“Lovely place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

When we first arrived, we were a little bit diasppointed. Because the room didn't look the same as the ones on internet. It was much smaller. But it was nice and clean.

The poolarea was wonderful and we had a lovely time there. The barstaff was also great.

The food in the restaurant was not great. They had a few selections, but the taste was bad. Especially lunch. The staff was also trying a bit too hard, so it was a lot of distractions from them all the time. Wanting to take our plate before we even finished our food and asking ten times per meal if everything was okay. Seems nice, but in the end it was just starting to get annoying.

We don't think the webpage were clear enough on how far away their beach was. So that was a bit disappointing. But it was really beautiful there!

The massages you get at the spa are really good and totally worth your money!

Also, you shouldn't buy the internet. The free one in the reception is much faster and more reliable.

All in all we had a really good stay there, exept for the food.

Thank you for your review. We are happy that you was our guest.
Sorry about the food, our chef was on holiday and with your suggestion we have contracted a extra chef and changed the daily menu. Food have to be always good!

Good news for new guest, we are building also a new restaurant what is ready in short time. This restaurant have a new a la carte and buffet. Our rooms are 47sqm, big for Zanzibar. And our website is showing 100% the same pictures.

Our second beach is 2.5km away were our beachhouse is located. Its is as you say one of the best beaches in Zanzibar. But also good news is that we are renovating our Resort Beach. Also in a short time we will finisch this project.

We stayed at Paradise beach in Uroa, zanzibar for 3 nights in June 2012. The private beach they have was the best throughout the whole of the Island.

Communication: fantastic and quick from the very first email. Great service once we arrived including pick up from the airport.

Hotel & facilities: well designed and decorated, lovely unique art pieces in the rooms and around the resort, good swimming pool, great restaurant location 'in' the water on stilts.

They also have a hot tub for hire which is enclosed in a tented canopy on the beach and it absolutely beautiful, relaxing and romantic for couples. We were in the low season so we even got a discounted rate for a longer time!

Food: Breakfast is buffet and fantastic keeping in mind you are on Zanzibar island (not developed by any means). Great service, staff on hand to pour drinks, fry/scramble eggs and so on

Evening meals were hit and miss as they have themed nights and I guess this is just personal preferance. We did enjoy the african night food though as we are indian and the food was quite similar to our taste/home food so we enjoyed this more than the western cuisine. But all efforts are made to ensure everything is served to perfection with a smile :)

Beach: The hotel itsel has a local beach where you can see locals collecting seaweed in the morning, really authentic feel when staying here and not like you are isolated within a big resort, it's a very personal feel. They have comfy hammocks and chairs to sit if you want but the best beach is a 5 min drive from the hotel itself- we hired a car and went ourself but the hotel also provides a free bus shuttle to take hotel guests. This is a private beach and the hotel also has a villa here for hire (would love to book this in the future with a big family!) and apparantly in the peak season they sell drinks/pizzas etc on this beach, however the plus to going in the low season is we had the whole thing to ourselves and it was just perfect! (see pics) best beach I have ever been to! warm, clean, quiet, perfect sun and perfect tide/strength for swimming.

My recommendations: Stay here for a few nights and then move on to stone town or other areas as it is quite remote from the main area. You will end up spending a lot on excursions/taxis if you spend a full week and are travelling back and forth each day. Definitely book here for a relaxing few days, highly recommended!! make the most of special offers check their website/contact the hotel manager directly to ask for any special discounts :)

After a few rough months I decided I needed a vacation ! After sharing this with my boyfriend we decided to choose Paradise Beach resort in Zanzibar for our 2-week holiday. As I am very happy with what we were offered I would like to share a few positive features of the hotel.
To begin with the room we were given was very spacious, clean and bright one.The bed was very comfortable and all of the furniture looked quite eco-friendly,too.If you are seeking for a romantic trip-you are at the right place.
Second of all, I must say the variety of food was great. For 2 weeks I could try out typical African dishes and there were many fruits that I could choose from ( I like eating healthy so it is quite important for me) .Another thing I really enjoyed was the big pool and the great ocean view from our room.I also booked a massage that was extremely relaxing!
There was a minor problem with the air conditioner the first day we arrived, but after calling the reception they got it fixed within an hour. The staff was great and very helpful, I got to know some of them and they thought me some stuff about the African culture.
I am extremely happy with the holiday we had and I would highly recommend Paradice Beach Resort to anyone who wants to relax for a few weeks.

Thank you very much for choosing Paradise Beach Resort and for your lovely review. We try to make your stay the Best experience possible. In order to improve our features, presently we are constructing a new Restaurant and kitchen, and at the same time constructing a few new rooms with Ocean views. Special mention to our 4 suites built on top of the Ocean.
Thanks again for your review and hope to see you soon in Paradise

First of all they double charged my credit card.

The place was full of drunken dutch (no offense, but this was the case...bad luck perhaps but really annoying behavior by that big group).

There is no beach nearby (they do offer free shuttle thought, but this requires some planning).

