“Another little Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

We stayed at the savannah over christmas and the new year...We sometimes stayed at Escape @the Gap but since it closed we followed the staff who have become friends of ours to the Savannah were we made even more friends, we stayed in the Plantation House which was a delightful change from the rooms we have stayed in.... thats not to say the usual rooms are any less appealing it was olde worldy really nice, the staff were on the ball we even named Tyrone TIGHT SHIP Tyrone because he was so efficient,Zac the Chef was an absolute gem, nothing was to much trouble, Keitha, Carol-ann, Andre, and the guy who took our luggage to our room...whose name escapes me whenever we called on him was only too eager to help.
The Food was lovely, rooms were clean as were all the public areas, the oonly drawback was the beach the sea is not where you can plunge staight into as it is rocky and not very deep, however it is nothing to jumping on a bus and going down to Dover beach, 10 bajan dollars for bed and brolly for the day, pence...Although it says ALL INC that really only includes local beers and spirits anything else there is a charge for
Would I go Back?....YES I WOULD

“Nice and quiet very laid back place....maybe to much”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

We came down out of the great white north to experience the outstanding Barbados climate. Our group chose this as our all inclusive for this trip. Nice sprawling complex from the roadway all the way down to the beach. Our room was in the lower part of the complex allowing us quick acces to the beach and drifters. Others in our group were in the main area above the lobby. These were older rooms but still ok. The buffet at drifters was great we enjoyed it more than the sit down at Rachels. I am not sure about chop stir it appeared that no one was there. The bar staff along with all the other staff was very helpful and pleasant. The pool on the other hand needs some work filtration seems to be an issue. They need to make the winding pool into a lazy river with its beautiful vegetation. There really is only one bar most of the day located at Drifters. The clientele sure like it quiet. If you are looking for rocking nightlife or even music at the bar area this isn't the place but if you are looking for quiet and relaxing this is it.

Room Tip: Rooms out of the main building provide easy beach access

“Our best holiday ever !!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013 via mobile

My partner and I spent 10 days at the Savannah Beach from 8th of January. We stayed in The Plantation house and just adored it, high ceilings, shuttered windows, wood floors and wonderfullly light and airy, full of charm and history ( this is the oldest hotel on the Island ). We had a look at the other rooms in the newer building and they were lovely too but more executive/modern style. The staff are all friendly, helpful and courteous and we thought the food was amazing both at Rachels restaurant and buffet style at drifters, compliments to the chef and all the kitchen staff. I loved the birds flying around as I was having breakfast.. How could you not?
There isn't a bad beach in Barbados if one isn't to your liking then just walk five minutes either direction they are all public, just the beds belong to the hotels not the sea and the sand!
Oistins on Friday night is fun but busy for tables to eat so get there early ( we had to wait about 1 hour to be served )
We loved the virgin ahoy catamaran trip once again great staff and food aboard and we swam with turtles and snorkelled. We booked this with Donna the rep who was efficient and available and friendly.
We took a walk to the race track and the staff were welcoming at the trainers stables and allowed us to walk around the yard and meet the race horses, goats, sheep and kittens.
We can recommend the Barbados museum by the race track and the garrison area in general as it's a unesco world heritage site.
We travelled every where by bus or foot, the buses are frequent and only 1 US dollar each and play great music.
We also went horse riding at Ocean echo stables and had a wonderful time even though my partner has never riden a horse before, the horses were well cared for and obviously loved.
All in all we had the perfect holiday and I would definitely go back to the Savannah beach as I felt it was a home from home. All the staff should be congratulated a big hug to the adorable Susan and hopefully we will see you again. Many thanks Ruth and Nick
