We were aware of the hill and the goats track plus the lack of TV's in rooms etc, all appealed to us as we really wanted to get away from everything. The cleaning staff work very hard to keep the place clean and tidy, Yannis the barman/catering is a smiley guy who works hard on customers and his employers behalf the place wouldnt be so good without him. We found the washing and drying of used towels and bedlinen around the hotel, very 'Heath Robinson' and not really professional. The place seems very tired and lack lustre. The cost of hiring safe and a/c we found to be very pricey and it wasnt made clear the safe was a charge instead of the normal deposit. The views are stunning and the area around the apartments is lovely, we walked everywhere and found the goat track with real goats quite enjoyable although always best to do it when its cooler! Owners dont speak English and this seems to make them standoffish which is a shame. Pefkos itself is very good, lots of choice for restaurants, nice beach, lots of small and reasonably priced supermarkets, friendly people and of course lots of lovely weather, would recommend the resort.

Returned to Ziakis again for the 2nd time, stayed in September. The place is nice and clean and all rooms are cleaned on a daily basis apart from Sunday (some people on Trip advisor think this is a problem, I bet they dont change their sheets every day!)

Short cut is still there and is quicker (we tried it coming back from the Elina supermarket) Beer still 3 euros at Ziakis, after a few days we chose to get it from the supermarket in Pefkos (bottom of cardiac hill) for 1-1.50 euro I think. They sell croissants, pastries, sausage rolls etc there and reasonable price for beer and wine (wine 2.70 euros and it was nice too). Best time to go down is in the morning before 9am as it will be a hot walk back up cardiac hill.

The old chap who looks after the small supermarket upstairs and the reception was ok when we arrived but after that he didnt reply with hello when we were being friendly. I just ended up ignoring him in the end saving my breathe. Mrs Stella on the other hand was friendly along with Yannis who is a trooper working 9am-5pm then 8pm -1am (ish).

We were upgraded to a 2 bed apartment with seaview when we only booked a 1 bed apartment which was great. No need for air con with 2 balcony doors open! I heard about somebody that booked a 2 bed apartment and wanted air conditioning and had to pay for 2 air con units, the rooms are in a U shape with the kitchen and front door at the top and at the top of each bedroom is an air con unit. Be aware they will charge you for 2 air con units even in a 2 bed apartment!

Taxi is still 5 Euros up or down to Pefkos, it takes 15 minutes walking from Ziakis turning left past Dimitris apartments and down into Pefkos (you will pass the supermarket here that I mentioned previously)

Tips: Try the 7.90 euro meals at the restaurants at the bottom of cardiac hill ideal for 3 courses and taste nice too. If there are 4 of you, you will also get a free litre of wine which tastes ok.

If you start getting belly ache etc (drink bottled/canned beer, we found this out after 3 days of drinking draught at Ziakis and in the bars in Pefkos not sure which place made our stomachs feel off though, so best stick to bottles, whether it was coming to end of season and the pumps hadnt been cleaned im not sure).

All in all a great holiday, would go again for sure!

We have recently returned from 2 weeks holiday in pefkos staying at the ziakis yes it is up a steep hill but the views were amazing. Our apartment was room 314 and it was the best apartment we have had in all the years we have been onholiday the balcony view was spectacular. Everyone at ziakis is lovely stella and her family are so friendly. The pool is nice and clean and you can have a nice meal at the pool bar cooked by yannis who is also the barman he works really hard hes a star. Loved pefkos some great bars lindos is great also. We had the best ever holiday i would highly recommend ziakis .

My partner and I stayed here in August 2010 for 2 weeks. Had gorgeous views of the sea in the distance from our room. As we arrived in the dark, it was fab (and a bit of a shock) to wake up to it in the morning! Loved this hotel and good value for money.

Staff were very friendly, although did have a bit of a mix up with the lack of english speaking staff, as our trip had been cancelled but they were not able to pass the message on and waited for an hour in the blazing heat for the coach that never came! But were always very friendly and helpful.

Steep hill to and from the beach/ shops and restaurants. We explored the 2 different paths up to the hotel, depending on which one we prefered to trek up each time! On one side is a goat trail and isnt far, but steeper. The other is slightly flatter but further to walk. Also got a bus and taxi easily to Lindos from Pefkos.

Such a fab holiday and would definitly recommend this hotel to others (as long as you're prepared to walk uphill a little!)
