“The Ziakis - best hotel in Rhodes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Our 7th trip (2nd this year) and The Ziakis never fails to deilver. The view from Room 420 still "Wows" me every time. Spotlessly clean, wonderful pool, pool bar (great food Yannis) and a family who will do anything to make your holiday special. Thankyou to Mika, Stella and Yannis for another relaxing, warm and friendly holiday. Looking to returning next year.

Room Tip: Rooms on top floors.

The Ziakis is located on a hilltop overlooking Pefkos - lovely views from a lot of the rooms and also the swimming pool terrace. It is family run - all very friendly and welcoming; Mum and dad only have a little "holiday English" the daughter who works in the afternoons speaks fluent English. The dad runs the shop - very handy for water and basics - open all day until quite late 9- 10pm?
Our room 520 was in the main building with a large open terrace and sea view. The room was very clean and well maintained. It had a small kitchen area with sink, worktop, fridge, kettle and enough equipment to cope with breakfast and snacks (note no toaster) Bathroom was fine, plenty of hot water. Bed and pillows comfy enough. Sheets and towels changed every couple of days. Could here some noise from the bar and corridor at night. If you want the air conditioning it was 50 Euros a week; to stay late in your room on your last day 30 Euros (thought this was a lot so we didn't use either). There is a shower and hair dryer in the pool side toilet area which is adequate to get washed and changed in on your last day.
The swimming pool was large and lovely to swim in once you got used to the cold water! The sun beds had comfy cushions and were adjustable but a few had splits in the plastic bases so needed checking prior to use.
The pool side snack bar was great for lunch - there was a good selection of reasonably priced food and Iannis (sp?) was helpful and friendly. He was also a good cook who paid a lot of attention to hygiene and presentation. The pool bar did unfortunately shut at about 5pm so there was no service after that until he was back on duty at the main bar in the evening. You will have to venture out at night for dinner - the nearest restaurant is about 15 mins walk away. Numerous restaurants to choose from in Pefkos 15 - 25 mins walk
As others have said - the walk into town is Ok - 10-15mins downhill; the walk back at night is very dark and quite steep - not great after dinner and a few drinks. The best solution is a taxi
5 Euros approx. There are 3 beaches you can walk to in about 20-25 mins - with beds/umbrellas to hire.
The hotel next door - the Pefkos Blu - has a great bar and spectacular view for watching the sunset and having a pre dinner drink. Turn left out of the Ziakis and walk for about 5 mins, bearing left and you will come to the Pefkos Blu.
We thought the Ziakis was great value and would highly recommend it to couples. Family ok but you would need a car - children would not like the hill!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

Just stayed here this month, and the hotel was fantastic, clean, well provided and relatively self contained.
However, the shop is not great the restaurant does not have loads of choice and it is a LONG walk to the main town.
The brochures will tell you its 300m; if you are using a zipline to the beach this is correct, however to walk to the main beach on Ley St (Not Kavos Beach, this is closer) it is a good 2 miles its a long winding road not particularly busy but it is an inconvenience especially if you have younger kids or old folk and at night stretches of it are completely unlit. Taxi to the hotel from the main town is a fixed €5 which is a rip off considering its on €8 to Lindos which is 4 times further away!
The old guy that works there does not speak a word of English and that is not an English tourist being arrogant but if you are running a hotel for predominantly English guests you should at least be able to understand someone asking where the bus stop is and not just wave you off in Greek!

Overall this is a very nice hotel, clean spacious and a good base with fantastic views and facilities but be prepared to walk... a lot. There is a shortcut that cuts the walk in half but it can be treacherous so take a torch!

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday staying in these apartments. The rooms are spacious , comfortable and spotlessly clean. The views from this hotel are spectacular. The complex is well maintained and all the public areas are spotless. This Hotel wouldn't be suitable for anyone with mobility problems. There's a steep hill to tackle to reach the hotel - it's nicknamed "cardiac hill" However, if you're fit enough, it's well worth the effort!!

Room Tip: The best views are from the upper floors.

The Ziakis Hotel is a really lovely place to stay in Pefkos. Spotlessly clean, very helpful, peaceful, and sea view from room 420 are amazing. Yes the Ziakis is a little further up in the village but we had no problem walking up the goat track twice a day in the heat !!!!! The walk to the main beach was about a slow 20 mins downhill. TIP..... TAKE A TORCH YOU WILL NEED IT FOR LATE NIGHT RETURNS....safe for ladies to walk up goat track at 1.30 am ish.... I would definitely stay here again its perfect ....thank you Ziakis x

I loved this hotel. It is run by a family who were absolutely lovely. They couldn't do enough for us. Unfortunately my luggage was lost so my holiday was pretty much ruined but the people at the hotel were so friendly and helpful. I would love to go back again but this time I wouldnt fly with Thomas Cook.
