“Beautiful location, great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

We first discovered this restaurant walking back from Altea at lunch time. We were so impressed by the freshness of the food, and the cooking that we went back twice during our stay. Good ingredients should be treated simply and this is the strength of this restaurant. The fresh tuna was outstanding, we tried the swordfish and the meat dishes. For starters the langoustine was excellent. We sat on the small terrace by the sea which is a great location at lunch time or at night.

“A not worth visitng establishment”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

This resturant has the best position by the sea and has been around for over 30 years. But is has disapointd for some years now. It is expensive and the food is badly cooked. We keep trying but have been consistantly disappointed over a number of years. They need a new cook, fresh ingrediants and prices that do not feel extortionate. No wonder I see it empty whilst enjoy tapas in the little Heladeria next door.

“Outstanding every time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

This restaurant had to be our very favourite place to eat. The location was perfect, the service was professional and friendly. The food was outstanding in every way.
We tried many dishes each time we went - from the seafood paella to the vegetarian one (my favourite), from fresh sole to veal steaks. Fish soup was awesome too.
Out of all the restaurants we could and did go to, this one had the strongest pull for us. The lovely ower, was delightful, as was her son. They were very accommodating, even though each night and lunch time they were full.

Thank you El Cranc for giving us such a lovely time at your restaurant with our lovely Spanish friends, Rafa and Amparo.

See you when we return to Altea.

“overpriced but decent/pretty good seafood”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

First of all: Seafood was fresh and nicely prepared. Meat dishes were uneatable (almost) with dry Schnitzel among other...
Decor was basic; yes it might be right at the seafront but the restaurant had been cleaned (with water) right before service started so it felt somewhat humid and sticky. no fans or ac - it was unbearably hot.
Waiting staff was professional, no smiles though, and one did feel like he/she had to be happy to even be allowed to dine here.
Prices were (compared to other restaurants we have been to) over the moon with almost all the dishes around 20 Euros.
Would recommend this restaurant only for hardcore sea food lovers! There has got to be a better Seafood/tapas restaurant around.
