In a town that just continues to blow my mind with never ending gorgeous design and boutique hotels at extroadinarily reasonable prices (compared to other European/Global cities), this Renaissance Barcelona Fira is stupendously off the charts!
5 Stars in every regard!
Recommend for: Excellent for anybody coming on business to the Fira conference center. Not recommended for the first-time tourist to Barcelona, as though the taxi rides to the city center may only be 10-15eur and 10-20min, it is not the touristy beautiful city-center of las Ramblas, Diagonale, el Porto Olympico (and its nightlife) and the beaches.
Difficult to even know where to begin...
Building: There is almost no "indoors"! From the indoor luxurious and spacious industrial soaring-cielinged lobby, 4 glass elevators wait to whisk you upwards to the many floors above. As your ascent begins, not only is a view over Barcelona afforded, but you also realize that the core of your tower hotel building appears to be little more than a luxurious tropical arboretum growing amidst a central metal staircase.... floor after floor after floor. Like a 20*-floor greenhouse! (*not sure how many floors there actually are)
Room: Off the elevator, you see no doors, no room numbers, until you get close and see a subtle room number indicating an area to swipe your magnetic plastic room card to open the door. All white walls, linens, everything, you enter the room like it was the film "2001: A Space Oddysey". While you get your bearings, of the little hidden white toilette room, glass walled bathroom, hidden space-efficient closets and big luxurious clean bed, you realize there's not a window... but an explosion of a view out over Barcelona! What am I talking about? Though sheathed in glass on the outside of the building, a thick poured-concrete wall is carved (poured) out in the shape of an explosion through the concrete, giving you a dynamic, startling and wonderfully artistic view on the city.
Food: Extremely top quality very large buffet breakfast that the most seasoned of business travellers would appreciate. Numerous staff moving around ensuring the show runs smoothly.
Staff: Excellent, very professional, well-trained. 5*.
Location: 2 blocks walking to the Fira Conference Center, very easy. 10-15min to Las Ramblas and the heart of Barcelona's tourist centers.
In sum, I AM SO HAPPY THAT THIS HOTEL WAS CREATED!! The designor should be applauded!
