. We sincerely apologize for, and regret that, your experience with us was unfavorable and less than satisfactory. We have previously explored ways such as ultrasonic repellers that would prevent the birds from entering the restaurant. Since this approach has had minimal effect, we are presently exploring alternative options that will be harmless to the birds, yet effective in minimizing their presence. As you highlighted, we will continue to have our team maintain the cleanliness of our restaurant and the property.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback with us. We certainly hope that you would allow us another opportunity to regain your confidence in the near future.
