“Ruined on the last day”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

Firstly, let me start with the good, the apartments were clean & practically came with everything you needed (except air-con) which they'd charge 50euros a week for!!! The apartment complex surrounding were well tendered & they had a really nice pool/Jacuzzi which was very child friendly. The bar served an array of drinks & food, the food was ok, nothing special. The drinks I'll touch on a little later. The location was a little way away from the main town, too far to walk, specially with kids, not exactly cheap to get a taxi, and the apartments is not situated on a bus route.
Now for the bad, Well I'd recommend ordering bottled drinks after finding maggots in my fresh orange & I found their draught beer very flat. The main reason for my poor rating of what was actually a fantastic holiday was the staff. "Maria Mitchell" Peggy's younger sister was a little OTT. She had this stereotypical cockney visard, which came which came across a little cheap but quite offensive. Every other word was "darling, love & dear". Personally I think she best suited in the Queen Vic & not the Lenaki Vic. Another annoying thing was seeing someone else who was staying at the apartments treated like dirt. This gentleman left tips almost every time he got something from the bar, but on his last day he wanted a latte which was 2.50euro, but he only had 2.45 on him & they refused to let him off with 5cents. But the worst thing was about half a hour before our transfer to the airport was due. Peggy I mean Maria came across and said "there was one towel missing from our apartment". They made us open all our luggage & stood over us whilst we had to take everything out. The whole thing joke a joke and an absolute embarrassment having to do it in front of everyone around the pool area. We proved that we hadn't packed it in any of the cases as we didn't need anymore after bringing 8 of out own from home. But this was still not good enough for them and they demanded 9Euros from us. Well it was the end of our holiday and we had no money left, so to further the embarrassment someone else staying at the apartments had to pay it for us.. After the amount of money that was spent there, and the amount of tips that were left during our 2 week stay, you'd of thought they would of let it slip and perhaps realised that it wasn't us losing that happened, and that maybe their cleaning staff had shorted us by one. There was no benefit of the doubt, just plain old demanding of the money.
To top it off, the owners mansion house is practically across the road from the apartments. It left a bitter reminder of where all our tips were going. I mean talk about gloating!!!

This is our 25th year in Kos...give or take a few.....and our 5th stay at Lenaki and we can honestly say we wouldnt stay anywhere else.....Yiannis, Elena, Steve and Maria are the most warm and welcoming of hosts and are always there to help. The rooms are basic but perfectly adequate and the gardens and pool area are beautifully kept. Yes you have to pay a charge locally for the air-con and secrity deposit but this is normal in most places and yes you have to provide your own toilet roll but this is self-catering and really isnt a problem. There are some fabulous restaurants who welcome you back and recognse you year after year and dont miss out on a trip to Tingkaki(only 16 euros each way in a taxi) where the beach is beautiful and there is a lovely breeze. The old town has many wonderful shops and the main square is a fab place to watch the world go by on an evening, and dont miss the Diagora Square at the top of the old town with its lovely blue and white restaurants.......all in all a fabulous island, we love it!!

After worrying that this hotel would be unsuitable for our needs (a group of eight young friends), we were pleasantly surprised and had a very enjoyable stay.

The family that run the hotel are incredibly friendly, and someone is always on hand to help you with anything 24/7. The rooms are basic but nonetheless comfortable. I had no trouble sleeping on the sofa bed but could imagine others struggling. There was more than enough equipment in the kitchenette for our cooking needs, although we ate out most days. We always had hot water and the shower was great, but after your first roll of loo roll you have to buy your own. We bought loads from the huge Carrefoure supermarket (5 min walk away), as well as washing up liquid and a sponge, so that wasn't a problem for us. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly once a day by cleaners, and our towels were changed twice during our 7-night stay.

Air con cost EURO49 for the week, but was well worth the money (bit temperamental to begin with but was quickly fixed). We also bought a compartment in the big safe by the bar (EURO12 for the week and accessible 24/7), which we comfortably fit all of our valuables in for the week. The hotel does not have wi-fi, but there is a computer with internet access that costs EURO2 for 30 mins use (almost every bar/restaurant in the centre of town has its own wi-fi).

