Well I am still a little bleary eyed from the flight at silly o clock home, but thought I would write the review whilst it was all still fresh!
I went to Pefki Islands for a week with 2 friends. We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was lovely and clean on our arrival with all the essentials on hand, even a bottle of cold water in the fridge!bottle opener, tin opener, pots and pans etc etc all there. The bedrooms were a lot bigger than I had anticipated which was a lovely suprise. However there is a lack of "living space" which was fine for us but could be a problem for families. The only other room was the kitchen and then the balcony/veranda outside. The TV was in the main bedroom. Both of our rooms were ensuite, which was very handy with 3 ladies trying to get ready for a night out!! Towels, bedding etc changed daily except for Sunday. The air con was 65 euros per unit for the week. If you have a 2 bed apartment like us then there are 2 units...one in each bedroom. We managed with just paying for the one in the main bedroom and leaving the doors open and this worked well for us... and saved us 65 euros!
Reception staff were all really really friendly and would help out with any problems. Our Rep was Saul and he was friendly and full of good advice on where to visit, how to get there and was available most days if he was needed. He had a timetable on the wall upstairs so you always knew when he was due in. We were also given a 24 hour helpline number in case he was not available.
The super market at LInidia Thalassa was fab.. Don't bother packing tea, coffee etc as it was all there...English brands that we all know and love. Including marmite and Nutella!! Also there is a reasonable selection of toiletries, so don't panic if you forget shampoo etc.
My favourite restaurant was Enigma, the food here was the best we had all week, so went twice! However we also ate at Nostalgia, Hellas Gardens, Coliseum and the new Elia restaurant just near the hotel. I didn't have a bad meal all week. As Elia is new I guess we need to be patient. They ran out of deserts the night we went!! They did also do a Sunday Roast which was a new gimmick they were trialing. I didn't have that, but others in that night did and it looked nice. Most places seemed to have a kids menu or could do half portions. Also a good mix of traditional Greek and more familiar meals were available everywhere.
My favourite trip was one we organised prior to going which was a 4x4 safari of the Island. We found it online by searching for things to do in Rhodes. Our driver Ray is an Ex Pat and knew loads about the ISland as well as Greek traditions and Culture. We visited some lovely areas that unless you hire a car may be tricky to get to.
Overall I had a great week, and it just wasn't long enough for me! I could easily have filled another week!
Pack your suncream as it was pretty warm all week, reaching anywhere up to 37 degrees! AlsoI will warm of small insects that like to nibble, I was only bitten 3 or 4 times, however my friend was clearly very tasty and got some nasty bites indeed. She wore insect repellant every day so whether they are immune I don't know. The only thing I did different to her was taking antihistamine every day for my hayfever.. We read in a magazine whilst we were there that to avoid getting bitten and reacting badly take antihistamine for a week before travelling. This may be why I was not affected so badly as I take it every day during the summer!
I would reccomend Pefki Islands as Pefkos is a busy resort with lots to do and good transport links!
Have a great holiday!
