“Ultra Modern and interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Ultra modern hotel which has a green theme throughout. A garden on the roof and half way up the building. The rooms are interesting - minimalist design. A glass wall conceals the bathroom. Great shower, bed and internet connection. Good working space tool, ideal for a business trip. The bar is off the main reception, I had a G&T which was prepared with extraordinary care and this was reflected in the price!

The Renaissance Fira Barcelona Hotel is one of three Renaissance Hotels in Barcelona, and as the newest, many taxi drivers do not know where it is. I recommend having the address handy to show to them. The Renaissance Fira is modern, beautiful and minimalistic. The lobby is elegant and touches of wood and leather prevent it from being cold. The reception personnel were friendly and efficient and a bellman, Otto, went above and beyond to secure me a reservation at a restaurant that I wanted to visit. Each floor is rimmed by gardens of tropical foliage which give the entire hotel a lush green feel. I understand rooms come either in black or white. I was given a white room that turned out to be handicap accessible, which I did not ask for or require. The white rooms are ALL white. White walls, bathroom floors, linens, curtains, desk and chair. The part of the room that isn't white is floor to ceiling mirrors that reflect the white. . The floor in the bedroom/living room area is light wood. The whole effect t is very clean, austere and quiet. The bed was comfortable, with a fluffy down comforter and soft sheets. The room was spacious, huge by European standards with a giant narrow eye-shaped window across the whole of it. There are curtains that can be pulled closed and automatic blinds that can be raised or lowered with a button. It included bottles of water daily as well.
While it was a lovely experience overall, there were several things about the room that didn’t function very well, as if in the drive to make it modern, they forgot that form should follow function. For example, the bedside table was two feet from the bed. It was on casters, so could be moved over to a place that could be reached form the bed, but it had to be moved. The only trash bin in the whole room was a tiny one next to the toilet. The shower was a huge walk in affair with a lovely rain shower head, but the shower curtain wasn’t water proof and so the bathroom floor got soaked. Also the pegs for your towels to hang on are 6 feet from the shower next to the toilet. All in all, these were minor inconveniences, and may have been due to the handicap room, but they were kind of annoying.

Room Tip: Rooms ending in 08 and 09 face the freeway, but are wide huge and full of light. This was my room an...

This hotel is a fantastic base for a break in Barcelona. A complete contrast to the old city but conveniently located next to the Metro station, it combines stunning modern architecture with friendly helpful staff. We loved the Gaudiesque design of the windows, such a contrast to the usual generic corporate hotels. The rooms are all white and sleekly minimalist, the lifts are great, the breakfast with views of Barcelona excellent and there is a roof top pool and an indoor spa pool and gym. Perfect, especially if you can bag a bargain rate on the net.

Room Tip: The higher you are the better the views and facing the sea is best

Booked a long weekend here at end of November via Groupon deal. Wasn't sue where the hotel was exactly compared to the centre of Barcelona so jumped in a taxi approx. 22 Euros. We actually were about half way between the airport and the centre (Place de la Cataluna at top of Ls Ramblas). Quickly orientated ourselves and with the 10 trips for 10 Euros tickets for bus or train/metro were quickly in the centre. The hotel is very modern and the outside including the lifts were all glass, our room was on the 18th floor of 26 and the views were amazing. The restaurant is on the 14th floor and we had a bed and breakfast basis. The breakfast offering was amazing and you ould get anything from breads/toast to pastries, meats, cheeses, fruit, yoghurt and a hot food section offering proper scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms etc.there is also a chef who will cook eggs to order i.e omeletes, fried eggs etc. so we filled up here to make the most of our time in the city. The reception staff were also very friendly and spent time helping us understand where we needed to go and gave us a discount for the guided bus tours (red and blue route).
Room was really modern with good bathroom and electric blinds for curtains and aone for blackout at bedtime.
Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a city break as it's convenient for airport and city centre (both were about 15 mins away.
One tip is get the bus back to the airport for 2 Euros, it stops right outside the hotel and is back at the airport quickly (make sure you know you want terminal 1 or 2 as if you get it wrong the walk is a LONG one.

Room Tip: Higher the better as you get better views, didn't see a great deal of difference in which side y...

I will certainly come back..

Room Tip: High floor, overlooking the city, partial sea view..

Have just got back from a lovely girly weekend where we stayed at this very modern, sleek and impressive hotel. Rooms were beautiful, amazing windows like I've never seen before and spotlessly clean. Beds really comfy. Breakfast was amazing with loads of choice and the quality and amount you got kept us going all day. Stunning views from the rooftop pool. About a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport and it cost us about 20 euros in a taxi to La Ramblas. The staff were very polite and helpful. Overall we had a lovely few days in this beautiful city. Would recommend a visit to the singing fountains in the evening just stunning. Would go back again and would definitely stay here again.
