I've just returned from a holiday at the Savannah and all I can say is - book it it's lovely! In fact I was suprised just how lovely it was when we arrived because I don't think the website photos really do it justice. The staff are really friendly and welcoming, the entire hotel is beautifully clean (I'm not sure how they manage it but everywhere you go in the resort is pristine!). The pool is always crystal clear. And the kids had so much to do they had the time of their lives.
We were in a suite with an upstairs double bedroom and our two daughters slept downstairs in what would usually be a sitting room - it was absolutely ideal for a family of four. It meant we could put the kids to bed at night and go and watch a movie on our own balcony upstairs without disturbing them. The rooms were really pretty with a kind of colonial theme (blue shutters and fans) and the balcony is huge, all the family often hung out on the comfy sofa/sunbeds.
My kids got a bit sunburnt on the beach one day so spent the following morning playing for hours in the kids room. They are 10 and 7 so didn't really need to join the kids club but were allowed into the games room to play table tennis, air hokey, pool etc. Then they could just ask a member of staff to unlock the video games room and their were playstations and computers - their idea of heaven.
I know I'm rambling, but I really, really, really was impressed with this place. Everything you could want. It's true you need shoes for the reef beach but a short walk takes you down to the Hilton beach which is great for swimming and there are buses to other beaches. Anyway my kids played happily in the sea on the sand before you reached the reef so they were happy! Plus we got the bonus, once we'd bought reef shoes and snorkels, of watching the fish and paddling with a turtle who was playing on the reef right next to us! The pool is another great option and as it winds its way around the hotel grounds there are loads of little areas where you can play without being disturbed, if you're a keen swimmer it's also great for swimming laps in the morning.
