“Peace and Tranquility”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2011

The thoughtful and gracious owners went out of their way to accommodate us and make us feel at home. I felt comfortable from the start . They are lovely soft-spoken people who are very aware that their guests often are looking for peace and quiet. We heard about the place because some cousins of my husband go often.

Basically the property is an old country home set up on a hillside facing the town of Altea, which is on another hillside. The view of Altea is very pretty both in the day and night.
The room we stayed in was spotless. The only sounds we heard in the morning was the occasional chirping of birds and the random farm animal but at a distance. no traffic, no kids, no shouting.
The restaurant is outside in the front of the house under a roof but with open walls. Again the view is really nice, but the food is fantastic. The menu consists of imaginative plates made mostly from local, fresh ingredients (oranges, shellfish, beets, almonds, brevas, lemons, eggs, etc). I loved both the dinners we had here.
For me the best part might be the garden out in the back of the property. It is really well designed with lots of self sustaining local trees and plants, a small pool, lounge chairs, a small bar, hammocks. At night it is lit so you can hang out there as long as you want.
I will definitely go back.

This is such a charming house. The food was really outstanding. I don't think I ever ate so good. The lady who ownes it is reaaly sweet and has given us some lovely market and restaurant suggestions. If we can we'll come back!
