“Waves breaking down your feet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

The hotel is on the beach as claimed. From the balcony you can experience waves below your feet. We have never stayed before so close to sea. The property is very good, but maintenance needs improvement.
The food is also good. The rooms given were sea-front and we were highly satisfied during our stay.

Room Tip: Sea front Non-AC rooms have the best sea view

Hotel Sea Pearl is located right on the Sea Beach. Its very near the lighthouse (not more than 50 Mtrs). Sea Pearl was once a very good hotel which is evident from the furniture, light fittings & design, but now due to lack of maintenance it has not been able to maintain its standard. The building is damaged by salt water erosion and has not been taken care of.

The sea facing rooms in the front are particularly in a bad shape & we had to leave the only AC Sea facing room for a side sea facing room at the back due to the dirty condition of the furniture & room. All rooms except the front ones in the first floor have private balcony. The premium rooms have bathtubs but its better not to use them. The common balcony in the front is a very good place to spend time & gossip with other boarders. Although they say the linen is changed on daily basis, during our 3 night stay they changed only once. More cleanliness is desirable.

The food is of very good quality and taste. Its reasonably priced and quantity is also good. Prawn is highly recommended. You have to order quite some time before as they go to the market & buy things fresh. There are a lot of eateries nearby but the rate is same as in Hotel Sea Pearl. The staff is generally helpful.

A stroll to the east & west on the beach is a nice experience. To the east one will find fisherman’s village. Further ahead there are 300 – 400 years old Dutch houses which now stand like ghost houses. There is not much to buy in Gopalpur. The evenings can be spent on the beach with servings of Muri, etc.

A stay of 1-2 nights is enough in Gopalpur. Not much to see – Taptapani which is difficult to approach, Tampara Lake on the way to Rambha, which is about 45 km away. The Rambha trip by auto take not more than 4 Hours & costs Rs. 600/-. A local auto driver Arun – 9861343607 is helpful. Do visit Gopalpur Hill top & cashew factory if it is open.

Room Tip: Want cleaner AC room, then ask for Premium Delux at the back having side view balcony. Room n0- 209...

The position of this hotel is really impressive and position-wise, it's the best hotel for 2 reasons - it is directly built on the beach and is situated just at the turn/junction of the main road near the sea. Another hotel, hotel Kalinga is adjacent to it but as much as build and decor is considered, Sea Pearl is way ahead. Ground floor has a nice lawn which has a staircase through which one can directly get down to the beach. There are around six non-a.c. rooms in the ground floor. 1st floor has a fantastic balcony which provides the best possible view a hotel can provide in Gopalpur. Almost all of the rooms on 1st floor are a.c. except room no. 204. Room nos. 203 and 204 on this floor are front sea facing. 4 other rooms have side sea view. Keep one thing in mind though. Whether a room is side or front sea facing, you won't get total privacy. For instance, front sea facing window opens into the common balcony. Again, side sea facing balconies face side balconies of other rooms. Rooms are ok but much, much more maintenance is required.

The ground floor restaurant, "Sea Dine Restaurant", offers a nice variety of dishes which would suit almost everyone. Room service is quick and timely in almost all cases. Unfortunately, the crockery used are horrible.

The manager Mr. Mahesh Kumar is a nice, friendly person who can be always approached for help if required.

The area suffers from frequent power outage and though the hotel has generator, often doesn't use it during daytime if there aren't many boarders.

Overall, the hotel is a recommended one but the management should concentrate more on maintenance and cleanliness.

The room tariff are as follows:
Premium dlx a.c. - 1500
Premium a.c. - 1300
Classic a.c. - 1150
Premium non-a.c. - 850
Classic non-a.c. - 650

For anyone visiting Gopalpur, whenever you require auto-rickshaws you can find a couple of them standing at the bend beside the hotel. But, most of them demand rates which are higher than normal. You can contact a young fellow Munna [--] who surprisingly always charged just the normal charges and was also very enthusiastic and guided us regarding where to go, what to see, etc.

This hotel with a great location offered us the comfort of home. The view of the sea from its sea facing room was magnificent. The staffs( Santosh, mama and many others ) were too helpful. The food was also nice.

We visited Gopalpur in December 2010. Hotel Sea Pearl in Gopalpur, Orissa is one of the best hotels there. Its location is awesome. The 2 rooms facing the sea on the ground floor and the 2 rooms just above them in the first floor gives you a feeling of hanging over the waves, especially in the night when the high tide helps the sea come closer to the hotel, to the extent where the water hits the basement of the hotel.

The food in the hotel is also very good. The beauty of it is you can actually customize the dish to some extent if you request the chef. For example - my kid is small and on my request the egg curry was made less spicy and sweet for him. This is one of the many examples of great hospitality in the hotel.

The room service was wonderful, the boys in the hotel and the manager was very friendly and really helpful. They helped us a lot even for booking cabs and autos for sight-seeing. Infact on the day of our departure from Gopalpur, we were stuck in a road blockade due to Beach Festival and the manager of the hotel, on our behalf had a talk with the police there and got special permission for the auto to take us to Brahmapur station.

We really enjoyed staying there and we still cherish the memories.

Room Tip: Always opt for the 2 rooms on the ground floor facing the sea and having a lawn in front of them. A...

We booked this hotel for honeymoon stay in Gopalpur mainly based on its #1 rating on TripAdvisor. And it is a unique little gem, really.

i have stayed at many hotels earlier, but this hotel stands above others in terms of service, cleanliness and hospitality, Exactly on the sea beach with amazing sea view from room and a wonderful balcony overlooking the sea.

I would highly recommend anyone who wishes a safe, yet peaceful, homelike hotel with good food quality to enjoy with friends or family both.

And as many people have written before.Hotel Sea Pearl is a place you would definitely come back to and recommend to your friends. Thank you very much for making our stay so pleasant!!
