When I am returning from Trinco we stop at Chaaya Village Habarana. Very Cool place after the dry zone Trincomalle. They have arrange the lunch at garden restaurant near the lake. It has full of local & very famous liquors such as Jonny walker, Bacardi and wine. We had completely nice lunch at Chaaya Village Habarana.

My friend and I went to Sigiriya for a week end trip and we decided to spend the night at this hotel. It was a nice experience and it was located abt 25 minutes drive from sigiriya. The concept of village and nature are well adopted in this hotel. We had deluxe rooms which was spacious and with an open air shower... It has a natural lake nearby... so.. very delightful to enjoy nature while staying in this hotel. Food were good and services were excellent!!

Room Tip: If you like lake view.. take king fisher lodge

This hotel formed a base for a few days of sightseeing and we loved everything about it. The bungalow style accommodation had great facilities and was well maintained and serviced. The staff were all polite and helpful and the food was amazingly good - buffet style meals but with a really great range of food - something for everyone. We transferred to a beach hotel for a few days afterwards but were not happy there so weent back to the Chaaya Village where we spent three days simply relaxing by the pool and enjoying the facilities. As most people use this hotel as a base to visit various sights we found the pool fairly quiet during the day, which was an added bonus. A 'must stay' hotel and we will definitely go back there !

Room Tip: We thing the best rooms were in the B and C blocks

We travelled here as a part of a country wide trip to sri lanka not really knowing what to expect. we were not sure what to expect, We were lucky enough to be allocated a lakeside room which we shared with our son and in which we felt we had pleny of space. The proximity to Sigirya (lesson for the future - take plenty of water and arrive early in the morning) and other areas of interest such as the elephant orphanage made this an ideal stopover prior to continuing our journeys. The staff could not be more helpful and the food in the restaurant had the best variety of food throughout our whole trip and there really was something for everyone. When our son grew weary of the spiciness of the Sri Lankan cuisine, he was able to have freshly made pasta which he declared was the best he had tasted. The lake at sunset with the sound of the crickets and the sound of the local mosque calling for prayers - magical.

Room Tip: We used a local travel agent to organise our trip and therefore felt that we had a bit more control.

My daughter (10) and myself stayed here for 5 nights and found the place totally enchanting. Very spacious grounds with amazing wildlife, from chipmonks, monkeys to lizards. Rooms big with tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, air con and ceiling fan. Walk in shower, clean and comfortable. Food varied with something for most. Staff smiley and helpful. Great base to visit attractions in and around area. Long transfer from the airport which on top of 10.5 hour flight was painful, especially with the driving over there but the hotel is a must for anyone looking to book around Habarana. Lovely, clean, scenic and relaxing. The spa is not cheap but worth a visit.

The rooms are in a chalet style, which are rustic and ethnic. Given the setting of the hotel in ts grounds, with monkeys, snakes, and lizzards around, its just right! The only noise to disturb your sleep is the monkeys on your roof in the morning.

The food is okay. I didn't rate it as highly as other reviewers, but there was western and Asian food available. The bar area is open-air veranda style, which is quaint, although the 'enterainment' is somewhat indifferent. I didn't want to hear some Sri Lankan pub singer killing Eric Clapton songs. However, this should not distract you from the overall ambience of a colonial outpost, of the empire.

You can book an elephant safari via the hotel, which is a good laugh and well worth the expense. All in all, both my wife and I loved the experience and any down side was compensated by the hotel's setting, its well kept grounds and wildlife!

Thank you for your response, it was a pleasure having you and your wife at Chaaya Village Habarana. The resort promotes primate tourism which is the reason for the monkeys and lizzards that surround the area.
