“O.K.but could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

We stayed at Georges apartments during early September. On the whole we enjoyed our stay. The complex is kept tidy, particularly the pool area.

The rooms are reasonably large, for Greece. Bathroom had what you’d expect, shower, toilet etc. Air con . was payable locally and safe deposit boxes were €1.50 a day. We had a balcony which overlooked an inner courtyard and had views of the mountains to the rear of Stoupa, again all very good.

There were a couple of issues which people have mentioned in previous reviews. We arrived Sunday and had no maid service until Wednesday. This continued for the whole of our two week stay, towels and bed linen changed every three days. On a couple of occasions during these visit’s the kitchen bin and the toilet bin were emptied but not always. Also only one toilet roll was provided. It was only through talking to other guests who had been before that we learnt that you are expected to empty your own bins and provide toilet rolls. There is a definite communication issue here, either Thomas Cook or the Georges management need to make these issues known to visitors, not just rely on word of mouth.

Overall though a good place to stay but the cleanliness of the apartments is largely down to you.

recently returned from our first time to stoupa staying at the georges.Location is ideal for access to the nearby beach area, but the facilities in the apartments leave a lot to be desired,no kettle,no toaster, you even have to buy your own toilet rolls after your initial one when you arrive, and the toilet bins are only emptied every three days(health&safety issue)these things should be addressed.but overall these issues did not stop us from having a great holiday, plenty of great tavernas/cafe bars nearby.there is a nearby hire shop for you to hire kettles/toasters portable heaters if required

came to Stoupa 4years ago, and stayed at Georges, nice little complex, small and friendly. Nothing much has changed at all, the resort itself seemed much busier, more sunbeds on the beaches, obviously word has spread over the years and more and more people are discovering this lovely area. Georges still has a well run, complex, nice spacious rooms, cleaners did a good job, changing towels and bedding every few days,. Air con can be purchased daily, as can security boxes. Free wifi area. Free spring water on tap outside, still operational and lovley.Pete the barman, helpful and friendly offering plenty of advice on where to eat, what to see etc. there is now a bigger supermarket up the road, as well as the smaller one on the beach road, which stocks virtually anything you would need. the resort has a great number of tavernas and eateries, offering pretty much similar menus all at reasonable costs. Dionysos being one of the cheapest we found, offering a kids menu, Yesterday & Today, pretty good value, and our favourite was Akrigialos overlooking the harbour on the corner, wonderful breakfasts, lunches and dinners, at excellent prices and friendly staff. We ate often in Aggelikis on the road out to Kalogria, just such friendly staff and nice food, But all the restaurants we tried over 2 weeks were Great we didn't experience anything bad at all, its just personal preference. wine by the carafe was cheap and tasted very nice. Menus all offering choices of pasta, greek, fish, meatball, pork, beef, chicken, kebabs (souvlaki). even found a place that did Tuna Jacket and sandwiches fresh, for my fussy daughter. You can visit Aghios Nik by walking/cycling/running along the 5mile coastal path which offers breathtaking scenery. Ag Nik is a much quieter and pretty winding roads and more of a harbour, fishing village, a really cool idea of a diving board for the kids to jump into the sea, down by one of the tavernas which seemed popular, ours loved this, after the Hot walk from Stoupa. For a shorter walk , is Kalogria beach, 10 minutes or so from Stoupa, it is much busier, but the sea is so clear, and shallow, and has cool spots, with rockpools to explore, and ball games area on the beach. There is also a tiny tucked away beach In stoupa, halikoura, 2 minutes walk, but shingley and not as inviting as the main beach, but a quiet hideway in idyllic quiet corner.
From the main beach in stoupa, you can hire motorboats and pedaloes. and snorkelling is enjoyable too. The harbour is a lovely area to watch the many cats, wait in line for the fisherman to return. Although I wouldn't suggest this resort to families as such, because the age range here is predominantly 45+, we love it here, and our kids are 9 and 12, so were a little outnumbered, but we particularly enjoy the flexibility and simpleness of self catering, and we as a family enjoy the eating out everyday, communicating and connecting with the genuine locals, and making friends. If your children are more into kids clubs, activities, and flume rides, then its not for you, but if you like to experience Greek culture, beautiful scenery, beaches and wonderful food, then its perfect.

Room Tip: we had room 103 which was really spacious for the 4 of us, huge big terrace overlooking the pool.

We have been to stoupa for 9 years and 5 of those years we stayed in George's. the rooms are huge with a kitchen area and a bathroom. The pool is lovely and Maria and all the staff are very very friendly. The apartments are way better than the lefktron which we tried 2 years ago. It is very close to the beach and shops and restaurants. The rooms are kept very clean but maids don't come every day

just returned from another great holiday in Georges, Stoupa, apartments are basic, it would be nice to have an electric kettle and toaster but more important, air-con is available, pool and bars are excellent, Pete the barman looks after everyone really well, the rest of the staff are also extremely helpful, we have just returned after missing a few years and still loved every minute of it, lots of people return year after year which says a lot. Stoupa is a lovely place to stay, excellent beach, bars and plenty of different places to eat, definately a place I would reccommend to my family and friends.

A short walk from the very clean beach and crystal clear sea , this lovely apartment block is clean and well maintained with two excellent bars. The day time pool bar is run by the friendliest ,chatty barman you could hope to meet. Pete. The free drinking water from the capped spring just across the way saved us money.Never had a bad meal in Stoupa in our 3 weeks , would go again and again ....

V popular with Stoupa regulars but facilities not changed since our last visit about 5 yrs ago -needs some updating. Public areas could be kept cleaner, room facilities getting a bit tired. Good location for Stoupa and easy access to big supermarket.