The airconditioner was broken when I arrived...took 3 different guys the come and check the situation. After second dude I suggested that I could move to another room (they were not fully booked but half empty) and finally after the visit of a third maintenance dude I was given a new room :/

Rooms are standard but quite plain and dark...extra chairs/ sofas would make them much more comfortable too.

Dear Sir,
I regret to hear that you had a bad experience out our Resort. It's a shame you conceded with such a noisy group in your opinion. Obviously Paradise cannot control before hand the type of guest that book our resort, but we can assure you that most of our reviews express the opposite to your experience, it's obviously bad luck in your case.
Regarding our staff. Zanzibar people are just starting to knowledge the Hospitality business, they are great people and trying their best to improve, but they are obviously not at the level of professionalism as Occident. Anyway, most our guest seek for a Zanzibari experience, and the last thing they want is to feel themselves in an "European" atmosphere, because that would not make them feel a truthful Zanzibari experience. Sorry we try our best, but obviously we cannot content every palate.

My husband and I went there on our honeymoon. Everything was pretty average, and the food was definitely not anything to get excited about (especially for Americans) but what made this place stand out was their staff. The staff was absolutely FANTASTIC! They were helpful and friendly and some of the hardest working hotel staff I've ever seen.

Paradise was significantly less expensive than other resorts, and the price should show you a bit of what to expect. It's not fancy or 5 star by any means, but it's comfortable with a great ocean view (no beach front on the exact property though, you have to drive 5 minutes to get to their beach). If you're looking for a nice get away for a few days and you don't mind the beach part, we highly recommend this place, just don't expect anything too fancy.

**Also don't use the hotel taxi, they are almost double the price of what the town taxi costs. The local transport called a "Daladala" is only 3,000 to town and not that bad to take.

Thanks for your review. Our staff is indeed wonderful. This place out stands a little because of them! Regarding the Resort, we have just begun an extension, building a new restaurant and kitchen, upgrading a few rooms, and featuring 4 new rooms built on top of the Ocean.
We take good notice about your comments regarding transport. Thanks again for choosing Paradise Beach Resort

I stayed in this hotel to relax for eight nights and achieved this very well. The hotel is set in a hollow square around the pool with the open end of the square against the sea.
On arrival I was met with friendliness and a helpful receptionist who pointed out the different options available to ease the stay. You can pay on arrival to have breakfast included, breakfast and dinner, all meals or all inclusive option which includes drinks. My room was excellent with a high standard of cleanliness. A large lounge with two single beds against the walls and the bathroom off that lounge also off the lounge a queen bed in the master bedroom with a secure safe. Air conditioner in bedroom, fan in lounge. Only one chair/stool in the entire room if you have more than one person then you sit on the single beds. The room cleaning staff are efficient, very friendly and get on with their job. On the balcony there is a small table and two chairs.
The pool and bar beside it very nice and well thought out. There are free snacks (depending upon your inclusive status) available throughout the day. I took the three meals option and have no regrets. Staff welcome you into each meal (all al a carte-buffet style) perhaps a little too much but that is personal opinion. The dinning areas are clean and well kept and the meals are very nice with a wide range of food options. Never boring. The guest relations manager is Italian and is approachable and friendly.
The one disappointing aspect was that one of the three dining areas protrudes into the sea on a pier. The sea floor is covered with rubbish and during low tide could be easily cleaned up. The rubbish included plastic bottles, clothes materials etc.
There is no actual swimming beach at the hotel, there is a sea wall and the sea comes up to the wall and then goes out over 500 metres. The swimming beach is apparently very nice and a few minutes drive away via the free hotel bus which runs regularly throughout the day.
The gym is small but adequate and includes two massage chairs. I had two massages there and these were excellent and provided by a skilled masseuse. A highlight for me and well worth while.
All up a most excellent stay from the time the hotel arranged uplift from the airport for me to the delivery to Stone Town so I could continue the tourist aspects of Zanzibar. Throughout my stay I received friendly and courteous service from all staff and did not hear any bad comments from other patrons. Thanks. I will stay here again.

Room Tip: The rooms are set in a group of four, two at ground level and two above them. If you want uninterrup...

Thanks for such a precise review. There is not much to say for our side. Regarding the Indian deck, we are actually refurbishing that area of the Resort and converting it into a 4 high standard rooms constructed over the Ocean. We are also constructing a new dinning area and kitchen. Hopefully the next time you visit us, we will be able to offer you a better Relaxing experience

Almost everything about this hotel is excellent. Beautifully laid out - seating areas, bar, fine dining restaurant which is really to be recommended, other restaurants have very good choices, Beach, pool and garden area are beautiful, staff are attentive and friendly but not overbearing. Even the gift shops and services are good. We have a so-called Executive Suite but our gripe would be that it would be better to offer a sofa capable of sleeping 2 small children. As it turned out, we were able to use the room for 2 adults and 2 small children, but only because we put 3 in the king-sized bed and only one on the small, hard couch. WiFi was slow. The water had a few temporary problems, only coming out as a slow drip for about 20-30 minutes one day, but that was rectified with no real hassle. So all in all a very lovely stay. But seriously overpriced.
