“Spanish Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2014

Large hotel with outdoor heated pool on the beach, Had read reviews before our 14 nights and as expected the hotel guests were predominantly Spanish, which was fine by us. Room was clean and adequate with nice outlook from the balcony.Food was mainly continental with Spanish touches which is to our liking. Lots of fresh fruit ,salads meats, cheese ,pizza, paella, fish and my husband enjoyed the variety of soups at dinner. There was an English breakfast of sorts if you were desperate for egg and bacon but I prefer to try a variety of what's available locally that I wouldn't eat at home .Not as large a selection as other hotels I've visited but quality was good and enjoyed what I ate.Reception staff spoke good English and were very friendly and helpful .Restaurant staff spoke very little if any English which gave me chance to try my very limited Spanish .Walked to Altea across the beach when the tide was out in 10 mins and along the road with wide area marked out as pavement in 15 mins .If you are feeling fit you can walk along the sea front to Albir in 45 minutes or jump on the No10 bus which runs from Altea past Albir on to Benidorm. We were lucky enough to be there for Fiestas in Altea which was amazing. All in all a fantastic holiday in a great spot and would happily return and recommend to anyone wanting an authentic Spanish holiday.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor room 341 which was lovely.

Stayed for one night on our way to Barcelona. Directly on beach which was nice. Service was beyond ridiculous. Restaurant was closed when we got there, did not open until 8 or 9:00. We had to get up early for a 5-hour drive to Barcelona. They would not accommodate early dinner or even give us something in advance for our breakfast as we were leaving before it opened. For dinner, we bought our own tapas and decided to eat on the balcony (which was the nice part). Asked for proper wine glasses - after 45 minutes, my husband went to bar and got glasses. Half an hour after that, a very rude woman came to door and shoved one tumbler at my husband, didn't say a word and left. Be careful with outside elevator. It is not even with the floor and our camera bag fell off the dolley while entering the elevator. Would not recommend. Also - seems to have been a bus trip, or a reunion of some sort - all seniors taking up every single table in bar area playing games. and LOUD! We could not even enjoy some quiet time or even a drink in the bar area or lounge area - they had taken it all over.

Very large hotel, rooms clean and adequate, we were the only English in the hotel, but if you don't mind its ok, nice breakfast but don't expect a full English!!!, as they mainly cater for the Spanish, bread, cheese, meats, olive oil etc but I enjoyed it very much. great location facing the sea, a short 15 min stroll to the old town of Altea, fantastic tapas restaurant, again no English, so if your looking for any English bars there are not any.

Room Tip: we had room 331 3rd floor facing the sea was lovely

Especially annoying is that even on the beach're listening to the music of the animation of the hotel. At night the music ends around 1.00 but there are nights that continued until 2.00 music at too high a volume.

We stayed here for three night two weeks ago. It was pleasant enough. Being english it was nice that the staff on reception could speak this quite well and the man was very pleasant who checked us in.

The room was very basic compared to what we were used to - for £150 a night it was definitely not worth this! We have stayed in much nicer hotels than this and paid less - one nice thing was that we had a lovely sea view.

The beds werent very comfortable, and the staff downstairs in the pool area on the night were grumpy and unpleasant (well the older guy was who never smiled and seemed to shout at the others).

The bar closes very very early, before midnight! We were surprised considering size of hotel. We were awoken early in the morning by music at the pool area and aqua aerobics - so no chance of a lie in!

As I say the hotel was ok, nothing special, and amenities and cleanliness leave a lot to be desired. It also overlooks a pebble beach which hurts your feet to walk on. It isnt that far at all to town centre about 10 mins where there are some lovely bars and restaurants with pleasant staff.

Room Tip: request sea view

Very functional - does what is says on the tin.

Rooms clean and serviced well.

Food at breakfast very good and plenty.

Nice beach front location and very easy walk into town and old town - the old town is a must do.

This was the only hotel that had a vacancy as we were passing through, it is huge must accommodate 1000???
It was very comfy but fir the price 135 euro I think a little high, we don't really like massive establishments and thus is, there was lots of Spanish tourists with kids running around and activities fir them and adults alike, I did do the water aerobics quite fun, the bfast options was huge and tasty, overall great hotel but just too big for my taste