The guests were predominantly couples and families, although there were some other groups our age (20-21). The pool is smaller than hotels we've stayed in before, but was still very good, and the pool area was excellently maintained, with a play area beside it that was very popular with children. The hotel was almost full when we stayed but we never had any trouble finding a few sun-loungers. You are only allowed to consume food and drink bought from the hotel bar by the pool, but they serve a wide selection of food (from snacks to main meals) and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), including some delicious traditional Greek dishes. There was also a pool table, table football, jacuzzi and big tele showing SkySports.

The hotel is out of town, and is a good 15/20 mins walk to the harbour (going at 'holiday pace' of course!!), so not somewhere you could just nip back to if you forgot something. However, that did mean it was silent at night away from the bustling and lively centre of Kos Town. It is a bit of a confusing journey into town but after the first couple of nights we worked it out!

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Lenaki. Having to pay for most things, such as air-con, internet and loo roll, didn't seem to bother us, as other hotels do the same, and the pool area/bar was a very pleasant place to chill out at any time of day. There was very little noise (just the odd group returning from town late) and after doing it a few times the walk to the resort becomes more than bearable. I would recommend this hotel more to couples and families, but as a group of friends we have very few complaints. Thank you Steve and co. for a thoroughly enjoyable stay!! :)

Room Tip: We enjoyed having a room on the bottom floor facing the pool, but if you wanted the quietest rooms t...

If you are looking just for a clean place to sleep is a good deal. They charge for everything, even to call a cab they charge EUR0,20, Air con not included, charged as well. Rented a car for 90EUR per 5 days, the hotel recoomendation was EUR180 for exactly the same ? not recommended sorry

Pool and gardens are top notch for the price, our room B9 was basic clean and tidy and everything worked ok and hot water always whenever shower was used.No traffic noise at all just the odd persons comming home late from town so no issues there. Staff very helpful with wide selection of bottled beer at the bar but the likes of Guinness on the pricey side but at least its on offer.Sky sports? no problem as we watched Lions game / wimbledon and cricket all live .15 minute walk to harbour front and even in first week of July still cool enough in the evening to wear jeans to keep mosqiutos at bay, heres a tip take a small torch into town when sun goes down as the power went off 3-4 times during our week there due to problems with the power and it goes pitch black you wont see ya food on your table even. Not a problem back at Lenaki as back up generation onsite if needed. In my opinion a good value choice ..Good Luck

Room Tip: Room B9 backs onto rear/ side of pool with good view of the grounds and the mountain in the distance...

Stayed at the Lenaki Apartments 27/06 to 7/07. Apartments are basic but as with the pool and gardens absolutely spotless, cleaners cleaned everyday and new sheets were provided daily. No problem getting sunbed/parasol. Pool and gardens are gorgeous and 4* quality. Steve, Maria and family made us feel very welcome. Greek night was great fun and very good value, Steve’s cocktails are delicious.
15 min walk into town. Kos town is lovely and has loads of great restaurants; our favourite was the Alexandros up by the church near the Spice market. The Women’s co-operative restaurant just before the spice market on the right also had wonderful food.
Hired bikes for 2 days excellent value at 4 euro’s per day, great place to cycle with plenty of cycle lanes. Kos town is a brilliant base; loads to do. Only problem this year seems to be the mosquitoes, would recommend taking plenty of mozzie spray
I would highly recommend the Lenaki apartments and I am already planning a return trip. Many thanks to Steve, Maria, Mum and Dad for a great holiday

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet

We had 2 very nice weeks at Lenaki. Steve and his family make your holiday to one you will not forget.
Positive points for us were : nice swimmingpool in a beautifull garden, cosy bar area with excellent food, very clean rooms, quiet area (no street noise), walking distance from some really nice restaurants with Angelica's beach bar and Caravan (lamb chops) as our favourites.
Point for improvement: sunbeds at pool area.

In conclusion : Lenaki appartments is a place to return to!
