“Super place for relaxing after safari - good value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

After a 10 day safari we flew to Zanzibar and firstly spent 2 nights in this hotel. I could have stayed longer! Lovely hotel, like a mini club med formula, with a very welcoming staff, including the manager Alessandro who was always around and very attentive to his guests. Beautiful view and the beach which is a 10-minute hotel bus ride is private for the guests and really beautiful. The rooms were huge and cool and the food in the restaurant good. The aquagym on the last morning was a hoot - we had such a laugh with the animator who was great fun. The 2 'massai' who take the suitcases to the rooms and provide some tourist attraction seem a little fake after spending 10 days among real massai on the mainland, but it was a nice touch. Really the place to relax after a safari and before visiting Stonetown. Thanks guys!

Marumbi Beach resort has a new name called "paradise beach resort", Just 35 kms from the ferry and airport. It is a nice place for relaxing, rooms are clean, the swimming pool is big and great hospitality. The most wonderful thing I like about the place is plenty of activities are arranged from dolphin tours, beach house tours, African traditional dances, and many others. The food is so delicious so I recommend you to go for a full board to enjoy the food.
I spent two nights full board with my family and enjoyed everything there. The rates are reasonable compared to other beach resorts.

Room Tip: I went for suite, it is quite big with additional side bed. It was enough for family of three.

Marumbi Beach Ora Resort ( now called Paradise Beach Resort ) is definitely the place for those searching beautiful and romantic place with unique african/zanzibari feeling, far away from uniform 5* hotels.

Hotel - is situated directly on the coast in the Chwaka bay. You will find here everything you need to enjoy and relax. African style buildings, green area, palms, pool, sand, volleyball court, bar, animations, ocean sunrise, etc.

Room - match to hotel style – simple but spacious and clean, equipped with air-con and safe. The bed with mosquito net. Nobody comes here to watch TV...

Food – simple but tasty buffet style breakfast is just a beginnig. Buffet lunch and dinner is the gastronomic highlight of the day ;) Fresh, tasty and delicious food prepared by always well disposed chef you will never forget. You will enjoy crabs, octopus, calamary, fishes, chicken, beef and daily fresh and sweet passion fruit, pine-apple, mango, water-melon, banana,...

Staff – very very nice and friendly people. Maybe not as perfect as in 5* european hotel but very personal, smiling and always ready to serve and help. They are the treasure of the hotel.

Beach – hotel beach is not good for swimming but hotel shuttle will bring you to beautiful Uroa beach in 5-7 minutes where you can enjoy also small hotel bar and to meet another friendly and lovely people.

Result – This is the right place to spend amazing holiday. We do recommend to everybody, just be conscious you are in Africa. So enjoy it ! And we want to emphasize again two things – gourmet food and unique people !

Thank you, Bert ! Asante sana dada ! Asante kaka ! Bahati nzuri !

I can't write enough about this great little paradise now actually called Paradise Beach Hotel! The hotel is at the other side of the island but just about 30 minutes drive away, hotel taxi would cost you $50, try cracking a local deal and you might find a taxi for $25 although we booked it from hotel, didn't wanted to take the chances while I was traveling with family n children.

The rooms are cozy yet no room service, no telephone, no television, no electronics except a fan, aircon and a safe... Well what else do you need when you are looking for a gateway.

Friendly people, great management, helping hands all around you, just a smile away for help. Breakfast, lunch, dinner was great, all buffet although you could order in advance if you want special serving. Generally speaking the food was great and we never had to order anything specific.

The resort has got a great pool overlooking the sea and all the rooms, have a near by bar which severs drinks and bites all day long. The resort doesn't have it's own beach but they do have a private beach, free shuttles are operated every thirty minutes.

I think i will return and would certainly recommend anyone looking for a quiet and romantic vacation!

Keep up the good work Bert!!!

I stayed after climbing Mt Kilimanjaro so was looking for a relaxing week before i went back to work. As i was on my own i was worried that it would drag abit. However the annimation team (Alessandro, Barbara and Eleanor) were very welcoming. From then on the week went by so quickly. They engaged me with the other guests and we all ate together for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They invited me to join in with activities even though i was the only English person there (mainly Italian guest)-The language barrier didnt cause a problem at all. As well as the animation team (who werre brilliant) the staff were also very polite and welcoming.
I am always apprehensive about the food in hotels, but i was pleasantly surprised every day at the variation of food on offer-good quality as well.
The Hotel facilities were great as well. It was clean and had everything i needed for my stay. pool, restaurant, volleyball, shop, bar, free shuttle bus to local beaches.
Also, i had a friend who stayed in Nungwi during the same time. her hotel has a 4 star rating, yet she came and stayed at Ora beach for the last 2 nights of her stay as she hadnt made many friends and was bored. once she visited me at Ora she obviously liked the faciliets and staff here, so decided to stay.

very impressed-even the managment (Burt and his wife) were approachable and very friendly

Don't worry, I knew after visiting the hotel's website, which was in Italian and English, that it would be mostly Italians. This was indeed true on arrival but it is a guarantuee for nice food!

There's no beach but a small minibus drops you in 10 minutes to a ncie stretch of beach where another hotel from the Ora group is located. The price is a very good value: spacious, clean and styleful rooms, and excellent food.
