“Don't miss it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

Really amazing, paintings on wooden walls inside are so vivid and impressing. Taking pictures is not allowed but your mind will hardly forget these views

“Restored palace of major ruler”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

An unusual and elegant building. No English spoken when I went, except "No photos indoors," which I always regret. Search out the older palace, Khan Evi, using an all-Azerbaijan guide to find it!

“Moderately interesting 18th century local ruler's house”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Within the walls of the 'citadel' of Sheki are a number of buildings. A round 19th C Russian church (built on much older foundations) houses a modern craft shop/museum, and elsewhere there is a bookshop/museum. The main sight is the 18th C pavillion that was one of the residences of the 18th C rulers of Sheki, lovingly (over)-restored in recent times. As well as the rather discordantly colourful decoration, the highlight is the 18th C frieze depicting the local ruler's military victory in the 1740s against the Persian empire. Fascinating.

“Nice Architecture, Surrounded by History”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

The place has it's own grandeur, and is full of History of Azerbaijan. However, If there were descriptions in English, things would have been better

“Interesting place, interesting tour”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

The tour was very interesting, but it was in Azeri. With my Turkish and our guides broken English translation, it was good. It is interesting to see how a Khan lived in his summer home. Go in the Spring if you can when the garden is in bloom.
