“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

Vey good hotel and cetrally located. The rooms are very nice and spacious and quite clean. The hotel is very nicely decorated and the hotel staff is brilliant and very helpfull! The hotel is within walking distance from the center. The only thing i did not like is the hotel restaurant. Even though the breakfast is good, i do not reccomend luch or dinner in the hotel. The foods are very strange and wird tasting ! They have a quick wifi connection which works without problems unlike most hotels in Spain.

Stayed for business meeting for client with operations in Terrassa, so this hotel is convenient to that region. About 35-45 minutes from airport and Barcelona. Staff was efficient at check in. They were multilingual which helped. Room was reasonably sized. Due to funky round building, rooms were a bit dark and gloomy. Furnishings were minimalist. No clock in the room - odd! The TV was tiny and most stations were not clear. AC was fair - but that seems pretty common in his region. Gym was a tiny room and not open until 9a. For a business traveler, it was inadequate. Dinner at the only restaurant was average. Breakfast was good.

Room rates were very competitive - but you are generally getting what you pay for.

Very nice hotel. Terressa is well worth visiting In its own right. Very friendly and nice pavement Cafes. Next door to the hotel a handy tapas bar and a Chinese Restaurant that is well worth a visit. Barcelona easily reached on the train.

If you are staying in Terrassa then this is the best hotel in the city. I came here on business and have stayed here several times.

It has both good and bad points:-

Good Points:
• Hotel location is strategic for the business traveller – 1 minute off the motorway from Barcelona on a busy road, just 10-15 minute walk from city centre.
• Free Wifi throughout hotel.
• Cost is reasonable.
• Room was clean, bed was comfortable.
• Bathroom modern with a hi-tech shower. Once you get the hang of it its fine.
• Views inside the circular atrium are lovely, with 2 glass lifts.
• Helpful staff.

Bad Points
• Parking for hotel guest is not free.
• Rooms are modern however quite small.
• No ceiling lights just energy saving fluorescent lamps, could do with being a bit brighter for the evenings.
• In my case although I was a solo traveller I was given a room with 3 single beds squashed into it leaving me with little room to move around in. Look at the photos attached.
• The bed spreads are a bit dated, not what you would generally expect in a 4 star hotel.
• As the hotel is built in the shape of a 360 degree circle I found the rooms were rounded instead of being square which I found quite annoying to the eye.
• No real lobby to speak of, you would have to go to the restaurant/bar if you had any visitors.
• Not enough electric sockets, if you want to charge up your laptop or phone you have to do it either in the bathroom or remove the TV or light from the socket.

Notwithstanding the bad points I would still stay here again.

Room Tip: Make sure you do not get a double room with 3 single beds squashed into it if that is not what you h...

I stayed at the Don Candido for a long stay as part of a business relocation. Although Terrassa is not the most beautiful location, the hotel is like an oasis in the middle of the industrial warehouses. The Don Candido is close to a metro station that can take you into the centre of Barcelona in 40 minutes for about 3€. It is also easy to get around to the airport (30 minutes away) other more interesting places like Montserat or Sant Cugat thanks to numerous motorways. For me the best thing about the Don Candido was the staff. They were really friendly and helpful at all times and David Pardillo, the manager went above and beyond normal duty to make sure that myself and my family were comfortable during our stay.

Room Tip: Rooms that face south can get very warm during the day if it's a sunny day.

Hotel was further from Barcelona than expected but tube was easy enough straight on to las ramblas. Staff spoke English but were unhelpful. Food in hotel was expensive but lots of places to eat in the town it's in which was nice despite looking a little rough around the edges. Price for parking was ridiculous but roads around were fine. Good for somewhere to sleep if venturing out of hotel, more of a convenience than a luxury. But definitely more comfortable than a tent! Would chose somewhere closer to Barcelona

I was hesitant to book here as it's outside of Barcelona by 15 minutes but found it was a good decision. We rented a car so I thought it wouldn't be too bad for driving in and out of Barca.
The hotel itself is unique as it's circular design gives it a large atrium in the middle. All of the rooms are located off balconies and seemed soundproofed. The circular frame of the hotel gives the rooms a weird position but we weren't bothered by it. The rooms are nicely appointed since the hotel is relatively new and the shower/bathroom includes a bidet. They offer to clean your room everyday but we only needed it done twice for our stay.
We decided not eat at the hotel as the price was high (which is always the case) but the drink/wine prices didn't seem too bad. The price of the room didn't include breakfast (and I'm not sure if you opt for that) but that service was a little high as well. There are markets within walking distance and a bar/cafe next door if you don't want to stay in (SMOKING!).
The staff were courteous and helpful. We asked them about going into Terrassa where the hotel is and they gave us simple directions for walking. We were concerned by the look of the town since near the hotel it's a bit run down, abandoned, and industrial looking. But it's actually a nice city once you explore (the hotel provided us with a city map and you can get others at the tourist office). I would recommend a trip to the old Mercat if you're looking for some good fresh food. It's only ten or so minutes to the city center.
Don Candido offers covered parking but it's 11 euros a night. We opted to park just outside the hotel and had no problems for the four nights we stayed.
Again the location is not the best for one who wants to visit Barcelona but it's a shining red beacon at night as you drive back after your daily visits from the urban heart of Catalonia.
